Jeezus H. Sufferin' Keerist. That's the stupidest shit I've ever heard of -- next to Barry being a viable presidential candy-date, that is.   :whatever:

DECATUR-A new law in this new year is meant to prevent one type of crime.

That new law requires customers buying products containing lye, like drain cleaner to show an ID.

The store clerk will then log the date and time of the purchase.  It's meant to  protect people from those who would use the chemicals to do harm.

According to the law, every store in Illinois that sells products regulated by the federal caustic poison act now has to maintain a registry of customers.

Kinda looks like Illinois is well on the way to becoming the next People's Republik of Illinoisistan, regulated by Premier Pat Quinn and his KGB-like thugs, the .

I wonder how long it'll take Quinn to wind up in jail. Becoming premier in Illinois seems to be a prerequisite in going to jail.

According to this article (http://qctimes.com/news/local/article_239ea346-3361-11e1-9a15-0019bb2963f4.html), they're also claiming this law will help cut down meth labs in that they use some of the chemicals to be regulated.

As I have no idea what's used to make meth, maybe this spin has merit -- maybe not. In either case, this is yet another example of government intrusion.

As if forcing somebody to cough up an ID (hell, any ol' ID will work, right?) is actually going to prevent somebody from spiking the punch....

asshats.
