It the reason Obama has cozied up to the movement.
I read it at FR whilst I was at work, and I want to get the OP right.
One of the protesters let it slip Tuesday at Occupy Oakland. and another one in New York.
Mannn's paraphrase. "It doesn't matter that they kicked us out. Every police action like this costs the city millions of dollars."
The movement has nothing to do with Wall street. Its all about bankrupting the cities! Destroy the existing powers so you can rebuild a commie paradise.
Alinsky 101.
This is why Obama and the democrats are aligning with the movement.
This is why we have not heard a list of demands...demands are not important.
This is why civil disobedience is increasing.
OWS want to bankrupt the urban centers. The Tea Party stopped the Democrat program in 2010. This is the way for Progressives to continue to destroy the economy.
I wanted to say this and get it down in pixels....let me find that article, and I'll post it here.

Entirely possible, but since the cities involved are all run by Democrats and Democrat machines, and generally in Democrat-run states, it's not the most well-thought-through plan in the world. It's going to come home to roost on the Dems long before it smashes the State, like the malaise and corruption of the Dinkins mayorship laid the groundwork for Giuliani to move up in NYC.
Like all complicated plans, if this actually was one, it doesn't seem to have successfully crossed the L/D intact.

At an Occupy Wall Street offshoot event, an Occupy Oakland protester had the following to say: (Headline: 1,000 at old Occupy Oakland camp to discuss future)
"If they (police) take over the camp, we're going to reoccupy," Ronald "Rasta" Jones, 31, an Oakland resident who had lived in the Occupy Oakland camp since its first day, Oct. 10, said before officers moved in around 5 a.m. to evict people. "Our objective is for them to keep spending money. ... We're not going to stop."
Jones has let the cat out of the bag. Occupy Oakland/Wall Street is the Cloward and Piven strategy, out on the streets. Overload and collapse the system.

I could never figure out, how exactly the Clower- Piven plan was supposed to make things better. Then again most sane people can't figure that mystery out.

Its not meant to make things better... Communists (hiding behind the name: Socialism) cannot succeed in a prosperous country. Prosperity must be torn down so the social order can be rebuilt

Spot on. Sadly though, instigators of this movement depend on the ignorance of their followers, and never state the political affiliations behind their thought process. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that 90% of Occupiers do not understand that they are protesting FOR Marxism/Communism. Let the economy turn around when an (R) takes over; they begin to actually make money (except for the idiots that majored in Puppetry and Womyn's studies), and watch the sparks fly when they have to redistribute THEIR money.

Yes, the idea of C-P is that particularly by overstressing the entitlement system and intensive abuse of legal process to that end, the machinery of the State can be destroyed, and ultimately replaced by a far-Left system of social and economic organization.
It's a flawed strategy for two major reasons.
First, it depends on a competent far-Left system being ready to take over and quickly implement itself, and the world has yet to see a competent far-Left system. Failure to immediately deliver the goods will quickly render the Commies (Or whatever) as unpopular, and subject to the same forces of destruction, as the government/economy they so recently brought down, with a reactionary Right-wing oligarchy that can restore basic services and meet needs being the more likely outcome. This is not the Russia of 1917 or the France of 1789 with a numerically-huge, disaffected, and politically-penetrated military waiting to assist a revolution, most of the rank and file of any militias would actually be taking political stances more like the Freikorps of 1919 Germany the Garde Nationale of 1789 France.
Second, it is all posited on a non-adaptive, rigid reaction to the worsening situation by the government in power, which is an extremely stupid assumption to make when dealing with any institution run by live humans instead of some straw man or computer game single-player-opponent algorithm. Despite all the bad-mouthing from both sides about gridlock etc. in our system of government, it's really pretty damned adaptive to impending challenges, it's just not real good on the 10+ year-out horizon stuff.
Cloward and Piven were Leftist ideologue true believers academic dipshits, with a fundamentally stupid idea which has been turned into a bogeyman by the Right. It can do a lot of damage, but it's not nearly as dangerous in the real world as everyone wants to paint it.
