I just offered to open my apartment to the Occupation (eeek!)
I just sent this to Occupy Portland:
Hello Occupiers!
Health and money problems have prohibited me for participating/contributing much to the Occupation so far, but I've been trying to think of ways I could help.
I could most certainly handle some of the "grunt-work" email and DB/spreadsheet stuffs from home.
I would also be willing to bring 2 occupiers/day to my downtown studio (11th and Burnside, near Powell's) for a hot shower/load of laundry.
I live in subsidized housing, and the bathroom is "down the hall", but laundry is free. My lease limits me to two visitors/day. I would need some way to "vett" that the people I bring into my home were a functional part of the Occupation. They would need to supply their own soap/toiletries. And they would need to have picture ID.
My name is [deleted by freeper to be nice], I'm a former community organizer for Sisters Of The Road, 2-term board member of the Old Town/Chinatown Neighborhood Association, a member of PPEHRC (Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign) I am well versed in consensus process, and 100% in support of the Occupation.
If this could be helpful, please contact me.
This is a scary ****ing step for me, but it feels right. It's something that I can realistically do, right now.
And I've gotta do something!

He lives in government housing, and I find it interesting that he is asking for photo ID. What happens if the poor occupier can't afford to pay to get one, why should he or she be denied?

Hope they don't rape your cat.

Wait a minute! Did he/she/it say that they would need to show a picture ID? I thought requiring a picture ID was a terrible, terrible thing.

He lives in government housing
That explains it. He is not personally vested in his living quarters so that is why he is willing top open his house to strangers.

Only to vote. That's the only time having to show ID is a terrible, terrible, fascist, racist, bigoted, cruel, mean, repressive thing to do.

Haven't we all thought about opening our homes to rapists, thieves and vandals? What could go wrong? :hammer:

Happy Anniversary! (not!) Unemployed 1 year today...
I had worked 5 years for a small, radical non-profit that I loved, but because of a tanking budget, was one of 5 people laid off last year.
The year has been depressing, exhausting, and frustrating. It's the first time in my life I haven't been able to find work in a month or two if I put my mind to it. It has caused me to doubt my abilities, my value to society, and my future.
My "2nd-tier" UI extension runs out in 6 weeks, and it looks very doubtful there will be a 3rd extension. I'm ****ing terrified.
I'm no stranger to poverty, been "working poor" most of my life, and I've been homeless before, but damn, I am too old and sick to do it again.
I've begun picking up aluminium cans, and eating in soup kitchens a few times a week in an attempt to build up a tiny cushion.
I no longer consider giving the crazy lady on the corner my spare change, which ****ing breaks my heart, and makes me question my own humanity.
I'm a college-educated veteran who has believed in hard work and fair play my entire life, and it is very possible I'll be homeless by X-mas.
This is what 99% looks like.

Sounds like he might be trying to make a buck. Wait until he finds out they are all as broke as he is!

"I live in subsidized housing, and the bathroom is "down the hall", but laundry is free."
Yeah we are paying for that!
"I had worked 5 years for a small, radical non-profit that I loved"
What was that? Some shitbag outfit trying to undermine America? I hope they rob you, rape you and piss on your carpet!

What I want to know is why the primitive is following the two visitors a day rule - that sounds awfully fascistic to me - the government telling people how many guests they can entertain at once...
Break the rules !!!! Do it primitive !!!! Occupy Government Housing !!!11!!!!!
-
That's what I was thinking too, Miskie. Not only that, but that is what being a government dependent looks like. You are constantly under a bootheel of rules and regulations. You pay your own way, you make your own rules. I don't rely on the government, so I can have as many visitors as I want. I had over 200 trick or treaters. :-)
-
This poor dumb ****er must have a sign tattooed to his back that says, "Rob Me."
He probably does. It should match the one that says "stoopid" on his forehead.
The stupid shall be punished.
-
He's living in Section 8 housing... he probably doesn't have anything to steal. If they run off with his computer, we'll find out when he doesn't come back to the DUmp. :-)
Moron.

The home invasion in A Clockwork Orange comes to mind...

What. a. surprise.
Also notice he said that he is limited to 2 visitors per day.
Things like that is why us conservatives do not want the govt paying for everything, if they do they get to make the rules, and as a free person who doesn't get free housing I can have anyone I want to invite over come over.
-

Indeed.
Now, we haven't had a bigass houseparty since we had the kids (as in bigass drinkin' and hanging with friends party - there have been plenty of bigass family parties) - but as a homeowner I can do that - provided it doesn't leak out into the neighborhood and disturb others.
Two visitors a day limit..
And you know what ? Good on the government. You want taxpayers to fund your living accommodations, you get to play by the government's rules. Don't like it ? Find another way to live.

And they would need to have picture ID.

...and if you're cute enough, a little free sex will help offset the expenses. (http://www.conservativecave.com/Smileys/default/naughty.gif)...but be careful of my bad back...(http://www.conservativecave.com/Smileys/default/rotf.gif)

HEY!!!! Why in the hell is his name deleted? He made it public, so it is fair game. I'm not nice when it comes to the radical left.
-
How's a girl in government housing expected to make a living if she's limited to servicing 2 clients a day?

There should be OccupyWatershipDown or OccupyRabbitWarrens. :fuelfire:

Not for the woman!
True.

Is this guy still alive? Anyway, if he really believed in hard work he would start his own radical non-profit and leach off the public in a respectable way.

Not for the woman!
Reverse cowgirl.

So you've invited the hippies to crash at your fleabag flophouse, hoping to roll them for a few bucks and some dope.
Your doubts, DUmmy Rabblevox, are facts. You have no abilities, no value to society, and no future.
End it now, before it gets worse.

I was kind of getting the Arsenic and Old Lace vibe too.

2. You might want to reconsider posting your name here.
Just a word to the wise.
Good gesture on your part BTW.

6. And your address. I've seen web sites concentrating upon DU and consider such fair game.

33. Why be shy?
Well, frankly, because some of those running anti-DU sites and their membership are scary people.
I say that having been stalked by them, had them find the contact information of friends and family and harass them. Had them file anonymous complaints with my employer (the best one was the one that called up and said I'd yelled "**** You" at her...because nobody else would have noticed that in the bank...and I was on vacation and nowhere near DC at the time.) I'd not put actual physical violence past some few of them...but it only takes one violent idiot.
I'm not the only one who has had this experience with anti-DU stalking.
You should not post this information because it endangering to not merely yourself but your friends, family and neighbors and how you feel about that is irrelevant to the maximum measure. I feel strongly enough about this that I've urged on more than one occasion to admins that this sort of naivety get the auto-delete regardless of the feelings of the poster.
We're scary people. :panic: :lmao:

When I made the thread, I decided to be nice and not post his name on this site.

You'd think they would like the attention. I'm sure it's prolly the only time anyone has paid them any mind for most of their usless life!

So, after inviting the deadbeats into his flophouse (limit 2 visitors per day, communal bathroom) and being the DUmp's most vocal pro-hippie voice, he gets his ass tombstoned. Just when the Omaha Weeper was planning a Portland holiday.
