Midnight. The police surrounded the Zucotti park. Eviction notices had been served earlier. The park is gonna get cleaned. The protesters refused and pepper spray and nightsticks were used. many arrests.
The protesters are OUT of the park right now and everything (including computers, cell phones and communications gear) have been loaded into trash compacter garbage trucks, destroyed and hauled away! And the cash donations may have been tossed in the trash too.
The protesters have regrouped in a near by park and are vowing to shut down Broadway during rush hour in retaliation. Micheal Moore seems to be leading the OWS street via twitter...they have a leader.
Bloomberg, ever the wimp, says the evacuation is temporary, but tents will no longer be allowed.

People this is just a sampling of the massive midnight outrage at DU. Before the livestream went down the mods there banned me for saying things like, "Come on folks, its not so bad. at least you can get a shower in jail. and they have BATHROOMS! whats not to love?"
--the ban must have been local, cause I've been able to troll the rest of the Occupy livestreams. Trolls are 50% fo the comments that I can see.

All that's left of the NY wall street camp. Get this, a FLEET of dump trucks hauled the trash/camp away!

Thought that would brighten up your morning!

Police Order Protesters to Vacate 'Occupy Wall Street' Camp at Zuccotti Park
NEW YORK – Police arrested 70 protesters at New York's Zuccotti Park early Tuesday, including some who chained themselves together, while clearing the park so that sanitation crews could clean it.
The officers arrived just after midnight and handed out letters to protesters ordering them to temporarily evacuate the park. Campers were told to remove their tents and all their belongings, the New York Post reported.
The eviction letters declared, "The city has determined that the continued occupation of Zuccotti Park poses an increasing health and fire safety hazard.
"We also require that you immediately leave the park on a temporary basis so it can be cleared and restored for its intended use.
"You will be allowed to return to the park in several hours, when this work is complete. If you decide to return, you will not be permitted to bring tents, sleeping bags, tarps and similar materials with you."

this is the only livestream working in NYC.
The hippies have relocated in Foley park. They have just voted to go to sleep. I guess the blocking Broadway during rush hour is not going on for the moment.

Watched about a minute of the livestream. Couldn't stand the stupid any longer than that.
What a bunch of pathetic, moronic, shiftless, helpless, hopeless, dirty, brainless LOSERS! One guy bitching and whining about his tent: "That was my home, man!" I guess you're "homeless" now, asshole!
Relocate the bunch of them to the middle of a Panamanian jungle, along with any college profs that had anything to do with their "education".
Welcome to the real world, LOSERS!

BWA HA HA HA HA! Police are starting to line Foley park where the protesters are "sleeping."
City parks now have a curfew of 10PM. Everyone out at that point.
They had an argument with a lawyer over the right to occupy private property. The lawyer spoke about law, the protestor spoke only to emotion.
No one is sleeping they are chanting again.

It took this long for Bloomberg to realize this wasn't the democrats version of the Tea Party.

My only real disappointment is that I was hoping for a guest appearance by St. Rachel of the Pancake.

Too bad it wasn't about 20-30 degrees colder this morning. Water cannons would have been a hoot.

The city handed out eviction notices and these bozos still left all their stuff behind to be crushed, thrown out, or confiscated?
Yeah, these are the smart ones we should be afraid of.

http://gothamist.com/2011/11/15/city_claims_occupy_wall_street_prot.php
Occupiers Were Stockpiling Weapons in Zuccotti Park
Deputy Mayor Cas Holloway filed a motion on behalf of the city today opposing a court order requiring the NYPD to allow Occupy Wall Street demonstrators back into Zuccotti Park. In filing the motion, Holloway asserted that "people who have a known history of violent interaction with the police†have been gathering in the park, and “makeshift items†that he said could be used as weapons, "such as cardboard tubes with metal pipes inside, had been observed among the occupiers' possessions." He also noted that after the October 1st Brooklyn Bridge march, "knives, mace and hypodermic needles were observed discarded on the roadway."

The live feed is down to ONE battery. They will be up for 3 more hours. Ha!
The judge ruled against OWS. They can occupy the park around the clock, but NO tents/tarps/sleeping bags/stoves, fuel of any sort....in other words, no camping.

4. I hope they appeal. But they don't need tents
or sleeping bags to stay there. They can do what the Egyptians did, occupy in shifts. No need to sleep there, probably better to be awake anyhow and to get some sleep during the day.
Meantime they should appeal. And as the NYT said today, all they've done is 'revive the movement' and strengthen it.
Delusional post of the day, both the poster and the NYT:

BTW, the weather is unseasonably warm, when the cold weather moves in they'll scatter like roaches.
-
Lord Rove has driven the weather machine towards New York City.
Tonight's forecast, 60 percent chance of showers, low 54.
Tomorrow, RAIN. High of 58.
Tomorrow night, MORE RAIN. Low of 45.
Looking at the extended forecast, nothing terribly distressing--a few rain showers here and there, no temperatures below the upper 30's at night. Bummer. I was hoping for another Snowtober, this time followed up by a nice cold snap.
-
It should have never gotten to this point, the first time it started to get filthy there, they should have been thrown out on their asses.

That's what you idiots get for investing in pizza and dope instead of some Gen 3 NV optics.

If Giuliani was in charge they would've been booted the 1st night. Sean said that Bloomberg is the reason why this ridiculous movement spread, if he nipped it in the bud it would've ended.

Yes, but don't forget, all their expensive electronic toys (Laptops, cameras, etc., ironically enough produced by the same capitalist corporations that they seem to despise) are now crushed to bits in a landfill somewhere. That's gotta hurt those spoiled brats a lot more than a quick blast from a tazer.
-
no temperatures below the upper 30's at night
A wet upper thirties is mighty uncomfortable, especially if you've lived the cushy life, and haven't been to Basic Training.
I don't know why the NYT is getting into bed with this. Is this the financial revival they're hoping for?
-

It still sucks just as much even if you have been through it, you just have a real good idea of exactly how much it's going to suck.
:-)

Good call.
Bloomberg didn't grow enough balls to crack down on them until two factors came to his attention:
1. He realized how lawless and violent the Occupy freaks had become, and how much their encampment had begun to turn into one gigantic fire/ safety hazard, of the sort that lawsuits are made of.
2. Tourism is always a very important contributor to NYC's economy, especially around the holidays, between the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and Christmas in Rockefeller Center and everything else. He didn't want to run the risk of the Occupy freaks disrupting those events, or harassing or terrorizing tourists.
As you said, Giuliani would have kicked those freaks out right away and saved a lot of decent citizens a lot of misery.

Oh my. They are already putting out books about this OWS bs. Ok it is a Amazon e book but still....
http://www.amazon.com/October-2011-Battle-Brooklyn-ebook/dp/B005Y27VLU/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1321481689&sr=1-1
Nice to know that part of the 99 cent price will be going to the evil 1% Amazon Corp. Only a evil corporation like Amazon could have made it possable for a asshat to put out a book like that with their huge web site and innovative Kindles.

The first tent has been set up in another park. Way to defy the law, idiots.
