Question about the guns forum

Is the terms "hoplophobe or hoplophile" subject to the same range of restrictions as the term "gun nut"is?

"hoplophobe or hoplophile" : Never heard those words before....are they derived from "Hop-Along-Cassidy"?...are they derogatory words aimed at my childhood hero?

A hoplophobe is a person who is afflicted with an irrational fear of firearms.

From Hoplite - the Greek citizen heavy infantryman, who was responsible to supply his own armor and weapons, his 'Panoply' - I believe.

Maybe they come from Hoppe's powder solvent. I use the stuff just because I like how it smells.
