This dog was originally one of two that Beth used to have (old pics of them both at link):

Mom is taking her dog in to be put down.
Lucy is a black lab mix, 13, deaf, blind and no longer has the use of her back legs. It's just time, there's no joy or even life in her life. Rosie wouldn't let me go with her but I expect that she will be upset when she gets back without Lucy.
Mom had Lucy and her sib, Joe, for the last decade. Joe had to be put down in 2008 and Rosie was on the floor for weeks. This is the hard part of having dogs, when they're gone.
Lucy and Joe had great lives here on the ranch. They chased squirrels, they ran mostly at will, they were out in the open air much of the time. They rode in Rosie's car and in the ranch truck.
I originally adopted them as puppies.
Then, they were brought up here to live with Mom, which was nicer than waiting all day for me to come home from work. Before I knew it, Joe was gone and Lucy was a senior.
It just all happens too fast.

13. I've five cats and a dog.
How I'll do this six more times, I don't know.
But I'd never give up a minute spent with any of them, that's for sure.

I'm sorry for your and your mom's loss, Beth.

A little more room in the camper.
It must be lovely in there with two people and all those critters.
-
Awwwww, it doesn't matter how old they are it's still a horrible thing to have to do. Just said a Prayer now to get them through it.

Losing a pet is rough. I wish the best for the evil bitch's mother.

I had a 13 year old golden lab named Scruffy who developed hip dyspepsia, it was just about the worst day of my life when he was put down. That was the morning of Sept 11, 2001, what a ****ing horrible day that was.

I had a border collie/healer mix die on Christmas Day, and had to have a Bassett Hound put down 5 years later, both had lymphatic cancer. Both are buried side by side on the hill behind my house.
That's where I'll probably bury my 12 year old Dachshund when he dies, but not anytime soon (I hope!). He's going thru his "second puppyhood" right now, and is giving our younger dogs a real challenge sometimes to keep up with him.
They truly do leave "pawprints on our hearts".

May some peace guide your mother at this tough time, Beth.

Then why the hell did you adopt them in the first place, bitch? Let me see if I get this right, you adopted some dogs, decided it wasn't worth the hassle and f'ed up your "party" plans, and decided to pawn them off on your mother so you could still do what the hell you wanted to do. Like the typical liberal, you think just adopting the dogs is the good "liberal" thing to do. It takes more than that, you skanky bitch.
