Woke up this morning and VERIZON had removed CURRENT TV from my lineup. Plenty of FOX still there.

I did a quick check and it appears, so far, to be the only change.

Then I checked and noted that there is still FOX NEWS, FOX POLITICS, FOX BUSINESS, FOX SPORTS, EVEN FOX MOVIES --a few with multiple channels per topic.

When I called Verizon, I had to switch to another 'tier of service' to get Current TV again.

Can you say "Suppression of Information by Corporations"?

I knew you could.......

It's well past time to consider satellite TV - anyone familiar with whether or not Current comes with that?
I know I can see it online, my objection is that it's being hidden from the general viewing public while Fox continues to rule.

1st the lie, it rolled out of the sack at the crack of noon and ran to get it's Olberdork talking points for the day.

After much commiserating and advice on how to beat the man comes this admission...

6. Not sure. Last bill says:

Verizon Triple Play
Verizon Freedom Essentials
FIOS TV Extreme HD
Movie Pkg.
Fios Internet 20/5

After I posted I had another thought. When our original 2-year bundle deal was up we didn't sign up for another one --it's been a year or so while we try to decide whether or not to get rid of our 'land-line' and go all-mobile with only one number. I sort of like having a land-line for home and appointment messages and telesales I can ignore while having a relatively cheap pay-as-you go phone for when I'm in the car or away from the house.

Anyway. Spouse and I now wonder if this was their way of making us call and getting us onto another bundle deal - especially now since I see we were on the "Extreme" pkg., just like your neighbor. We recorded a lot of CurrentTV and they COULD have the ability to get that info if they really wanted to get us to sign up for another bundle for two years. Don't want to be paranoid but 'they' do have a lot of ways to know a lot about our viewing info between having their DVR set box AND a TIVO too.

Perhaps when the neighbor's contract ends it will be different for them, too. Turns out, having to take the new deal is supposed to provide more channels for less AND will up the Internet to 35/35. We shall see when I get the fine print details.

Of course it's still a corporate owned media ploy to get her to call and listen to a sales pitch doncha know.

7. Even tho spouse is long-term IT hardware tech and gets several IT magazines a month plus knows a lot he said something about the fact that there are a lot of new streaming devices out there right now and sooner or later the best choices will rise to the top.
And she still wonders why Al Gore TV isn't part of the basic channel lineup.

A couple of DUmmies stand up and cheer for Al-Jazeera.  Not surprising, really.

4. Dish Network has it.

Along with Al-Jazeera (on FSTV).

I read this thread over there a little while ago, and thought about bringing it over.

When are the DUmmies going to realize that a very small percentage of American wants to hear this liberal spew on TV, Radio, and Print?

They will scream Suppression by Corporations and a list of other BS.  What they fail to realize is that radio and TV in particular are there to make money.  They make money by advertising.  Advertisers advertise because watchers/listeners are buying their products.  It's free market economics at it's finest.  Nobody wants to listen to Air America or BSNBC, therefore no one wants to advertise, therefore they cannot stay in business.

I don't know for a fact but I imagine the same is coming to fruition for Current TV who has Keith Bloberman has their "main" act.

Just as I suspected (https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1_____enUS445US445&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=%22Current+TV%22+ratings#q=%22Current+TV%22+ratings&hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1C1_____enUS445US445&prmd=imvnsu&source=univ&tbm=nws&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=WSAPT6v2E4b0sQLImIn3Aw&ved=0CDkQqAI&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&fp=4db18f81763b5f8f&biw=1280&bih=856)  Sky in the UK is dropping it also because of the horrible ratings.

I didn't know there was such a channel as I don't seek out pure BS on my TV, but I could have predicted this and bet my job, car, and cat on it.

As DUmmie louis-t reported, Dish does carry it, but they also carry a lot of low-demand channels includind FSTV and DOC (Which blows, Current TV actually has better documentaries than 'Documentary Channel' (DOC-TV)).  However, I don't know if it's in the basic package, we have a high-tier deal (No premium channels, though, just not worth it to us theses days).

DUmbass - its a matter of ratings, not a 'conspiracy' - CUrreNT TV is just that awful.

Current TV just lost 5% of its viewers.
I checked out AGTV when they were on Time Warner at my brother's place a few years ago.  The production quality and programming content resembled a YouTube playlist of previously-copyrighted material and home-movie-quality VHS recordings from the 90's.  Democracy Now! was the high point in their broadcast schedule.  I would rather be forced to watch PBS on a Sunday with the McLaughlin Group, that one "women's issues" show Elanor Holmes Norton is on, and Fons' & Porter's Love Of Quilting than Current TV.
