Fights and a shooting close down Northland Mall Saturday night
Several fights broke out at Northland Mall and gunshots were fired in the parking lot as police arrested at least one teenager Saturday night.
The mall was hosting a Coats for Kids drive that was being put on by radio station WJLB 98FM but the fights shutdown the event - and the mall - early.
“People were getting pushed, and they had to keep stopping on air telling people to stop pushing, and then there was fighting, and then we had to end it early,” said WJLB intern Chevelle Potts.
There were hundreds of people inside the mall to see several singers like Diggy Simmons and Bow Wow who were set to perform for the fundraiser, but the fighting broke out before they even took the stage.

No, it was a lack of decency and self control by the animals who showed up to get free stuff.

An event for a good cause ends in fights. What has this world come to??????????? :mental:

It's come to me first; I want to; up yours; screw you; hooray for ME and other anti-American traits supported by liberals.

My gosh. Lack of security my ass. I have been to a mall in Madison when Jessica Simpson was shopping (when she was "popular") and I never was pushed over and ran down. But then again, most of the shoppers didn't even realize she was in there. When did rappers start performing at malls? I thought mall performances were mostly for pop princes and princesses...

Shouldn't need security at an event like this. Frickin' animals.
I remember going to Northland Mall to see the Easter Bunny when I was very, very young. It was such a big deal to go there. I sure feel for those who can't move away, or have some loyalty to the area. And my kids used to ask me why I left...

It is very rare for me to go to an event with tons of people nowadays. I'm not even a fan of shopping on days that are crazy. I'm more likely to lose sleep and go late at night to avoid even the smallest crowds.
I'm not phobic in any way. I don't have any mental disorders that won't allow me to do these things. It just seems that any time I have ventured out, there has been some level of chaos that I am not interested in being a part of. I don't even want to witness them.
Even in the Midwest, things get crazy. I'm more comfortable with watching crazy on television, in hi-def.

I hate to say this but no one ever got shot at at a Jessica Simpson concert but plenty have at rappers concerts and at certain movies like Boyz in tha Hood.

When I was a projectionist, the theater was always trashed and damaged during the Black films. Always, every time. I had to turn up the volume so high that the neighboring theaters' patrons would complain.

Are you saying there may have been good reasons for the "Jim Crow" laws.

What are you saying? That African-Americans are genetically incapable of behaving in public? I don't think that's what you were trying to say, but that's what it sounds like.
Please keep your comments about bad behavior of others directed toward just the perpetrators. instead of their racial group. We don't need to have racial stereotyping here.
Would have preferred if you had just repeated a comment from another thread: "Ain't no one raised them right"

Well, these were street punks with their hos. Call them what you may.

We don't need to categorize them using racially charged words. There's a number of perfectly suitable words to describe them. A couple that come to mind off the top of my head are criminal and felon
