Occupy Christmas

What if we boycott the holiday spending and donate to homeless shelters instead?

Don't kill a tree for Christ's sake - don't waste paper on materialism.

I love it when they get these boycott ideas.  :-)

3. Christmas trees are a crop farmed by many family farms and

they are a vital part of Oregon's economy. If the land was not used to grow trees, it would not be a forest instead, and those trees do not come from natural woods. They are farmed, like corn.
I'll have a tree. 99% of the gifts I do buy are locally made by wee, tiny businesses.

5. No matter how hard one tries, one can not make xmas tree farms a "green" enterprise.

Like corn, there is a carbon footprint to harvesting, growing, shipping, replanting, etc. holiday trees.

I hate to see the public believing that it's OK.

It won't kill the planet, but it's not helpful.

Trees should be left to grow and thrive, tractors and trucks and cars of people going out to buy these and bring them home and the garbage trucks that pick them up and all that crap....

....It needs to stop.

Yep poor Skippy can't stand the fact that maybe some folks actually enjoy Christmas.  :whatever:

Wasn't Obama trying to pass a Christmas tree tax to be used to get people to buy more Christmas trees?

19. I harvest my own tree off my own land, I buy only union-made or Made in USA goods, or I buy gift- certificates for services (restaurants, massages). That about sums it up.

Sure you do.    :whatever:

How does this person's brain work?  Trees are a renewable resource.  I'm certain I would get nowhere trying to educate this person about how harvesting trees, whether from a farm or the forest, can be part of sensible management and benefit the ecosystem of both.

"Why don't the DUmmies ever suggest boycotting the IRS"

I think I may need to see a doctor.

Who the hell says so?  You?  YOU?  You don't matter.  You have no say in how I spend my life.  You are nothing.  You're not the special snowflake you've been told you were.  You are absolutely inconsequential.  Now get the hell out of my Christmas.

And just what would the homeless shelter do with the 18 cents, 4 empty beer bottles worth a dime each, a 20 cent off coupon at Burger King and a expired voucher for a free massage at Horse with no brains single wide trailer?

Apparently people weren't meant to be allowed to live under any circumstances.

Because the DUches already DO boycott the IRS.

These are the same people who want to do all-local food, etc.

Yeah, try growing oranges in Maine.  Try having certain crops in certain other areas.  The fertilizers, pesticides, etc., to get the shit to even grow is enough to counter any perceived savings to either Mother Gaia or the DUmmies pocketbooks.

Understatement of the decade.

Green you say, buy a dieing tree for Christmass???

We have had a manufactured Christmass Tree for close to 18 years.   Every year same thing, get it out of the box, put on same ornaments, oh what fun for Hubby as he loves to start the lights up say after Thanksgiving.

Problem, I worked for less then a month at a plant in VA. that makes these trees 25 years ago.   Union shop with no benefits, 7 1/2 hours a day so we only got a 15 minute break each day and most workers were as I was told on prison work release.

Worse job I ever had making these dam trees, no stools to sit on, no reason not to, most jobs could be done sitting down but everyone had to stand in one spot for hours.    Union dues taken out from my pay check but
no info about the union or who were the shop leaders.

Every year when Hubby gets the tree out of the box I am reminded of the blood sweat and tears that go into producing this product.   Then I remember that I do not want a real once alive tree dieing in my home.

Complicated, why does life have to be so darn complicated????

You guys go ahead and tell your children that you are boycotting Christmas. No one will notice except your children, lord knows your boycotting never accomplishes anything.

And the hits keep on coming.

The next one would be when their kids go back to school. There's always the discussion where all of the kids compare what they got for Christmas. Their kids will be embarrassed. This is where the kids will start to second guess the sanity of their parents.

Kids are usually smarter than that, but these are DUmmie kids, being taught by DUmmie teachers, in schools run by DUmmie administrators, funded by DUmmie government...

And each one who support this will be making whinny posts on Dec 25th about how their RW fundy relatives ignored them on Christmas by not giving them a gift.

That all of a sudden gave me flashback:  Someone had once suggested to bobolink that she keep a pot of basil or parsley or something like that growing in her car.   :rotf:

Wonder how the Occutards are making out with the Black Friday mobs?
