Too bad, so sad the druggie got injured. He has NO RIGHT to say he even was a Marine. It's like the article I read the other day where gang members have enlisted into the Marine Corp, the Army and the Navy in exchange for not going to prison. These guys are a disgrace to the uniform and this practice should not be allowed.

Somehow I don't think he has much reason to be scared of Marines doing anything to him, now those of you at DU who say that they should shoot their officers probably should steer clear of them.

Yep, and they are probably police officers. Statisics show that honorable discharged Marines more likely choose to and become police officers than any other occupation.

I'm happy the DUmbasses have developed a newly found respect for veterans, especially considering it was only a couple of years ago they were declared to be "unable to find a job anywhere else, brainwashed robots, babykillers, sadists, torturers, psychopaths, bullies looking to turn their videogame-inspired bloodlust loose on the poor innocent little brow-skinned people of the Middle East", and so on.

That said, there's nothing to guarantee that a veteran cannot be an asshole. The only thing we took issue with, DUmmies, is your proclaiming them as assholes simply by virtue of the fact of their being a veteran. Veterans are not above reproach for the rest of their lives. They are not granted carte blanche to do or say anything without question. Most go on to lead productive and honorable lives, but a few turn out to be real scumbags who for some reason left the lessons of the service behind them. Some go as far as to throw in their lot with traitorous, America-hating shitheels like yourselves. There are always aberrations in any group.
What's worse, though, are the cynical bottom feeders like yourselves who wouldn't dream of serving their country in the military, who use the term military as an epithet and see themselves as morally above such an endeavor, using a person's veteran status for your own selfish agenda. You wrap yourself in the cloak of "respect our veterans" when in any other situation you wouldn't give them the time of day. You're not fooling anyone with your sudden reverence for America's troops. They're just pawns to you like any other identity group.

Scott Olsen is the Marine Corps veteran who was critically injured at Occupy Oakland Tuesday night, during a confrontation between the protesters and the police. The latest news is good: his condition has been upgraded from critical to fair and he is apparently conscious and able to respond to doctors and family members. I sincerely wish him a full recovery, and I also hope that a proper investigation is conducted to determine whether police misconduct was responsible for his injuries.
But I ran across something this evening that may add a new dimension to this story. It has been widely reported that Olsen is a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. But apparently his opposition to the U.S. military and the Marine Corps in which he served runs a little deeper.

Thank you for what you said. One thing that punk should have learned is if you **** up, you pay up and that what happened. Don't stand around and snivel about it ,deal with it. We lost alot of people in the 101st from using drugs and I'm betting that if that punk wasn'rt kicked ou for that it was something else. All they would get is a general discharge that could be upgraded later to an Honorable. To me that doesn't make what they did any less so.
