14 Cattle Trucks Burned by Activists at Harris Ranch in Coalinga, California
For Immediate Release
January 9, 2012
Received anonymously:
at about 3:40 am on sunday, january 8th, 14 cattle trucks caught fire at the harris feeding company in coalinga, ca. containers of accelerant were placed beneath a row of 14 trucks with 4 digital timers used to light 4 of the containers and kerosene-soaked rope carrying the fire to the other 10 (a tactic adapted from Home Alone 2 ). we weren't sure how well this was going to work, so we waited until there was news reports before writing this. we were extremely pleased to see that all 14 trucks "were a total loss" with some being "completely melted to the ground."
we're not going to use this space to expound upon the horrors and injustices of factory farming. there is more than enough armchair-activists and those of passive politics who are more than willing to do that (anything to keep from getting their hands dirty). we, the unsilent minority (the 1%, if you will), choose a more direct form of action.
we're not delusional enough to believe that this action will shut down the harris feeding company, let alone have any effect on factory farming as a whole. but we maintain that this type of action still has worth, if not solely for the participant's peace of mind, then to show that despite guards, a constant worker presence, and razorwire fence, the enemy is still vulnerable.
finally, to all those who fantasize and romanticize about direct action yet remain on the fence: there is a lot of stuff that needs to be destroyed and we can't count on spontaneous combustion and careless welders to do all the work.
until next time...

there has always been people who found fault in the teachers, administrations, and the state`s role .today the teachers take the full brunt of the hatred of public education. we can blame both the democrats and the republicans for demonizing public education and public teachers. we can blame the guy who is our president and the person he appointed to "fix" public education.
this lady is another victim of the war on public education.
I wonder if the grammar and punctuation similarties are just coincidence??

Domestic terrorism plain and simple. I'm sure that the 0bama regime's DHS will be working on this full time.

They will probably work frantically to pass a law forcing this company to replace the trucks with electric vehicles...and send ALF a donation for doing their work for them. ::)

I fully support Harris Ranch's right to shoot arsonists on sight.

Why is it that these ****ers think they have the right to destroy the property of other law abiding people if they don't agree with the legal practices their perceived "enemy" is doing? Where is their tolerance?

You know, I rowed over to the island to see the whole conversation. To their credit they didn't approve of the tactics. But once again their stupidity trumps all. Feed lots and factory farms are terrible. We all know that but right now there's no other alternative to provide affordable, nutritious food to millions of people. Unless we mow down all their precious protected forests there simply isn't enough "free range" to accommodate the millions upon millions of cows needed to provide beef to consumers. Of course, beef prices would rise which would hurt another of their protected groups, "the poor". Several days worth of protein rich meals can be had from a chub of ground beef.
However, there is a solution for those who object most vehemently. I've yet to go into any grocery store that doesn't have over priced free range, organically grown beef, chicken, pork, lamb, whatever. It's not necessarily going to save a cow but I'm sure it will make them FEEL like they're saving the planet one bovine at a time. And if they really want to pay more than lip service to helping their local family farm they can go to eatwild.com for local meat, realmilk.com for raw organic milk (both places usually list eggs, honey and other farm goods available). Craig'slist is great for eggs as are feed stores.
As long as they make sure they don't buy eggs from "vegetarian" hens. Hens are not vegetarians and if they free range they're going to eat grubs, worms, bugs and the occasional dead rodent (my Buckeyes even hunt mice). In order to keep them UNnaturally vegetarian they have to keep them confined in a place where they have no access to fresh grass, seeds and other chicken delicacies. I suppose they could free range on concrete...

The ultimate irony would be if all the trucks were insured by Progressive..........that would cut into Barry's campaign contribution checks......

Not to mention union members losing their jobs.

While that is an eminently acceptable manner of dealing with arsonists, I am more partial to capturing them alive and tying them to a stake in the path of their own fire.

Better not be one of Obama's $100 a pound steak producers.

So It would seem that by posting this,OmahaSteve agrees with the tactics used since he didn't say otherwise. That should look really nice when he starts to campain for city council in Bellevue. Way to win votes there Steve. I wonder how many votes you will get now that you support terrorist.

DUmmies never think things through...hell, they never think period.
Around here, livestock, be it cows, chickens, turkeys, hogs, are loaded in the middle of the night for shipment to the meat processing plants. What if all the trucks had happened to be loaded and ready to haul the cows to slaughter. That would have been one heck of a BBQ and a not so nice way for the cows to die.

These people will put the rights of animals above the rights of humans, until one or two of them get shot and killed while commiting their little act of terrorism, then they will squeal about their human rights and their right to self expression. Guess what, if you thing you have no more rights to live that of an animal then you have the right to be shot like predatory vermin.

Even 'Free range' cattle get penned up and fed corn or a rich feed mix to fatten for 60-90 days before slaughter, or the meat just won't grade out high enough, or taste the way people expect it to.

I guess we were eating free range beef. We killed a bull/heifer/steer at around 500 pounds on the hoof. They had only been on grass and milk from the cow. We'd shut them up for a week or 10 days and feed them "sweet feed", hay and water. That was to insure they didn't have a built in bitter taste from wild onions, garlic and bitter weeds. Tasted pretty damn good to me.

Nothing wrong with that, of course the youngr they are the less they need the marbling to fatten them and tenderize the meat, but USDA grading if you're selling for market is pretty much all a matter of how much marbling there is. It does take a little while on rich feed to develop it, in a fully adult critter that's been eating just grass for a long time. The grading doesn't matter if you're going to eat it yourself, of course.
