We are in the process of redoing our backyard. We have had a new fence built and my husband took apart the whole pond and is in the process of redoing it. We had an arbor built and next monday they will come out and redo our deck. We also have a driveway full of flagstone and other rock to put around the pond and the planting beds. Please excuse the mess, it's kind of embarrassing.
This is the beginning of it all. The neighbors dog is in the picture. In the first two pictures they are in the process of putting up our new fence and my husband is in the process of destroying our pond.

Here they have marked off the arbor but you can see the finished fence. The chairs are sitting around the pool because we needed them off the deck. :p

Here is the new arbor. We had a hard time figuring out how to do it. We have windows that the arbor would have cut right across. I was worried about how it would look from the inside of the house but it worked out just fine.

Uh, question, from one who has lived only the rural life and the urban life, never the suburban life.
Don't chairs BELONG around the pool?

There are chairs. Look again at the photo with the blow-up slide in the pool.

Wow, just beautiful! A REAL pool...what a concept. We have a farm pond and a creek. When we lived in the suburbs the closest we ever came to a pool was a slip n slide. Granted in Oregon we don't necessarily need a pool, but with global warming fast approaching, I figure in a few years we'll be just like Hawaii.

Oh, and my condolences to your hubby. Better him than me. I'm looking at sealing the driveway in the next week or two.

i envy you BEG! we had planned to start our backyard stuff this year but our older kiddo is about to get engaged, so, its put off for a while i think.
but the arbor looks awesome! i want a three sided, stone covered patio that we can use all year here in misty seattle.. and an outdoor kitchen. and to put the hot tub in the ground.
yeah, i'm not picky much :-)

When we take apart a pond, we just take a backhoe or some dynamite and bust the dam. :-)
What kind of fish are you gonna stock your pond with? Personally, I prefer largemouth bass.

It looks like the typical backyard of capitalist swines....and I am so damn jealous!

Largemouth bass, LOL. Koi is what we plan on putting in the pond. When my husband took the pond apart he dug down to a little over three feet because Koi like it deeper than goldfish do. We had goldfish in the pond before. The only one we have left is a super fish, he has a broken tail which looks really funky (thanks to a Heron that attacked the poor fish) and has lived through several fertilizer poisonings and one overfill of the pond when all the other fish have died.

What kind of lure do you use to catch them there Koi? Beetlespin, critterbait?
Seriously, it looks nice.
