Milk Street Cafe Owner Sacks 21 Employees As Consequence Of Occupy Wall Street Demonstration
In June, Mark Epstein opened the New York branch of the Boston shop Milk Street Cafe, which has a 30 year history. Epstein says he leased the space on Wall Street because it was next to a pedestrian plaza – and his was the only restaurant along that plaza.
“The opening was perfect,†Epstein told CBSNewYork.com. “The food was delicious, the customers were happy, and the line was out the door.â€
“Everything was going in the right direction. Sales continued to grow. We started to build our catering business. Costs were going down. I felt that by October or November we would break even.â€
Then the Occupy Wall Street movement launched.
“I came one Monday morning and I found the exit by the 2 or 3 subway station closed. I saw all these barriers – barricades – all up and down my street,†Epstein said. “At first I thought nothing of it, but after a week… it’s been six or seven weeks now.â€

Bloomberg -- just another Least-Coast RINO. :loser:
-
Yet another casualty of obamanomics.

I hope he handed out pink slips in a envelope with a letter explaining why the OWS protest caused the layoff

If they haven't figured out why, they do now.
Managers love to have meetings. Besides, there's not much else to do besides talk when business is slow.

Scoobie and I are going to NYC on Thanksgiving weekend for a quick getaway.
Might be worth going down by Zuccotti Park (upwind side, of course) and seeing what level of douchebaggery is to be seen.

I'm a manager and I HATE meetings. Most of 'em are enormous time-wasters.

How NYC tolerates Bloomberg is beyond me. He sniffs around your transfats, your salt, and your smokes but he can't manage this situation? What in the hell would he do if had another 9/11?
-
Must be a restaurant thing. Most of the kitchen managers I've had were working and not hiding in the office so they had time to talk with employees.
-
The owner really ought to sue the living shit out of Brookfield Properties for creating the public nuisance that shut him down.

Not a manager, but second your opinion.

The DUmp's take on this?
1) It's the police barricades' fault. Tear down the barricades!
2) It's the fault of CBS's misleading headline!

I read about this online at work last night. The article I read, said the restaurant is in a Trump owned building, and Trump is p'd because he said the restaurant was a good one and it wasn't fair to the restauranteur or to the other businesses in the building who were also losing business because of OWS.
