Title: The Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel serves shark fin. Not shark fin soup, but shar
Post by: Texacon on November 05, 2011, 02:28:04 PM
No, really, it's about saving the sharks NOT that I am well off enough to travel overseas.  Really (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x2239368#2239454)

Ok, the OP is really just a brag about being overseas but here it is;

The Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel serves shark fin. Not shark fin soup, but shark fin.

It's a featured item on its menu, along with the $420 caviar.

I feel like an undercover agent. We stayed there because the company gets a discount. The rest of the clientele seems to be the Asian equivalent of Euro-trash.

I doubt very much that the Hilton Corporation expects its American customers to find out it serves shark fin as a menu item in Asia. I really, really doubt they'd like to know what we think about it.

Let's tell them anyways.

Now for the reason I bring this over.  From the smartest people on the internet I bring you;

3. They serve dolphin on the menu in the Caribbean...

Remind me again what right the US has to determine what other people eat in other parts of the world...

Yo, idiot;

That is a dolphin also known as Dorado.  If you've ever eaten Mahi Mahi you have eaten dolphin.

Sounds fine. I'll have that and a side of the Baby Seal croquettes. The smoked Spotted Owl pâté looks good, too.

The hedgehog primitive was probably pissed that when he got to Seoul, he wasn't able to find a used pantie vending machine like they have in Japan, so he is taking out his frustrations on the cuisine.

hedgehog is a regular provider of drivel in the DUmp's 'Catholic' forum - every single P.C. issue and she's lined up behind it.

Yup--she's braggin.  I stayed at a hotel that has $420 caviar!

Newsflash, hon--so have I.  So have a lot of people.  Question is, did you ORDER it?

Frankly, I'm surprised more of our traveling DUmmies aren't more apoplectic about gastronomic choices in foreign lands.  Oh, they'd be having a conniption fit fer shur....

More food snobbery from the DUmp. Leftists to tell people where the boundaries are and then damn everyone that strays. Even their vaunted cultural tolerance takes a backseat to them looking down their noses at other people who don't conform.

Indeed it did, but it was also funny, and I laughed so hard I spit out my last bite of cereal, in my bowl of course.   :whatever:

And for the record, DUmmies, the fin is part of a dinner menu or can be ordered Ala Carte at W80,000, which comes out to about $70.  Compare that to the $55 they charge for an 8-oz filet, or $65 for a little piece of abalone.

IOW, typical hotel prices for shit.  And no, $250/night for Hilton chain in Asia isn't that expensive.  Try again.

See DUmmies?  I know how to Google-Fu too!

This whole thread was quite Greenbriar-esque.  How can I slip in that I did something expensive?  I know!  Cloak it in outrage!

How are you fishing for them? We pull in Dolphin all the time in the Gulf. Trolling to get the bulls and flatlining for chicken dolphin.

It's so ridiculous.  My wife and I ate beef tenderloin this weekend.  It's $27.99 a pound now at the store.  I feel no guilt, but I was a little sad as I took the last bite.  We eat filet a few times a month.  Good stuff.

We've only ever caught them trolling just on the deep side of the big drop-offs where it goes from 0 to 3000ft in a mile or so and the gutters between reefs next to the drop-off.  If you've got good google-fu, look up Ribbon #1 reef and Lena reef.

We use a lure locally known as a " Woghead (http://www.bransfords.com.au/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=50)" - which has a weighted nose , and a 3 gang hook that we put garfish on. These lures are excellent for all types of pelagics.
