I have to agree with sparklyscuckold, Paterno needed to go.

Sounds more like Paterno decided to quit rather then he was fired. See Paterno letter explaining why he is resigning:

From the Pittsburgh Post Gazette:

Here is the full statement Joe Paterno released this morning in announcing that he will retire as Penn State University's football coach at the end of the current season:

"I am absolutely devastated by the developments in this case. I grieve for the children and their families, and I pray for their comfort and relief.

"I have come to work every day for the last 61 years with one clear goal in mind: To serve the best interests of this university and the young men who have been entrusted to my care. I have the same goal today.

"That's why I have decided to announce my retirement effective at the end of this season. At this moment the Board of Trustees should not spend a single minute discussing my status. They have far more important matters to address. I want to make this as easy for them as I possibly can.

"This is a tragedy. It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more.

"My goals now are to keep my commitments to my players and staff and finish the season with dignity and determination. And then I will spend the rest of my life doing everything I can to help this university."

The sparkling husband dude's been all over this story the past few days, when it first started breaking.

He's convinced the Vatican had something to do with what happened.

Whenever I see that stupid term "nooz" I figure it's Nads.  Now Stinky's picked up on it.  Will he be telling everyone to go read some history books next?  I wonder which ones he'll be suggesting?

What I still don't understand about this situation is why didn't the person that actually witness the act call the police? Honestly the first person to be under fire for a cover up should be him.

EVERYONE AND ANYONE that knew just a whiff of this boy being raped should be liable.  How can a decent human being not freak out on hearing about some guy walking in on another in the shower room sodomizing a young boy?  Just as guilty in my opinion.

God, this subject just gets to me because I start imagining someone doing that to my son/daughter and I just get really emotional.  I would kill someone and if I was on a jury over someone that killed someone who hurt their child I wouldn't convict.  There are some things you don't mess with; children and redheads.

And I am a redhead with a child! :-)
If I walk in on a scene like that the first thing I would have done is make my presence known so the rape would stop. While dialing the police.

He reported it to the university president.  The two of them did nothing else about it.  (They were both obligated to call the police.  That scumbag should have been arrested the next day.)

Actually, the sparkling husband dude's been using "nooz" for years, but perhaps you missed it.

I figure crazy nadin picked it up from reading him.

The other word the sparkling husband dude uses that drives me up a wall is the '70's-sounding "teevee."

Another redhead here chiming in  :cheersmate:

That is the part that I don't understand.  Why wouldn't you at least speak up to stop a crime in action?  Why would he walk away and tell somebody else?

I carry a folding knife on me at all times. Somebody wouldn't want me to walk in on that scene, cause the first thing I'd do is pull the sick bastard off the kid. Then, I dunno if I'd just start puncturing him, or if I'd tell his coward ass to sit right there in the corner while I call the cops. It wouldn't be a pretty situation, and I may very well lose myself.

They can't be rehabilitated. For crying out loud, hardcore prisoners even have a code for these sick f*cks: Kill' em!

and people saying Paterno did what he was supposed to do?  NO NO NO!  Being told something like that should have bothered the fluck out of him and he wouldn't be able to sleep not knowing what the outcome of him telling on the guy. He should have been contacting WHOEVER he could until something was done.  Just as guilty, he let that crap carry on.

I wouldn't have done what JoPa did. Like I have said, I would have taken waaaaaay more drastic action. What he did was morly shady. However, why is he the one strung up on the crucifix when guys like McIcantrememberhisdamnname actually walked in on the disgusting event, probably watched for a while, and did absolutely NOTHING! The man still has a job! It absolutely SICKENS me. My stomach is literally turning thinking about it.

Yes, BUT Paterno knew and he didn't follow through.  Does the guy not have grandkids?  how would he like someone to handle it if they heard rumor his grandson was being sodomized?    I bet he wouldn't just tell someone and walk away.

Agreed. This whole thing is a fustercluck.

I can't believe there were fans on tv chanting Joes' name and saying "One more Game".  Hello!  you stupid future OWS people, a few kids were raped.  Who cares about your stupid game, grow up or hurry up and die. :hammer:

If I hear one more person around here defending these shitheads I will lose my ever loving mind!  I can't believe that people are so caught up in a sport that they would excuse the rape of children!  It isn't like Joe Paterno and his staff heard that someone may have patted a boy on the ass after a good play.  This piece of shit was raping children orally and anally!  There is no ****ing excuse!  I would have killed the sick ****. (redhead too)

I'm still surprised the political left cares about this except to try to appear "normal" on some level.  Age of Consent laws being struck down is a liberal desire.  I have no doubt the sparkling husband primitive believes age of consent to be a barbaric law kept in place by those who aren't as enlightened as is he and the rest of the political left, but they can't say it outloud.
