PLEASE HELP FELLOW DU'ER!
Last edited Sun Jan 8, 2012, 04:04 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
(I was previously given permission by Skinner at DU2 to post periodically about http://www.wishadoo.org, with this required disclaimer: "The administrators of Democratic Underground have given permission for one discussion thread on this topic. The administrators of Democratic Underground make no claims regarding the legitimacy or illegitimacy of this fundraising effort. Permission was granted by Skinner on 8/6/2010, and the moderators have been notified." I hope this applies to DU3 as well. Thanks in advance. Also, hyperlinks not working; sorry )
For those of you not familiar with Wishadoo! it is a site dedicated to creating more compassionate, cooperative communities, and offers tools to put this into action. Just as DU has had a recent major upgrade, so did Wishadoo.
The primary tool is the Wishlist, "a craigslist of compassion."
A fellower DUer has an URGENT REQUEST:
http://www.wishadoo.org/wishlist/77/friend-who-is-terminal-needs-to-find-loving-home-for-her-two-cats/
Please, please read the above link and share it via email or if you're on Facebook, Twitter, wherever.
Time is of the essence, and finding a loving home -- one home -- for these two kitties would be such a blessing for this Wishadooer's friend, whose time to pass is drawing near.
Her final request is to find a home for her babies; that one thing would give her such peace of mind.
Please reply to the above link if you can help. The Wishadooer is far away from her friend, not in the same part of the country at all, but is trying to get the word out, especially to those in the Northeast, if not the New York area specifically.
There's an angel out there who can take both of these babies and provide a loving home, and help bring this woman peace....somewhere. Please spread the word to help find this person or family.
Thank you!
Yay for extended editing time!!! I JUST saw that the subject line had a huge typo...lolol

Friend Who Is Terminal Needs to Find Loving Home for Her Two Cats

I am posting a listing for my dear friend who is now on home hospice care and is terminally ill. She is located in NY. She needs to find a secure, loving, permanent indoor home for Bubble and Squeeks, her 7 yr. old tabby (brother and sister) cats. Recently she was able to place her 11 yr. old lab but finding a quiet good home (no children) for her two fur loved ones has proven much harder. I wish to help her bring closure to her situation and to find an honest, kind and safe home for them. Please no B Dealers apply. Please contact me for any more information and pre-screening. Have an adoption check ready
EDIT TO ADD PHOTO AND MORE INFO: The female (Bubble) is a grey tabby with pink nose and her brother (Squeeks) is brown with black tabby markings. They are 7 yrs. old, spayed & neutered.
Their owner -- my friend, who is passing from this world soon -- would rest so much easier if she could find a loving home for both Bubble and Squeeks. They must stay together, as you can imagine.
Please, please share this listing anywhere you can in the hopes the perfect person -- an angel for my friend and her babies -- will contact me.
THANK YOU!!!

but Ks is a bit far
I hear they have great ports in NY. They sell designer purses on every street corner too. On fold up tables. No sales tax.

With 1,300 friends, hopefully my page can help.

The last time there was a wishadon't scam at the DUmp, Pam popped up asking for them to pay her credit card bill.
Wonder how that worked out.
Wishadoo! is a worthy successor to The Human Fund (Money for People).
Anything with an exclamation mark in its name has gotta be good! Hillary! Lamar!

Me too and I despise cats!

DUmmies don't have friends, only comrades.

I knew that was coming, and DAT wins the prize.
I think the cats will find a home. It's really such a small thing to do, and then, the DUmmie can spend the rest of its life patting itself on the back for such heroic compassion. She'll tell the tale to anyone who is trapped. She'll write endless internet posts crowing about her kindness and generosity.

OMG! I totally missed this post, you guys are so bad sometimes! :lmao:

I guess a prayer is never wasted, but surely you know it's very unlikely the cats, or the friend, exist.

Send the cats to me. It's almost squirrel season, and I need to get in some target practice.........(http://www.nopc.info/forum/images/smilies/gunner.gif)

It would have been simple for the "friend" to contact a local rescue. The cats could have stayed in the home until another place was found. I did that last year when our little rescue female presented us with a litter before we could get her to the vet. We kept one and the rescue found homes for the rest.
On a side note it was pretty interesting that little 6 pound Misty had 5 kittens in her first (and only) litter. Poor little thing was wider than she was tall. I had to empathize as the boy was pretty hefty at birth himself and I knew what she was going through.:lmao:
-
What is the problem? You drop them off at the pound.
The pound keeps them for a few days, then puts them down.
Problem solved. We pay taxes for that service.

Oh GOBUCKS cut it out. :hammer:

Oh GOBUCKS cut it out.
Come on, it's one of the very few government services that works exactly as intended, at a reasonable cost.
