Caroling and the homeless (more about a teen than occupy)
So I went to cover the Women of San Diego Occupy doing the last carols, for the season... no, there were no incidents, just one middle finger salute, and mostly people going about their business or happy to see them. So that went well and this time around Laurel and Hardy (Local Mall Cops) were absent. No, serious, they just let them be and raised the volume in the PA.
So on the way to my car there is this kid, could not be older than twenty, being generous, my guess not older than 18, probably run away teen. She's trying to get money for shelter tonight. No, it is not Minnesota but it is cold to sleep in the streets. Now shoppers at times ignored carolers, shoppers truly walked away from teen and avoided her... as if she had something infectious. I gave her five bucks for shelter, not enough... I know. And I also asked her if she wanted something to eat? She accepted and we walked back into Target... and I got her some food. I told her if she wanted something more substantial to order it. No coffee out for me this week, that's all... for the rest of the week in fact. But the reaction from the cashier was telling. It was a classic... she tried to avoid the kid's eyes.
It is sad we live in a country where we go out of our way to ignore this crisis in our midst.
And yes, this is partly what Occupy is about. My going out budget at times goes these days into getting people fed.
Of course I suggested one of the local shelters. If she was from out of town she might not know off it. She did... and his waiting time is horrendous. No, it is not him. This city was an estimated homeless population of 9K, and there are only 350 beds. And that is because there are 100 more due to the emergency winter shelter. She did tell me some things like her kid was taken by CPS... I ain't gonna judge. Many of our homeless have their kids taken away by CPS for being homeless... yup, JUST for being homeless... which is almost a crime now.
Just some food for thought two days before Christmas. I guess Hanukah Harry came for her, or Santa, or just a caring human being...

such a caring human being. ::)

Nutcase nadin never misses them eyes.
Remember how she and Sean Connery rolled their eyes at one another as they carried cases of canned milk out of the store?
Connery was still wearing his Red October uniform.
That was a couple of apocalypses ago.

Interesting. Let's have a look.

Notice how quickly she disparages part of the "99"?
Laurel and Hardy? Comeon now Nads, those are just working stiffs, they're just to provide a safe place to shop.
Run away teen, eh?
Why was said teen there? Looking for hand-outs perhaps?
Runaways are that way for a reason.
It's not because of abusive homes, it's because they refuse to accept the responsibility of growing up and becoming productive.
How many dirtbag hippies at your owsies group humps are "runaways"?
I'd be willing to wager, the majority.
Damn, Nads, you are one stupid scrunt.

A case in point about why the whole 99 thing got no real traction, aside from some MSM idiots trying to be trendy (Until even they realized it was going nowhere and dropped it). 95% of that supposed 99% doesn't believe these asshats speak for them and regard them merely as an embarassing nuisance.

Oh the horror and such humanity from nadin.

When a DUmmy like Nadin brags about helping the down and out...I have a hard time believing her.
Why do DUmmies have to blow a trumpet every time they claim to help the unfortunate?
In my experience the stingiest, most uncaring people have always been liberals.
Conservatives tend to be generous and then say nothing about it later.
Nadin, I'm calling you a LIAR on this.

Hmm, weren't they eyeing one another meaningfully over those same cases prior to carrying out the milk?

What does Nda do to make money? Just mooches off of the husband?

Nads has quite an extensive resume (http://www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,63006.msg727831.html#msg727831).

Works for me. :-)

If the homeless shelter there is in such bad shape, why isn't nads doing something to help them? Why just pick out one solitary kid and give her a few bucks? Why not skip getting coffee out all the time and send that money to help lots of kids? Or are things like shelters, food pantries, the Salvation Army, disaster relief organizations and all those other "boring" charities supposed to exist on what the rich give? Or does nads take it for granted that Christians will support all those other needs??

Update from nutcase nadin. Is there a difference between "occupier" and "panhandler"? Maybe not.
After march and GA I took one of our occupiers\homeless to dinner. See, they have taken that ability away... I can afford to feed one. (Ok three, I had extra food bars and I gave some money to a third on the way out at the trolley station)...
Will post photos and all that as soon as I finish the story and file it. Ok tell me the secret for some of our profesional journos, paging Mr. Pitt... how the hell do you do it? I am tired, and no I am not getting paid to do any of this... perhaps in the future. (I hope in the future)
Oh and I forgot, these days I no longer run out of juice... four batteries... that is nice.
Don't worry, nutcase, Pitt doesn't get paid either.

I don't expect to get paid either--but I'm doing it for the Greater Good of Humanity, after all--next week, when I send out a certain press release to the print, television, radio, and internet media in San Diego.

"I guess Hanukah Harry came for her, or Santa, or just a caring human being..."
Oh brother. ::) So she gave the kid $5 and something to eat from the Target lunch counter and she has practically dislocated her shoulder from patting herself on the back and deemed herself a Saint? :rotf:

Well, it is not true for all runaways or kids who get the boot that they are running away from responsibility and if they are shitty coping skills are learned somewhere. There are some crappy parents in this world who do their damndest to make growing up into a responsible adult near impossible for some kids, but that's another discussion. I've long ago attributed pollyanna thinking in regards to parents to the fact that many people have good, responsible, loving parents who love them. They don't know any other way and that's awesome that people can't imagine crappy parents--thank God for good parents that make those thoughts foreign to most :)
My thought on 'looking in her eyes' thing is that this young lady may be a problem regular who panhandles and the cashier knew it and probably was worried she might get in trouble for serving someone who may have been asked to leave the establishment before, but you were a paying customer so she was conflicted...just a thought there on the 'looking away thing'.
As for the rest, I think there is some reasonable reason to 'judge' in this situation. Most young women don't have babies taken by CPS unless their own habits, usually drug use, contribute to their children to be neglected or abused. This is especially true in a liberal haven like California. This young lady is probably a regular drug user who panhandles or sells herself to get high. You are an idiot Naden...the first clue she is problemed was not the runaway thing, but when she told you her child was taken by CPS.
BTW, perpetual homelessness SHOULD result in your losing your children. Notice I said PERPETUAL homelessness. Why should children have to pay for their parents inability to get their act together and live in a state of constant instability? I always wonder why liberals are more concerned about the feelings of perpetually homeless adults then providing the children they drag down with them some stability. I'd rather keep that crisis limited to just that ONE person rather then extend those problems to 2 or 3 others. At some point even with all the help in the world, some adults can never get their crap together; stop giving them help and make sure the kids have the stability their parents can't seem to provide. JMO of course. Get tired of allowing shitstains for parents all the resources to raise more shitstains. I was thinking about this a lot watching Gangland one night. I'm sure we essentially paid for the raising of most of those gangmembers and that's the best their egg and sperm donor could produce was a menace to socoety many generations over.

It is funny. I worked at the local shelter today ( they got to stay all day and sleep in. usually have to leave at 7 a.m.) and the these homeless guys didn't gripe about the 1%. They all complained that the government is claiming too much power and taxing too much.....then we went back to watching Raiders Of The Lost Ark. But these people were not perma homeless like the ones that blended in with OWS for drugs and sex. They just want work.
That reveloution of thers didn't get much traction.

Cool, Obamanaut showed up in that one!
