Another effect of OWS... RE MEDIA
This is not well understood, but here is an effect of OWS. Last night during the LA eviction I watched OakSho on the stream. Me and at one point 40K people watched this happening live.
Ok so what? One thing that we all are aware is that the MSM is part of the problem. The technology at present allows for the beginnings of a new, powerful, alternate media. I suspect this is one of the reasons the corporations want an end to this self produced crap that invades the net. They REALIZE they are losing control. But this is a MAJOR event. We are seeing a new media emerging. It is not Current TV, even if i love it. That is still following the OLD model. This is closer to the Union papers of the early 20th century.
And this is an effect that is not that obvious, but the contrast between the mainstream coverage and the ustreamers is like that of papers of record and the worker press. We are literally seeing an explosion and one that is bringing back another era of journalism... and no, this is not the 1960s.
My prediction, people are JUST realizing the power of this new media, and yes... it will grow. And yes, it IS the liberal media that we are constantly told is in the MSM.
The boldened part has Freudian implications, by the way, but never mind.
