Today's WTF moment: Occupy Oakland to deposit $20K with Wells Fargo!!

Occupy Oakland has voted to deposit $20,000 with Wells Fargo Bank -- just days after Occupy protesters shattered windows of one of the bank's downtown Oakland branches during the group's attempt to stage a general strike in the embattled East Bay city.
The decision was posted at Occupy Oakland's site for its general assembly. According to the link, the group made the decision to deposit the $20,000 with Wells at a meeting on Monday night....
Some members of the assembly, during the meeting, raised concerns about using Wells Fargo for the group's bank....
Occupy Oakland has pilloried Chase Bank, Citibank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo Bank and other major American financial companies for triggering some of the nation's economic ailments.
Okay, so it takes time to transfer funds to a credit union. But there are several non-Big Four banks within blocks of Oscar Grant Plaza, including One PacificCoast Bank, a community development bank.

6. Apparently there's some red tape involving credit unions
since Occupy Oakland's incorporation papers haven't gone through yet. That's why I suggested One PacificCoast Bank (formerly OneCalifornia Bank), also right downtown.

5. This sounds sick. I don't get it. I read nothing that provides justification.
If the money has to be deposited in a bank temporarily, there must be a small bank that doesn't have a dirty trail.

They're going to be a corporation, too? They sure as hell don't mind "the system" when it benefits them.

Hell, the money handling elite of the flea-bagger movement had to look no further than the $kimmer's blueprint at DU on how to dupe these rubes out of their pennies.

It's just like at DU, they are all tools of a capitalist, Skinner, meanwhile they preach how much they hate capitalism.

...Occupy Oakland's incorporation papers haven't gone through yet.
Goody! (http://www.conservativecave.com/Smileys/default/lmao.gif)
More names of officers with financial authority and responsibility. Of course there will be bonds, addresses, financial records. In the event of silly things like fraud, misappropriated funds, etc., there might even be corporate lia...er...lawyers.
I think there might be a really bad ending for all this stupidity in a couple of years......(http://members.socket.net/~mcruzan/avatars/toothless.gif)

Incorporation papers? Wells Fargo? Hey DUmmies, you've been sold a bill of goods. Hey, who's got the $750K in Zucotti Park? Where'd that go? Anybody know? OWS is a scam, and sexual harrassment is a hoax to boot.
-
So, who will get the debit card for that account? Or will they distribute 500 debit cards into to the crowd, and the first one to the nearest Kia dealership wins?
-
why bother with depositing the money anywhere. Just stash it under your sleeping bags in your tents. I'm sure the occupy oakland community is chock full of upright and law abiding citizens who would never consider taking it for themselves...

WF should withdraw the cost of replacing the windows from the $20,000 that was deposited.

You're damned right they should!
A side note just because: I stopped by the convenience store the other night, and there was a filthy, grubby-looking car in the parking lot. Inside were matching occupants. Someone had traced his finger in the car dirt, spelling out "STAN" with the A, the anarchy symbol. They looked like such losers. Yeah, Stan, you're an edgy, dangerous animal, you are. Stopping by the Nice&Easy for some Cheetos.

Apparently corporate personhood isn't completely bad after all.

I suspect that the incorporation is due to the fact that some attorney sidled up to their "general assembly", and advised them that if and when this whole thing goes south, and liability suits start flying for damages, the deep pockets of their trust funds are individually in peril......

No doubt, however I would not want to be one of the poor sumbitches whose names appears on that filing as corporate officers! Both the Prez and the Treasurer could easily end up doing time when the money all disappears, and even corporations aren't bullet-proof for personal liability if the anarchists show up to help out and the corporation appears to become just a vehicle for another type of criminal misconduct.

I wouldn't worry about malfeasance with all the money moonbats are getting from their parents and donating to a faceless bunch with no goals.
These hippie enterprises are as organized and honest as BlackBoxVoting.org, or the round red sodomite's charity a few years back.
That was the Golden Age of DUmpmonkey donations.

You're right about their raging incompetence and criminal tendencies, but nobody holds a grudge like a moonbat, not even a Welshman (Family experience, 'nuff said). When the rest of the moonbats figure out they've been ripped off, they will never let it go.

Ya know. They never got a permit. haven't yet incorporated. Did they think to get tax-exempt status?
Perhaps the IRS should audit the books...oh they don't have any? Well, we'll just have to confiscate all this cash. After all revolutions are not defined as charities.

:thatsright: What a cluster F this is going to turn out to be. Maybe they'll scream and holler, TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY!
