I'm not a churchy person but I went up to Plains, GA, to see Jimmy Carter preach at his church

I consider him one of THE BEST presidents we have ever had, and I'll argue anyone into the ground about that.

But aside from politics, here are some details of my visit.

The secret service was there, and frisked us, searched our purposes (lol), men's wallets, etc.
I sat in the front row, and he preached in a very interactive fashion. He asked us to tell where we were from.
He stands very straight and seems very fit.
He wore very sensible clothes, nothing at all flashy or expensive. Very plain man, like the town he is from (Plains, GA). lol
He has a memory that is astounding.
He used no cards to preach.
He is a lib through and through and made mention of some things that ordinary preachers might not, about poverty in this country and the world.
At the end, we were allowed to take 1 photo with him and his wife, if we desired (which everyone visiting did, as everyone visiting was ready with a camera)
His wife looks lovely.

Here's the Maranatha Church website, which has a photo of him preaching:

4. Ummm... some verse in the Bible? I'm not too into the Bible, so I spaced out a little, as I often

do in church LOL! I actually have been known to nod off in church.

However, he wove into the verse or verses he was discussing, the poverty we are ALLOWING to exist.

Unlike most preachers which talk about donating food, clothes, etc., he said we are PERMITTING poverty to exist, and that this is WRONG and not in the spirit of Jesus. And we are. Allowing poverty to exist, I mean.

That's what Occupy is about, by the way, pointing out things like that. I LOVE OCCUPY!!!!

Clearly an inspirational preacher if you can't even remember what he was preaching on...

2. I agree with you. He's definitely been the best one in my lifetime, hands down.

And no doubt one of the best of the 20th century.

DUmp link (http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002110211)

Having pondering it - I've decided he was the fifth best president of my lifetime, behind (in chronological order) Press. Reagan, Bush (H.W.), Clinton, and Bush (W.)...behind Pres. Obama.

I take into account that in her memoirs Lady Thatcher is very complimentary about him as a person.

Jimmuh's among the best of the 20th century!

Another illustration of why we call them DUmmies!

That's because you WOULD be arguing with the ground. No one is stupid enough to argue with someone so f'n stupid that they think Jimmah was one of the greatest presidents. They'll, rightly, assume you are mentally ill.

OK.  Now ask Jimmah to point out in the Bible where's it's the responsibility of gov't to see the needs of the poor are addressed and not the responsibility of individuals.  I'll stop you and Jimmah right now, because you can't.

If Jimmah didn't mention that it's individual responsibility and not collect gov't, then he preached something other than what the Bible teaches, even if he did hijack a verse.

Ask someone who was in DOD when he was President about how great he was, or someone who was in the intel biz how much good he and Stansfield Turner did for them.  And that's not even getting into the economic havoc he wrought domestically.

The fact that they think Carter (universally regarded as nearly the worst President in history) is great tells all one needs to know about the demented misfits on skins island.

I hate the muslim, but Jimmuh was so incompetent I was embarrassed.

1. No, "he has done his job fantastically."

We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. --MLK

DUmp grammarian #1 is moved to notice the proper though awkwardly-used adverb:

34. The -ly suffix is disappearing

It drives me crazy.

Remember this Apple slogan from 1997? "Think Different"

DUmp grammarian #2 then chimes in, when he should have remained silent.

He thinks common usage by the illiterate and the ebonically-challenged among us is "generally accepted":

82. I agree, but then you must be at least as old as I am

I think it's generally accepted now to interchange "good" and "well", to use "bad" as an adverb and to omit the "ly."

It is as accepted as the common democrat practice of inserting f-bombs into everyday language.

Grammarian #2 then uses spelling to confirm his standing as a crude DUmpmonkey:

15. I was on a commercial flight from The Twin Cities to Los Angeles

View profile
a few years ago. During the flight, I looked up from my book, and there was Jimmy Carter, walking down the aisle from First Class with a couple of SS agents. What he was doing was stopping at each row in Coach and speaking with the passengers. My wife and I were in the very back of the plane, but he made it all the way down the aisle. We both shook his hand and exchanged greetings with him.

The thing was that he didn't have to do that at all. He got on the plane after everyone else had boarded, so we'd never have known he was on that plane. As I watched, every single person wanted to shake his hand. Everyone.

A lovely man.

Or, Jimmy could have just sat his ass down in first class and endured the flight, without bothering the coach class folks.  Did you genuflect and kiss his ring MM?

Well, he was the worst president ever, but he WAS the president.

I'd be glad to shake his hand, and I'd tell my grandchildren about it.

You don't get many chances to meet a president on the hoof, for free.

Depends on your definition of "worst." For sheer incompetence, I think you can give it to Jimmy. But, It's going to take much longer to clean up Obama's mess, I'm afraid.

Carter wins for incompetence, but Obama wins as the worst since he is doing just what he planned to do to this country.

As a devout Christian, I can honestly state that I believe that in most cases a devout Christian would make a lousy President. As President he or she might be forced to make decisions that on one hand would uphold his or her faith but on the other hand be very bad for the country. The reverse of this would be true as well.

I've always thought that myself. There's the right way, the wrong way and what really needs to be done.

If Carter had been reelected the USSR would have won the cold war, gas would be $10/gallon, the USA would be a second tier power, and our society would consist of a super elite class and a poor worker class.  That is why the DUchebag thinks he was a great president. Instead we got Reagan and the exact opposite happened. Again, why the DUches think Reagan is the worst president ever.
