Occupy and the 'poor folks just trying to get to work' meme
I have heard it from a few folks now and am really surprised. But this is how deep the sleep of the proletariat goes...
"All those protestors, blocking bridges, blocking freeways, etc...they are just making it worse for those poor folks just trying to get to work."
This is where the idea of "occupy the Holidays" is good for us, because we can have the conversations with those we love the most at the dinner table and help pass along the wisdom of how these movements work.
Honestly, I suggest each and every one of us who considers themselves 'aligned with the cause' to start reading up on our RIGHTS and the history of NON-Violent protest and how we CHANGE happens in large groups like this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonviolent_resistance ...a good start)

Don't we all wish we were having dinner with DUmmy FirstLight's folks?

These goons are so pathetic that they can't behave like a human being even for a couple of hours.

My husband's uber-liberal aunt is going to be in town the same weekend we are. She brings politics into EVERY conversation. She is just like a DUmmy, but I highly doubt she's a DU member. I'll have to start recording her political rants as soon as she starts up. :rotf:
I just had to see what this guy's plan was. If it's just talking about the 99%, he will end up shutting out all of his family members. If any dumb ass starts with that topic at any dinner table, I will just tune them out.

When I meet stupid people like that, I've actively tried to steer them to DU. "Hey, there's this great internet forum I know you'll love."

You too, eh? :fuelfire: :cheersmate:

I swear I love this time of year. Not only because of time shared with family but to watch the morons over at that site reveal what misfits they truly are. I swear they get positively :panic: :panic: when the holidays are upon us.

Well seren-dipity-do, file this under SO DO I! Great minds do indeed think a like. :rotf:
I am constantly sending folk over there. Some are saved and converted others join the flock providing more entertainment. (Although I can't say I have ever had a Prominent Primitive featured here.)

I am glad I don't have to deal with 'tards like the DUmmies in my family. If one of my family said even half the mess the DUmmies claim to at the dinner table, they'd be out in the front yard getting handed an ass whipping before they could say "wealth redistribution".

Yep! The third week in November starts their orgy of Holiday unhappiness. We should actually have an award go to the most Holiday miserable dummy along with the DOTY! :-)

I'll do it. I'll tell her how great it is. She will probably register, but not post much. But hey, if I can get one new person for Skinner to possibly get donations from... then hey, I win.

If the people who were protesting were poor themselves, you might have an argument. Instead, it's just one more case of arrogant middle and upper class liberals willing to sacrifice the poor "for their own good". Look at who's protesting. They occasionally trot out the odd homeless person, military veteran, or someone in financial straits, but the vast majority are college kids who've not yet even looked for a job, ex-60's hippies who've retired from their capitalism-created careers looking to recapture their lost youth, and trust fund babies who have no need for a job to begin with.
Heck, you have to have a certain amount of financial security to begin with to even participate in this crap. People who are really in trouble are too busy looking for work and trying to survive to participate indefinitely in a street carnival. They have to feed themselves and their families. But Leftists know what's best for everyone else more than the people themselves, so if they have to starve a few in order to save them, it's all good. Where would we be without liberals telling us what's in our best interests?

"Honest officer, I didn't hit him with a baseball bat...it was an Ash drumstick."
Reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode where a lady beat her husband to death with a frozen leg of lamb. She then cooks it and feeds it to the investigating detectives.
As to the FirstLight DUmmy, if started shit at my dinner, she'd be on her chin in the driveway and her tofuturkey following closely behind.

I have to plead guilty on this one as well.

Oh hell yeah. I give the DUmp lots of business. Thank God it's only been to point, laugh and say WTF ? I tell everyone, you don't know crazy. Let me show you. :-)
I have a feeling FirstLight's family already knows how "off " she is.
Hard to believe we came from the same womb ...

My sister is about 5 years older than me. We have always been pretty different. I am the expressive one, trying to "find myself" and having many jobs and lifestyles in that search...while she did exactly as she was trained to do, get a good job, credit, husband, etc...
Now, her and her husband have a pretty nice house in Washoe Co. she works full time and he is home to take care of the kids since he is on permanent disability (3 back surgeries...) They have a boat, cars, and TONS of debt...because they live on their plastic and if anything should happen to her job their lifestyle would be in the crapper. I have often envied her for her "stable" life, and the fact that she has done it all "right" They don't make $250K a year though, they are just average americans by most standards.
I am a renter and have a section 8 subsidy for help to pay my rent, single mom of 3 and 2 bad exes over the last 20 years..i have never owned anything of value, can't get a credit card to save my life and have trouble just keeping a bank account open, because I play it so close to the vest to live. i did find my passion in career, i work part time for my church and the other half of my time I pick up freelancing writing gigs with our local news rag and do web design and mktg...still it is nickels and dimes compared to a steady job - but 40+ hours a week has never worked for me, especially with a special needs child.
Now - here's what I am getting to.
My sis & B-i-L were up at the folk's cabin this weekend, and I stooped by to see them and let our kids play. Within the first 5 minutes, my sister nods to my obama button and says, "you better take that off before my husband sees it."
I was like...:"excuuse me?"
she says "well, he's for the other ones" (couldn't even say Mccain or palin's names?)
i said "too bad he will be crying in his beer Nov 5th"
she says "what a sad day that will be"
again, shocked...I said "what, are you serious?"
she said "we don't like 'that one'...can't trust him...don't buy his spiel, he's fake..."
Are you ****ing kidding me!???
I changed the subject and walked away, trying to avoid a confrontation......went to play with the kids. As I am standing there talking to her about our health, etc... I am thinking I don't even know this person, she is my sister, and I know her less than an acquaintance...how are we even of the same womb and upbringing... !
so as we are all going out to the cars in about an hour,
Her husband makes a snide comment about tearing off my bumper stickers...
I just looked them both in the face and said
"you know, YES, I AM a peace-mongering, liberal, care for my fellow man, hippie.... there's one in every family I guess, Better get used to it!"
I kept it light, but they could tell I wasn't going to feel ashamed for my choices.
enough said, I got the kids in the car and got out of there before I got mad....
they wanted to get together for lunch tomorrow but we were busy and I won't have to deal with them until after the election...
I got home and called my Mom, just to say I couldn't believe that she had swung that way... and she said they don't even vote! ...so they have no real right to an opinion since they don't care enough to vote! This is my southern, Barack-voting Momma who grew up deep in Mississippi and just recently decided He was the only hope we had for the future!
Good, two LESS we have to worry about!
ugh.
I love my sister, but sometimes I think my mom had an affair with the milkman because I am SO different from her and my dad! Yikes!
To be a fly on that wall. :rotf:

What high-handed arrogance!
Dandi's response:

I like your turn of phrase.
I have a running list I keep during the year in anticipation of DOTY. I have on there: "FirstLight--Welfare Queen." We are to accept wisdom from someone who cannot even support themselves? Seems to me to be a sackful of lifelong mistakes.

What kind of moron goes around in a regular setting wearing a f'n Obama button on their shirt?
-
What gets me is that liberals like that think 'finding themselves' is actually productive and nobel. All those other people are doing what they were 'trained' to do. They don't stop and consider for a second that their lack of commitment to anything might be some indicate some kind of instability in their personality that is actually a disadvantage and not really how people are wired to be ie their brain is an anomaly. The thing is when she insults her sister by saying she's basically a trained animal, she reveals just how jealous she is of the fact that her sister is 'normal' and she is not. If she really accepted herself as flighty and original, the life her sister chose would not affect her in the least, especially being the open-minded liberal she is. :whatever: :lmao:
