I don't know how much or if any dancers at the clubs have to give to the owners but if I made what they make I'd be doing it too. There are tons of places with dancers working the poles and they don;t exactly go away with minimum wages.

As a Conservative I believe people should be allowed to go into any business they wish and are good at. A girl that spends 5 years in dance school that has not the talent to go on Broadway and is stuck at a job selling shoes is going no where. A girl that spends 5 years learning to pole dance and makes $500.00 a night, well that takes talent.
REALITY here, the DC Madam did not round up girls on the streets, she hired girls with class, in college and those just out of college with a degree in something to allow them to actually talk to the men with money.
These girls were not the bimbos that Hugh Hefner had at his home, none of them would want to be caught dead in that place.

Unfortunately Sex not a want but a need for humans of both sexes. How can anyone fight about a need stronger then food or water???

Yeah, these women feel so objectified! One of the premium channels had a series about the Bunny Ranch. Those women are treated with more respect (they have the sweetest little housemother) than most office clerks I've seen, they're pampered beyond belief and genuinely seem to love their jobs. And evidently women can be chauvinists against themselves and other women since porn stars like Jenna Jameson and Belladonna have their own production companies and earn scads and wads of money from each and every production. The women who work at Hooters (and actually applied for jobs there on their own) don't want the jobs because there's always some kind of sports playing on the TV's in the background. Some women actually like attention from men. What a concept.
Oh and women objectify men too. I could give a flying rat's ass if these guys are usually gay cuz those are damn hot bods! We have an all male revue that comes every year to our little bar in Yoncalla. The place is packed! I like the fireman and the black guy that comes out in spats and a tux and does Puttin' on the Ritz (does he ever!). Our husbands never seem to mind given the agitated state we come home in.

Biker land, the land of the drug dealers and the macho man riding a hog comes to mind .Lived near Oakland CA. and knew a few wives of the bikers in the neighborhood. Interesting life they had.
Total different life style from any I had yet to see. The Bikers married woman that were to stay home and have babys, some got so fat they had problems riding on the back of a bike. The Bikers were for the most part family men, took care of their kids and when not out dealing drugs or robbing banks were mowing the lawn and taking the kids to school.
Their woman were an egnima to me, they were not the kind of woman that would walk into a bar and get picked up.
Some of the bikers were drop dead gorgious, body builders and succesfull business men. Their wives were mostly over weight, --must have been good cooks-- and excepted life as it was.
I went to a biker Rally one year and saw my neighbors men with some of the skankiest woman, looked like they were strung out on something and these were the biker chicks. Half dead from drugs ready to screw anything from a big dog to a donkey if told to.
Strange and interesting life style, the bikers were sure their wives would not stray from home and they were free to make use of the biker chicks with no problem with wife.
Then came the problem in the early 1970's one of the bikers wives who lived on the next street did the impossible, she lost 100 pounds, cut her hair and began to wear makeup. Was she nuts, her husband was vice president of the club and she began to hang out at the club house.
This took a 2 year ordeal for her to loose the weight and the other wives took notice and began to drop their weight, wear makeup and learn to walk in high heels.
Oh crap. now the bikers that had no fear of loosing their woman now had their own buddys sizing their wives up .

Life doesn't all ways work that way. One night I was awoken by fire trucks and ambluence on the next street. One Heck of a problem for the cops and the neighbors.

What the heck was going on, seems the biker the vice president of the well known bikers club was getting upset over his wife and others over their wives coming down to the club house and running out the biker chicks. Confession time here....
Several years ago during the dark days of Clinton I was in need of money to keep a roof over our heads so I spent a year as an exotic dancer. It was slow going at first as one needs to invest a chunk of money into tools of the trade. Costumes and shoes/boots are not inexpensive. One can get by with some undies from the Walmart at first but to actually make money you need the professional gear.
Once I was properly outfitted I began to make real money. A slow night for me was about $300. This was after my house fee and tips to the bouncers and DJ. It was a decent club with a strict no funny business policy. IE prostitution, drug use and other illegal acts were not tolerated and you would be fired on the spot.
That said I noticed two types of dancers. Ones who had a good night and would show up for the next shift completely broke. Or the ones that were socking the money away.
The second group were the ones that would dance for a few years then hang it all up. They were smart with their money and usually used the proceeds to pay for school or buy property.
The first group are the ones that are still attempting to strip for money well into their 30's and 40's and never seem to get ahead.
As far as who was exploiting who? IMHO it was the men who were being exploited night after night. Dancers are first and foremost saleswomen. I have seen a woman on her game easily relieve a man of several hundred dollars by exploiting his sexuality. DH let on that as far as the primitive brain of the male goes its "Not that I haven't seen breasts, I just haven't seen hers". Unless you are one of the neutered males over at DU then the average red blooded male likes to look at an attractive member of the opposite sex.

The funny thing is that I saw more and more couples show up in the club. Most of the women were getting into it and having fun and were great tippers. There was the occasional one that would just sit and scowl at us.
I also had one regular that his wife would give him money once a month to come in with his friends. Nice guy who would just sit and talk with me most of the time. I was getting ready to call :bs: on his story until she came with him one night and confirmed it. It seemed that the night he goes he came back home loaded for bear so to speak and the sex was great. :rotf:

Yeah, these women feel so objectified! One of the premium channels had a series about the Bunny Ranch. Those women are treated with more respect (they have the sweetest little housemother) than most office clerks I've seen, they're pampered beyond belief and genuinely seem to love their jobs. And evidently women can be chauvinists against themselves and other women since porn stars like Jenna Jameson and Belladonna have their own production companies and earn scads and wads of money from each and every production.
