There's no way anyone can read the DUmp and think it's anything other than envy.
It's not envy, we just want what they have (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x2240514#2240755)

It is NOT about wealth-envy!!!
It is about not letting them have exclusive control to the levers of power.
It's really all that simple.

1. If anything, it's exactly opposite... our horror at their spending, at our expense.
I just got an email from a $6K/month sister who called me every name in the book, told me I was mentally ill, then went on to make some really disparaging remarks.
I'm not going to answer with an email, I'm going to use a lawyer.
This must be serious, I hope you have access to Pitts Ninja lawyers.

2. Sue her for being an asshole?
That's a new one on me. What's a $6K / month sister?

More than I thing? Are you related to Nadin?

10. They committed fraud to gain $65. That's sixty five bucks.
Don't tell me I don't have a case.
$65? You're getting a lawyer over $65? :lmao:

4. This is true
They wish we envied them. That's why they "worked so hard." To be at the top. If that isn't acknowledged, what was the point?
Nope, no sign of envy there.

15. I'll assume that you secretly abhor them, as I do.
Anyone who "needs" more than $6K per month to survive is a parasite on all of us.
So now $72,000/year is outrageously wealthy? :loser:

19. Why would I envy a money-hoarder...
any more than I envy the old lady with the 137 cats, or the old fart who has 350 wrecked cars in his pasture?
Hoarding is an obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Couple of million...? ... 10 cats... No problem.
Couple of Billion.... ? .... 137 cats....Problem.
The county can... and does... limit the number of cats you can have beyond reasonable norms.
The government should limit the amount of money you have beyond reasonable norms.
And there's the winner!

20. Unfortunately, that sounds like 'socialism' or even 'communism' to most people.
I can't say I'd have a problem with certain features of your idea, though.
Say, any amount of money over a certain limit would need to be invested in creating a company (jobs) or in donations to a cause of your choice. Otherwise, it simply reverts to the government to do what it wants.
On the other hand, most people would never aspire to taking in more money than they need to avoid this limit and progress (from private enterprise) would grind to a halt and we would be left to the government to decide more than they do now.

"If anything, it's exactly opposite... our horror at their spending, at our expense."
Then why doesn't this DUmmy protest against the Obamas going on lavish, exorbitantly expensive vacations every couple months, also at our expense?
-
These types of posts make me wonder if the DUmmies really believe what they are saying, or if they are just being obstinate for the sake of it.

:o Thanks to your president,$6K a month doesn't go as far as it did say 3 years ago?

UGH UGH UGH...seriously feeling physically ill over the fact there are people in my country who truly believe this.

I see the Socialist's have come out of the woodwork. Funny, they seem to be just like the OWS supporters:

You are mentally ill, first of all. Second, you're going to sue your sister because she makes $6k per month? $6k a month isn't rich, dear. I can see why there are multiple occurrences of liberals at DU bitching because their families effectively disown them.
-
It is nothing but envy, they envy the rich so much that they want to destroy them so they become poor too.

Well, Old Don the Grouch pegged the number at $50K. He said that we could all live quite comfortably on $50k. Thanks, Don.
What a thread. "It's not about wealth envy!!!... "My $6K sister blah blah blah."

Oh bite me, mental midget. I live in Massachusetts - and not in a wealthy community either - and a decent apartment will run you $1200 a month. Thankfully, we bought this house in '98 and $1200 is sightly more than our mortgage. Needless to say, the remaining $4800 goes pretty quickly.
-And that's just here.
I'm certain that a more expensive neighborhood or state will consume 6K in three weeks or less.
Honestly, the missus & I make slightly under 100K a year before taxes, and with three kids it all goes quickly.

I saw that too and was wondering how exactly Wall Street is spending "their" tax dollars? The mental gymnastics are incredible to behold! :rotf:

Their righteous anger only goes as far as the perceived politics of the person/people they rail against. If the wealthy oppressor is one of their own, he/she gets a pass.

Those DUmmies would be pissed to know about the monthly incomes I see on a daily basis while processing loan documents for a big evil bank. :rotf:

I know, right!
We made over $50K last year and still owed the government money when we filed our taxes. That guy is a fool to think people can live comfortably on $50,000. Maybe if it's just two people with no kids who live well within their means. Which means a BUDGET, DUmmies. :)

Another thing I'll add to that- is that 50K, including all the benefits that you get from work, including 401K match, health care, ESOP or other ownership programs, unemployment insurance, etc?
If I add all these in to what my wife and I made last year, we are clearly in Don's 1%. ::)

Oh, but that is what these great unwashed idiots think. They think that people that earn abiver their specified anount will, against almost all human nature, continue to work just so others can live off of their work. What can't be true, won't be true.
