This is the TRUE reason they cleared out the encampments...
Edited on Sat Nov-19-11 12:51 AM by Ken Burch
The camps were the beginnings of a community...the community needed for a culture of resistance.
Simply allowing that many people who refuse to accept that things MUST be the way they are is the true threat that Occupy posed and continues to pose to the powers-that-be.
It was never about "sanitation".
It was never about "crime".
It was about people getting together in large groups and having them show that people in such groups can help rather than harm each other. The longer those groups survive, the more human connections can be built within them, the more abundant the evidence that they can give to people who want a better world that, despite the sneering, hate-based corporate propaganda, they are NOT alone, the greater the likelihood that these communities will demonstrate that we can run the country, and the rest of the world can run itself, without the need for the "services" of the arrogant, the violent, and the greedy.
This is what our political class could not allow to continue uninterrupted.
This is why Occupy, in newer and more creative forms, must and WILL continue.

Once again the DUmmies are too smart to be fooled. We really didn't mind the shit piled up, the diseases being passed back and forth, and all the crimes, it was just an excuse to break up the community of the future. :mental:
Talk about delusions.

Hello camel, may I introduce you to mister straw.
Get in the barrel, Ken.
What a whiney little bitch.

The only "community", or in this case, colony being dispersed was the colony of diseases being incubated/spread by a bunch of hippie retreads/wanabes.
Instead of moving them out and cleaning up, perhaps they should quarantine these "communities" and let them die in their own filth.

That's what I was thinking.

No - THIS is the true reason for the coordinated action against OWS by Democrat party officials..
Remember How #OWS Was More Popular Than the Tea Party? Well...

Public Policy Polling, the first national pollster to start asking about Occupy Wall Street, finds the movement's image suffering as the Tea Party's image marginally recovers. Here's the new poll; here's the poll from October 13. The trends:
Do you support or oppose the goals of the Occupy Wall Street movement?
Support: 33% (-2)
Oppose: 45% (+9)
Do you have a higher opinion of the Occupy Wall Street movement or the Tea Party movement?
Occupy: 37% (-3)
Tea Party: 43% (+3)
Bad enough for liberals; worse is an overall rise in enthusiasm for conservative projects.
Do you support or oppose the goals of the Tea Party movement?
Support: 42% (+3)
Oppose: 45% (+0)
Do you think the Republicans are doing a better job than the Democrats did while in charge of the House of Representatives, a worse job, or about the same?
A better job: 37% (+5)
A worse job: 41% (-4)
About the same: 21% (-1)
PPP doesn't go into the reasons for the drop in Occupy support and rise in conservative support, but I think we all remember the 1960s, don't we? This is a classic reaction to scenes of Occupiers clashing with cities and police who want to clear them out. It's a reflection of a steady thrum-thrum of viral Internet articles and local news reports about the dark side of Occupation -- Kalle Lasn's crazy anti-Jewish rant from 2002, the popular Fox News stories about ACORN running the movement, reports of sexual assault, etc. Hey, this is why the chin-stroking left (which includes AdBusters!) is talking about moving beyong camps.
The moment Liberal-leaning PPP released this poll showing that OWS is now costing support for Democrats instead of enhancing it, the hammer came down hard. So, I figure now you will claim David Weigel is a rethug plant - sent to discredit OWS...
Suck on that Primitives.
-
Wow, thanks for clearing that up, Ben. And here I thought all the time it was the scabies, lice, TB, STD's, rapes, overdoses, shitting in the streets, alleys, and doorsteps that was causing them to lose support.

Bull and Horse Shit, the problem is these people want to change things by moving onto public property and disrupting the lives of anyone in the area.
No reason they could not move onto rented land and pitched tent, except rented land has to be paid for.
Then there is the fact they would have to walk, bike ,ride or pay to take a city bus every day to the protest area. Gee whizz, they have to get off their shaggy ass and WALK--gasp a mile or so twice a day??? All this work [oops did I say the nasty 4 lettered word]
Anyone remember Maynard G. Krebs that WOULD BE TERRIFIED AT THE 4 LETTER WORD, " work"?
These leader less people, or so they think, being used by a few shysters trying to get their hands on the donation money, what a con game. If everyone is marching to their own drummer, the band would not play in Harmony. Just insane sounds that remind me of finger nails on a chalk board.

Lying imbecile.
He apparently thinks nobody cared about the spreading diseases, the multitude of safety/ fire- code violations (Of the sort that massive lawsuits tend to be made of), and the myriad of reports of violence and general lawlessness all coming from the OWS encampment, but that it's ALL because we didn't like a community forming.
Never mind the countless other legal, orderly community- organizing projects based out of churches and philanthropic work which actually DID help people and WEREN'T made up of lawless vermin, and received the blessing of everyone.
btw, if he really wants to come up with an ulterior motive for tearing down the encampment, the only one I can think of is that Bloomberg knew that NYC is a very popular tourist destination around this time of year with a lot of very high- profile events planned that the rest of the country will be watching (i.e. the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, Christmas in Rockefeller Center), and he didn't want those Occupy freaks to make his city (And by extension, himself) look bad by disrupting the events (Which they inevitably would have tried to do, being the crass and selfish attention- whores that they are, if Bloomberg hadn't put his foot down) and harassing/ terrorizing the tourists.

OH I don't know about all that, Bloomburg had a problem and had to figure out how to deal with it.
It started small, a minor boil on his butt, he went back and forth of what to do, lance the sucker or take antibiotics. Much to take into consideration here, will the encampment become a draw for tourists, THEN as it grew and the owners of the park made no objection, even Obama gave them a pass, he found his hands tied.
As the action began to spread to other states and city's he must have spoken with the Mayors and Governors of those states and most found themselves also hamstrung as they had no help or advice from the government.
Going in too soon and cleaning out the camps was dangerous. Who knew what child of a millionare who donated to their war chest was about to be arrested or pepper sprayed in the action.
On and on this went spreading over seas and growing like a new bacteria with no known drug to stop it.
So Bloomburg and others were advised to sit back for a few months to see what was going on in the camps. They found all kinds of interesting human nature going on, drugs, disease, murder, no leader, just a rag tag bunch of folks who were supported by someone or someones that donated food, clothing and went so far as to set up Library of 500+ books for the campers. Good meals were donated, all one could wish except bathroom facilities provided. Naturally the outsiders were drawn to free food, free anything.
The Police Superiors over reactive in many cases, at first, World wide coverage of them loosing it and pepper spraying innocent folks trying to get home from work. This did not look good in any city, Now what??
Bloomburg and the other Mayors of other states finally found an excuse to dismantled the camps, disease, and crime from with in or without the camps.
I believe they did well to wait, to go in too soon may have caused riots, total chaos for the city's. They took their time, waited to see how things were going and then moved in with enough excuses that we the public can understand.
Not an easy job for any Mayor to decide what to do when the President has given his support to these conditions.
So ever get that feeling that something is not what it seems??? Sort of like meeting a woman in a bar and not knowing why you suspect she has a dick under her skirt. Nothing stands out just a though that comes to mind if you are sober and see there is something that is off, perhaps the size of the hands, the over actions of the body movement.
This is much like this to me, we know there are 5-6 people that coordinate these protests and they and only they are in charge of half a million in hard cash.
Then there is the question of who benefits politically -----Not the Republicans that's for sure. is this all a ploy to get votes for Obama, will next spring be interesting as the antiwar street Dem's cause riots and pull in every one on wellfare, and anyone who refuses to blame Obama for this mess.????
Ask the supporters of the OWS who is to blame, they have no idea and will not blame Obama.
This race for the next 4 years will be perhaps the most important election we ever had in America and no one is going to play fair, it will be blood and guts. Here I thought Nixon and the dirty tricks and his Plumbers were extraordinary, Damn this next year will be so much worse, Poor Cain, poor Perry, then Gingrich with his big baggage in tow---
Now is there any person with a way to find out the goodies on Obamas personal life and not be found floating in the river???

Contain it. Confine it. Kill it.

Contain it. Confine it. Kill it.
I'm all for that.
People should live in houses built by themselves, rather than trashing what they have, and then moving onto another house because it's nicer and cleaner (i.e., primitives moving to Vermont and the South, after they've made a mess of their old homes.....and who messed up Vermont and are messing up the South).

Said as the women in OWS huddle together in small "rape free zones/tents" :whatever:

Sorry but when things and life gets dangerous then it is time to GO HOME.
Rape free zones, is there any such thing, Pack your bags and move on, daylight, nothing is forcing them to stay there.
Are these woman crazy, have they no way to fight back,? Sounds like a bunch of kids waiting to be rescued by the adults.
Unless these woman are all physically disadvantaged or mentally impaired, why are they huddling and not arming themselves with what ever they can find??? Say a rock in a sock is a good defence method, a two by fore stops some problems.
Rover you make it sound like females that seek sanctuary are woos-es. Let me tell you these woman are not huddled in fear in that tent. They are making plans on how to take down the Monsters. They go to the tent for temporary sanctuary and make plans for survival, no woman leaves the tent unless they are armed and dangerous.
Just wait until you meet up with a group of abused or raped woman. These gals are MAD, not the kind to huddle anywhere. Male rape can turn the most mild woman into a Warrior, [ men have to excuse their violence against them by calling them Lesbo's ] not so, men can rape women and not understand why a woman that likes men will come after them-----
Personal, I love my husband but you rape me I will come for you and all of your kind, then go home and make love with my husband and then go after the next rapist that infects the community.

This might be a silly question but what happened to all the money they had in the bank?
-
Another silly question: What happened to the guy that handcuffed his arm inside the barrel full of cement?
-
I think a wall to keep them in would have been the correct path. The world missed a live experiment with collectivism and the inevitable fail it has been, would have been, and always will be.
-
Another silly question: What happened to the guy that handcuffed his arm inside the barrel full of cement?
It turned out he was a fraud, the whole thing was secretly arranged in such a way that he could easily get out any time he wanted. They regularly switch out the protestors pretending to be chained inside the barrel.
In other words, he was a lying coward with no dedication, like 90% of the Occupy freaks.

Actually my point was that the women are actively discouraged from complaining to the authorities. Matters such as rape and sexual assault are handled internally with counseling and a stern talking to with possible finger wagging at the perps.
The women that do willingly occupy the rape free zones are encouraged not to make a fuss by the camp leaders and are not planning on "taking down the monsters" and the only people taking up arms in the camps are those who are confronting the police.

If vestanumbers would start posting at the DUmp, nutcase nadin would be in big trouble for DOTY.
I'm sure nadin at one time or another has written "two-by-fore", but she's never dreamed of "woos-es".

I don't know, but the way things have gone down, I can definitely see it as being beneficial for Republicans. The Occupy freaks' actions have caused much of the American public to see the true, ugly face of the far left, and the fact that so many Democratic politicians openly supported those nutjobs will be sure to cost them a good deal of votes.
It'll also enable whoever becomes the Republican candidate for President to save a fortune on campaign ads: All he'll need to do for a commercial is show footage of the Occupiers engaging in their typical violence and lawlessness, insert the sound byte of Obama expressing his support for them, and say, "These are the people Obama supports."

You're not familiar with dear vesta yet, are you, sir?

32. The paradigm we have endured for roughly 2,000 years is just about done...it's Competition and the resulting violence and conquering and oppression. It has gone about as far as it can go.
The new paradigm is one of Cooperation as demonstrated by the OWS Movement...it's time has come. The Earth can not survive without Cooperation.
May Wall Street self-destruct.
Um... What in the **** is she talking about? Christianity?

I wonder.
But I think "competition" and "violence" go back way earlier than that.
