Title: Nature's perfect foods
Post by: jtyangel on May 05, 2008, 11:52:51 AM
As I was sitting here drooling over a pineapple I was cutting up for my youngest and I, I got to thinking as the sweet, tangy taste of this delectable treat hit my mouth that this has got to be one of the most perfect natural treats out there. If there is a presence of God it is evident in something like this. Pineapple is just...perfect in sooo many ways.

So I was wondering, what do you all consider one of nature's most perfect foods and why?

*goes back to my delicious pineapple*

All of God's Creation is perfect, except for the free will of mankind.  The most perfect of God's Creation is the acorn.  We know this because there is no bcorn.  If God had gone into the soft drink business we would all be drinking 1Up.

1Up...that's what I call what people do when they just have to have a better story  then the person before them--1upmanship.

jty, are you going to send ninja lawyers out for thread stealing? :-)

and how dare you murder an innocent pineapple!!! Consider it's feelings!!! Being ripped apart and consumed with such animal abandon!  :rotf:

Personally, I like all fruits and veggies. Except lima beans. They can live in harmony. I won't be murdering any of them. :lmao:

I have to get over to that thread :lmao:

the pineapple did indeed scream in terror as I tore its prickly scalp out to get to its divine soft underbelly. I plan to commit genocide on the pineapple population. How do you like them apples? So to write... :naughty:

For me it's cabbage...I won't be boiling any cabbage alive...it can lead its stinky life with no ill will from me. I only eat it if someone has torn it to bits ahead of time and doused it in pickling and changed its name to sauerkraut.

Mmm, pineapple sounds really good right now.    I do have to run to the grocery store later, so I might get some.  :)

I also find pomegranates to be a perfect food of Nature.    So tedious to eat, but I love fruits with a certain tartness to them.

I'm going to make a confession, sometimes for lunch I will make a bag of frozen peas, add a lot of butter (real butter) and a ton of pepper and eat the whole thing.

Blackberries...definitely blackberries. I wait for blackberry season every year. They're available at roadsides everywhere for free (I have a ton growing here...takes quite a bit of management to keep them in line but very worth it). They're sweet, juicy, and an excellent source of antioxidants. It requires exercise, effort, and fresh air to pick them so you get more than nutrition.

And they remind me of summers with my grandparents. We'd stop along country roads and pick to our heart's content...by the time we were done my cousins and I would have purple shirts, fingers, and tongues...and a few stickers, too...most of which could be overcome with a run through the sprinkler. Then came the pie and blackberry jam!

Are Crowder peas also called Black Eyed Peas?  Because I LOVE LOVE LOVE black eyed peas slow cooked with a hunk of bacon and some ketchup on them.  Oh holy smoke I am drooling like a dog looking at a slab of beef.

No, different genus and species. Crowder Peas (http://www.victoryseeds.com/catalog/vegetable/peas/peas_southern.html) are listed here.

I'm bananas for bananas. Super healthy, easy open package (peel), mixes well with pudding, bread and daiquiri's. Can carbo load on them before a workout and they are handy to carry around.

Cashews are the least fattening if you'll crack the shell between your teeth and get the nut out with your tongue.

The problem I have with tomatoes is that if they (raw) are part of anything, especially sandwiches, all I can taste is the tomatoes.  Same for tacos and the like.

And I love the way they make guac in Mexico -- the best places do it tableside.

This isn't regular though..this is the stomach where the food first goes to being crampy. I don't know..maybe the fat content in avocados is too high for me? I love the things though.  :bawl:

Then "food" needs to be re-defined to include things you inhale.

For you, BC...consider the definition expanded. :-)
