Offsetting Global Warming: Molecule in Earth's Atmosphere Could 'Cool the Planet'
Offsetting Global Warming: Molecule in Earth's Atmosphere Could 'Cool the Planet'

ScienceDaily (Jan. 12, 2012) — Scientists have shown that a newly discovered molecule in Earth's atmosphere has the potential to play a significant role in off-setting global warming by cooling the planet.

In a breakthrough paper published in Science, researchers from The University of Manchester, The University of Bristol and Sandia National Laboratories report the potentially revolutionary effects of Criegee biradicals.

These invisible chemical intermediates are powerful oxidisers of pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide, produced by combustion, and can naturally clean up the atmosphere.

Although these chemical intermediates were hypothesised in the 1950s, it is only now that they have been detected. Scientists now believe that, with further research, these species could play a major role in off-setting climate change.

In other words, just what those of us sane have been saying about the scam all along, things will take care of themselves as far as climate goes.
They always have and they always will.

Primitives are always accentuating the negative, and ignoring the positive...

For example :

How much 'global warming' have humans prevented by extinguishing forest fires, and limiting their spread via fire breaks ?

I would imagine far more than 'damage' done by pollutants... but we don't talk about that, do we ?

Just as it would benefit everyone to allow judicious logging in most places.  Fewer trees would burn when there are fires, new trees would get a better chance to grow, and cheaper wood prices would help the housing and construction markets.

Indeed.

Hell, just unchecked fires alone - archeology indicates that before the western half of the United States was settled (even before the pilgrims settled the eastern half) pretty much everything that could burn west of Texas was always on fire, or recovering from an earlier fire. Tons & tons of CO2 released into the atmosphere every year had to do something, right ?? Right ? Primitives ? Bueller ?

Since settlement, wildfire frequency & spread has reduced. Up here in the northeast, we haven't had a major wildfire event in over a century.
