Title: Has it been 50 years?
Post by: rustybayonet on December 23, 2011, 07:25:23 AM
My bride and I tied the knot 50 years ago today.  I guess those that predicted it would only last 5 years are eating their words.

We renewed vows and had our party a couple of weeks ago.

Love is like an earthquake unpredictable, a little scary, but when the hard part is over you realize how lucky you truly are. ~ Anonymous ~

Newlyweds become 'oldyweds', and 'oldyweds' are the reasons that families work.~ Anonymous ~

Congratulations to the Bride & Groom.

Yep-- 'B-tt Head' is right, the bride did most of the organization and planning, as most females do for that sort of thing.  My claim to fame was the fact I did a hell-of-a-job writing checks; i.e. caterer, florist, invitations, hall rental, dinner the night before for out of town guests, hotel rental for those we couldn't accomodate at our house or daughters, and the after party, party, etc., etc., not to mention the Hawaii anniversary year trip we took.  After all is said, just remember 'fuzz/face' your day is coming, so warm up the pen cause it will get a workout. :catfight:

Dem sounds like fightin' words. That would be a sight to behold! Two old fart Coasties, fightin' over the last beer!  :rotf:

Uhh, where - exactly - are your grits located?

Didja fall into that cake after your lady quit supporting you in the standing position?  :lmao:

You can dress him up and buy him books, but he'll always be a transplant to Alabama!  :lmao:

I talked to him today, and he was as dirty as he ever was.  :panic:

PS - Rusty's wife is so nice to talk to. I hope they can make it to the Coast Guard reunion in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on 9/14-15.

Well - - - - - two years ago my wife and some other Coastie's wives closed the bar AFTER the reunion. One more chick could drive that over the edge!  :cheersmate:  :p  :o

Congratulations to you both!  :cheersmate: How wonderful to have spent the better part of your lives together.  Here's a wish for many more anniversaries, maybe not quite so expensive. :-)

50 years?  Was it an arranged marriage where you wed her before she was born or something? She looks much too young to have been married 50 years.  Congrats.

My wife and I will cross the 50 year mark on 7/11/2014 - if the world as we know it doesn't end on 12/21/2012.
