San Diego Republican Lincoln Club In Bad Taste With “Occupy Christmas†Invite
The Lincoln Club of San Diego is displaying some real bad taste with their new Christmas event invite. The group – an organized and ideological collection of Republican business people have sent out a colorful invite for their Grant Hotel shindig for December 8th entitled “Occupy Christmas†in an obvious pimp off the Occupy Wall Street movement. The card includes four camping tents with three signs made to look like protest signs that say “save the date†– well, you can see it.
To top it off, the keynote speaker is Steve Breen, the editorial cartoonist for the San Diego U-T.
So why is this worthy of note at the OB Rag?
We wanted to show how this clear mockery of the occupy movement by the invite is simply soaked in elitist hypocrisy, and not only makes fun of the movement that has highlighted the disparity in income between the very, very rich and the rest of us, it disparages protest and dissent in general.

Now let me add one more thing... one of the staffers for Lauri zaft had an elve party at the Civic Center (where the cops never harassed them), mocking the movement... yup she IS a republican.
But it seems these guys missed the memo from Frank Lutz.
You know, when it comes to "taste," I'll bet nadin's place is jammed with kitsch.

4. I think the larger insult is to mock a movement for social justice on a CHRISTmas event.

5. Well, just maybe
Several Occupy groups need to show up for the soiree, "to show support" for another occupy movement.

So she wants to get "tipped."
"Journalese" yeah, sure.

Hmmm...seems to me a certain DOTY candidate is all butt-hurt over the fact that OWS is being mocked and ridiculed.

I'm still boggling the mind, trying to imagine what the yenta's home looks like.
First, we have a derivation of the Ashkenazi in America, which usually displayed an abominable taste in furnishings.
And the double-whammy is the yenta's Mexican heritage.
I've been in both kinds of homes; trust me, usually they don't have any taste, making things look like the furnishings for a fancy-house in the Wild West.

This is probably an accurate description of her home, with some Mexican junk mixed in:
Kitsch (English pronunciation: /ˈkɪtʃ/, loanword from German) is a form of art that is considered an inferior, tasteless copy of an extant style of art or a worthless imitation of art of recognized value. The concept is associated with the deliberate use of elements that may be thought of as cultural icons while making cheap mass-produced objects that are unoriginal. Kitsch also refers to the types of art that are aesthetically deficient (whether or not being sentimental, glamorous, theatrical, or creative) and that make creative gestures which merely imitate the superficial appearances of art through repeated conventions and formulae. Excessive sentimentality often is associated with the term.
The contemporary definition of kitsch is considered derogatory, denoting works executed to pander to popular demand alone and purely for commercial purposes rather than works created as self-expression by an artist. The term is generally reserved for unsubstantial and gaudy works that are calculated to have popular appeal and are considered pretentious and shallow rather than genuine artistic efforts.
The concept of kitsch is applied to artwork that was a response to the 19th century art with aesthetics that convey exaggerated sentimentality and melodrama, hence, kitsch art is closely associated with sentimental art.
Uh huh. Put the usual standard Mexican kitsch in with this, and nadin's got a true House of Horrors, when it comes to taste.

I imagine it resembles an old gypsy hovel of discarded and yard-sale furniture and questionable decoration (don't forget the framed pictures of I, Nadin hanging on the walls).

As you might suspect, nadin visits this thread, and so I decided to give her a free interior decoration evaluation.
It's Saturday night.....

Then I would like to humbly suggest she kiss my lilly white ass.

I would guess the opposite, except for numerous photos of the heroine herself, possibly even a small shrine or two in her honor.
Furniture-wise, I'd expect the nadinlair to be as spare and spartan as can be imagined. Her husband, if indeed he exists, was a career submariner, not a life that encourages the accumulation of a lot of junk. Nutcase nadin herself, being deeply involved in global salvation and promoting the dictatorship of the proletariat, hardly strikes one as a hausfrau. Physically, she's well along into her babushkahood, but with zero domestic skill or interest.
