A Pennsylvania woman contemplating a gender change alleges that she was fired after wearing a prosthetic penis to her job, according to a civil rights lawsuit filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
Pauline Davis, 45, charges that she was “unfairly terminated†from her position as a “packer/line inspector†at the J&J Snack Foods production plant. She contends that the company subjected her to “disparate and discriminatory treatment for being a female, and for being a female who identified with the male gender.â€
According to her complaint, Davis “advised certain co-workers that she would be wearing the prosthetic device, and this information was reported to management.†After learning that Davis was packing a fake penis, J&J “retaliated against her and discriminated against her in that she was illegally terminated,†the lawsuit notes.
The prosthetic device, Davis reported, “was concealed and in no way interfered with the ability of Plaintiff to do her job.â€
Supporting her discrimination claim, Davis contended that a male coworker who had “taken hormone treatments and wore female prosthetic devices and dressed in female clothing†was treated “more favorably†and not disciplined for “wearing a female prosthetic or female clothing.â€
Davis’s federal lawsuit, which accuses J&J of retaliation and gender identity discrimination, seeks back pay and benefits, actual and punitive damages, and the reimbursement of her legal fees.

I'm guessing there is more to this than the uncontested version of her side of it contained in that story.

Oh you old cynic! Surely this is entirely believable. :-)

I think it's all right here:

Plaintiff contradicts (contra-dicks?) herself when she claims concealment as a defense but admits to "advising" co-workers.
"Hey guys! Guess what? I'm wearing a strap-on! Isn't that great? Now we can hang-out, drink beer and talk about hoggin' for fat chicks."
My guess is her co-workers didn't want to hear this shit and complained.

Well, I totally believe that she wore a fake penis to work, and that she was fired. The rest of it, not so much.
:-)
I have defended labor discipline/removal cases in hearings for the past 20 years, so admittedly I have a somewhat jaded perspective on claims like hers...

This would be my guess also....

She walks-up to you. Leans across the hall, barring your way with her arm, smiling, her eyes tracing the V of your sweater neck.
"You know," she whispers as her eyes gleam. "I'm not just pretending I'm a man, today. I'm pretending I'm a black man."

Damn you. Now I've got that scene from Bachelor Party where the guy gets done making hot sweet love to the woman of his dreams, she says she has to "freshen up", and starts taking a leak. STANDING UP.

See, it wasn't sex discrimination. She was fired for unauthorized packing on company time.

So how did they find out the storeys were true, did she wig wag it at them?
How can any Employer make any rules about what wears under their uniform or clothing???? No weapons or knives naturally, but do the rules say no woman is allowed to wear out of sight a pretend penis or tape prunes to their gentiles and pretend they are testicles??
This company sounds like a fun place to work, perhaps this woman ran about the locker goosing coworkers with her prosthetic device.
On the other hand, if this woman just told workers" Look what I have,"
Then the word Prosthetic Device has medical connotation's, like a false arm or leg. Company's have to be careful here, anything with a medical name used by a worker can be taken as being unfair to the handicapped and any medical device to aid someone means they have some kind of handicap. Even a paper cut that causes pain and unable to do your job as usual is a handicap.
Face it, you are a Boss at a plant and a group of woman come to complain that a coworker has a Prosthetic dick under her clothing, out of sight, After you watch this woman from all angles and see nothing, do you demand she go to the plant nurse and drop her pants????
What caused anyone to go to management about this odd behavior, what harm was it doing anyone else unless the divice smelled like 4 day old salami .
The world has changed from 20 years ago. Workers no longer have to go to the plant nurse to explain a black eye, Workers with a skin condition do not have to be accused of being on drugs. A worker tells of off time making money by hooking, how can that get them fired from an hourly job?
WTF do we need Unions for the government has covered everything for the worker needs. This woman will win her fight, I hope.
I side with the dildo woman, With my and some coworkers weird sense of humor, if the device cost less then $10.00 we would have all gone out to get one. We would have had sword fights in the locker room and scared the hell out of the truckers waiting for our goods to be loaded.
Anyone ever work in a plant in production will know the job is a brain melt down, anything to break up the monotony of standing in one place and doing the same thing every 3 seconds. Once the hand eye cordonation is figured out, the body takes over and the brain is off somewhere else. Men do not do too well at this but woman are use to repetitive tasks.
So Miss dildo arrives, darn that must have been a hoot, what fun for the workers to watch, shame she was fired, had she been on second shift after Midnight, she a coworker would have those around her awake and laughing.
Rather work around Miss dildo then some nasty old lady that spends their free time reporting others for real or imagined infractions. The last thing anyone working in a factory wants is to be sourounded by 6 Church Lady's for 10 hours a day.
