Title: Where do you live?
Post by: CG6468 on January 14, 2012, 09:09:19 PM
Enter your address, city, and then click on Get Started. Give it a short time to load the info.

 :o  :panic:

You and your neighbors (http://neighbors.whitepages.com/)

What does that do?  I'm not entering my personal home address on a website.

I used a neighbors address, cool site. Pretty accurate, and a little scary.

For sure. It also shows names of all the neighbors.

I entered my address.  I'm in the phone book, it's no secret.

Anyway, shocking to say the least.  I knew my neighbor's names but from what I can gather, the names that come up are the owners of the house. If your name is on the mortgage, it shows up. Let's just say I'm a little surprised at what I saw.  Shall we say creative financing ?  Questions were answered. I just always wondered, now I know.

It's funny to be listed with an address but no house shows up. The photos need updating. I know for a fact our house now shows up on gps.  It took a few years but it's there.

Then it took me down a few other blocks. I don't know any of those people but I kept seeing names I recognized.  Then it dawned on me.  When I click my wi fi connection, I see all the connections near me.  Now I know who's on that internet and who's trying to get some free wifi.

BWAHAHAHA !!!!!  What a cool tool.  I can't wait to show this to my husband.

Thanks !!

I entered our old house, apparently by the list of names the new owners are living with us.

Apparently San Fran's Carlos Rogers lives with us.  :whatever: His parent's home is 1022, not 1023, nerds who created this dumbass site. If he lived with me, he'd be going without dinner.

It's a pale attempt at playing "guess who?" using readily available public records and the phone book.

Meh.

My house has no listing, and I have owned it for 3 years.  WOOT!

I showed Mrs E the results when I plugged in our address.

She was shocked.

I told her that this is what happens when you fail to get an unlisted number.  :whatever:  Yeah, I know that mortgage and home ownership data are public, but the point is, she is entirely too trusting, too naive, and completely devoid of situational awareness.   :whatever:

I entered my address. My house doesn't have one of those orange boxes on it, however, the house to the east of me does....with my address and the neighbors information. It's almost as if my house doesn't exist, which I'm okay with. Haha!
