Title: 2012 posts that stand alone
Post by: franksolich on December 14, 2011, 11:47:21 PM
Well, with the close of voting for the top primitives of 2011, time to start this.

Go to it, folks; I'm sure 2012 is going to give us a lot of great stand-alone quotes!

I'll start this party. After all, we all may be dead in just a few short months...  :rotf: :whatever:

Strikes me as positively Rotarian! (Or perhaps another R-word with four syllables.)
http://www.democraticunderground.com/100258259

I think this primitive is referring to the word "Re-tar-ded." That's three syllables, genius. THREE!

Ironically in a thread about how Bush took all these vacations, and Obama...well..really hasn't taken any.  :banghead: Which, is also a fairly re-tar-ded thought to even lean towards agreeing with.

2. I pursue my passion regardless

If food manufacturing is your passion, just do it, regardless of whether there is a job for you. That's what I did.

I took temp jobs to survive until I finally got a job in my field.

Looking back though, I wish I could have just lived with my parents until I found the best job. It would have been better if someone could have just paid for my room and board for however many years it took until I found the perfect job. That's what alot of people do, and I am jealous of them, but I never had anyone to take care of me, so I had to get a survival job and creep my way up the career ladder very slowly. Having nobody to support me in any way had devastating effects, but whatever.

I have an insane post.  In a thread about girlscouts, and how some are not buying cookies because of their support for PP, someone says

16. I am so old that politically correct used to mean polite.

There are so many things...

1. You abuse a little girl in front of me you are going to get a fist sandwich.

2. GS are much better than BS because they don't care if you are atheist or agnostic.

3. I miss my godchild Chloe. Her mother and she disappeared. Manly because her mother felt hostility from my SO. Which is true. I don't know where they are because Mommy can't hold a job or find a place to stay. I still love them.

4. I love little girls. Anything you give them they love.  Unlike boys.

Thank heaven for little girls.

No one forsaw the intense propaganda campaign by the energy industry coming.

Unfortunately, most of the morons that buy that garbage can't wrap their heads around the concept "Heat = Energy". Therefore, when it snows, they believe that it somehow means the Earth isn't 'warmer'.

So there's: GW (global warming), CC (climate change), AGW (anthropogenic global warming), ACC (anthropogenic climate change), and AGCC (anthropogenic global climate change). - As we went through the hoops of finding a term that would reflect the phenomenon more accurately for the morons.

Hey moron, there is a perfectly good term that doesn't require an agenda to use it.  We call it weather. It changes from season to season and from year to year. Deal with it.

Maybe there's a force greater than libs, greater than mankind, that is by far the largest influence on the Earth's weather and climate. Could this force be called the sun ? Meteorologists refer to this force as insolation. Incoming Solar Radiation. In fact, for a very long time meteorologists have referred to this force as the sole cause for all weather. Could it be that simple ? Also, we have another force that may be more powerful than libs. Gravity. This force keeps the earth in a repetitive, and predictable orbit around the sun. Could this phenomena account for changing climate ?

For Those Know Know Who My Moniker Is And The Parallels That Line Up With A Popular Sci Fi Show

The longest running science fiction television show in history addressed the 1% - 99% issue on many episodes that were done since 1963. The master's nemesis was "DR WHO" that was started November 23, 1963. The BBC has now been through 10 reincarnations of the Doctor since its birth.

The most telling episode that I can remember is one where "the Doctor" ends up on this city in the clouds where these very well off beings are living the life of luxury. They are in a dispute with miners on the home planet down below who are working in deadly conditions mining an ore that is necessary for the city in the clouds to survive. In his own unique way the time traveling Doctor (Tom Baker) and his compnion resolves the conflict where the leaders in the city are brutalizing the miners.

How truth is stranger than fiction. The gated communities, private country clubs, private beaches, private islands all have the same separating and unequal elements that the episode that I mention here does. The less fortunate are now not only being brutalized they are being demonized. They are the reason for all our problems according to the elite. The realityis that exploitation by the powerful, the connected, the rich and GOP are the real cause of the problem.

The only problem is that we do not have Dr Who to rescue us from these brutal conflicts. We only have ourselves.

The more "skilled" a person is, the better they're doing individually, which greatly reduces the drive to form a union.

The less skilled, the more pressure to form a union because the employees are more easily replaced, and thus more abused by management.

That's why Wal-Mart has to work very hard to disrupt unionizing, while IBM doesn't....for now.

I said it every *******ed day I was in school.

And then, in 6th grade, while the girls were in "health class",

We boys were taken to the Gym and indoctrinated into the "domino theory"

AND THEN:

A mere 6 years later (!!!) I volunteered to go to Viet Nam.

I boarded the plane like a medicated cow, comforted in the idea that I was going to live up to the Pledge.

But don't do it on MY account.

And don't do it over some bullshit pledge to a flag that means exactly dick these days.

Maybe that's all it ever meant.

20. The willful rejection of reality is stunning.

I wonder what it's like going through life disassociated from actual reality, and living in a fantasy world of one's own making which is then reinforced by like-minded individuals whose world-view is so myopic as to be mostly blind.

Seems that a firm belief in some sort of deity to make things all better for them is one criteria, so magical thinking is definitely involved on a fairly high level.

To profess hatred of a caricature of another human being whose evil persona was invented in one's own mind is quite telling, indeed.
