Title: BSS have you heard anything about Bruce concert dates?
Post by: Ballygrl on December 11, 2011, 10:10:24 PM
Backstreets has European dates listed, it goes from March to July, so I assume the US tour will begin after that? are you planning on going if there's an Albany show?

I'm figuring that JLM will start the US portion right around the second week of August, to give the band a week or so to recover from Europe.  If they come to Albany (a given, IMO), the current plan is to be there.

I'm thinking about branching out a little, of course I'm going to get tickets to the Jersey show, but I'm thinking about getting tickets to NY and or Philly.

I saw the 8/11/03 concert at Lincoln Financial Field.  Awesome show.

The Philly shows are said to be the best shows for some reason, my Husband saw him in Philly years ago and agrees with that.

The reason that the Philly shows are so good is this:  When he was first starting out, even before he hit it big in Jersey, a DJ in Philly (whose name escapes me now, but he died a few years ago) heard him and said, "This guy is the next big thing."  He then started to play Springsteen's stuff on his radio show, and got a big following for it.  So, when Springsteen and the ESB would go to Philly, their shows were sold out and they had very enthusiastic crowds.  Springsteen repays the favor every time he plays there.

One more thing, Bally--I've got a name for you to ponder.

Mark Rivera.

Do you know who he is?

"The Big Man's" replacement? I see that he has played with Billy Joel and Elton John along with Ringos All-Star Band. Looks like a good fit IMO. Sorry BSS I know you were addressing Bally but i'm a Bruce fan too! :-)

No biggie.  I saw a picture of Steve Van Zandt and Rivera being interviewed last week (it might have been on Backstreets.com).  It got the wheels turning in my head.  I'd love to see Rivera join the ESB.

Never heard of him BSS, I had to look him up, like Toasted said, maybe a replacement for Clarence? I can't remember the guys name but we were watching a concert on the Palladium Channel with Bruce and he had this guy on Sax, I was blown away, the guy was awesome, my Husband mentioned his name and I had to google it, the guy has been in some groups and is supposedly famous BUT he's an avowed Socialist, like really into it, totally turned me off. I just asked my Husband now about the guys name and he forgot it, such a shame that a brilliant artist like that can identify with such a horrible ideology.

If Rivera's a socialist . . . he'll blend in perfectly with Bruce. :banghead:

Found it! the guys name is Tom Morello, he was playing Sax with Bruce at a concert on the Palladium Channel, but it turns out he's mostly a Singer and Guitar Player, here' a clip of him playing Guitar with Bruce:

America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you’ve lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn’t belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don’t care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve.

Morello is/was the guitar player for Rage Against the Machine.  RATM is a favorite of the OWS mob, which should tell you what you need to know about his beliefs.

Yep, Wikipedia mentioned some of his activism and OWS was mentioned.

BTW, WTF with these people who are half Kenyan and their crazy beliefs? they're abandoned by their Fathers yet they cling to their Fathers ideologies.

Getting back to the subject of Mark Rivera . . . if (and that's a huge "if") he has been tapped to be Clarence's replacement, he will slide right into the slot.  From what I remember of him, he's a heluva player with an awesome stage presence.  Sure, the purists who don't want to accept The Big Man's death won't like Rivera (or whoever is the actual replacement), but then they'll hear him play . . . I see Rivera as more a SVZ-type of guy, with the ability to blow a mean sax.

Boy do I hope I'm right about Rivera being Clarence's replacement!
