Why are primitives in blue states complaining about taxes?

I mean, what did the primitives expect, when electing Democrats and liberals?

Do you think I should pay a TAX on a Big Mac???

Can a Big Mac tax save New Jersey hospitals?

New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine said Tuesday he's open to using a "sin tax" to help provide funding for struggling hospitals.

His comments came after Amy Mansue, of Children's Specialized Hospital, suggested a fast food tax during a meeting between Corzine and hospital leaders on proposed state hospital and health care aid cuts.

I notice through all this crap

yanno

tax cigarettes

tax fast food

hey!! Hello!!

god forbid they tax their alcohol any more than they have to

this sucks

I haven't bought fast food in 2 years

but I don't think it should be taxed......

tax your wine sherry, beer

just my opinion

2. I'm not crazy about the idea BUT

poor diet lands a lot of people in the hospital so I guess it's at least poetic and appropriate.

8. I understand this

but sometimes this is all anyone can afford

with the dollar menus and all

not to mention being on the run to keep up so we can afford to live

a vicious cycle

25. no, I get what you're saying and as someone who has been there

am quite sympathetic as well to the monetary issue.

3. Corzine is really struggling to find some money...

...there already are cigarette and alcohol taxes.

Fast Food - wow. I don't eat it and haven't for years and years so I wouldn't be affected at all. There is a McDonalds around the corner and the drive-thru actually blocks traffic at certain times of the day so I'm sure it would a money-maker for the state.

I have no idea how I feel about this.

14. I bought a pack of cigs in December...

...walked in the store and asked for the cheapest pack: $7.50!!!!

I was shocked - talked to the guy for 10 minutes about the prices. When I smoked $3.00 a pack was a lot.

6. That's one of those "latte liberal" ideas--taking small pleasures away from the common man...

I can't see it passing. If they're going to do that, well, tax the shit out of a steak dinner, a salad, and rolls--same damn ingredients, just that the steak dinner has better (and more) meat, and less soy filler and fatty binders.

Perfect storm to get the working class Dems AND the "don't regulate me" right to join hands. Just because some idiot PROPOSES it, doesn't mean it is law.

Cigarette taxes go over 'ok.' Fast food taxes, though? That's a bit too much.

13. Do not count on it!!!!

Did you know that AC Casinos are going TOTALLY smoke free!!!???

That passed but I GUARANTEE it will not last

to much money will be lost

to much "other" revenue....

wait

Corzine is rich and people kiss his ass

I wondered who the Republican governor of New Jersey is.

15. Smoking isn't as popular as it used to be. Once upon a time, most adults smoked.

Not the case anymore.

16. Question

where are they going to get the money that they tax cigarettes with? when no one buys them here anymore??

Have you or anyone else thought about that...

they are taxed ALOT

so you will be taxed ALOT on something you buy

and whine about it

just saying its a pattern...

hold on that carrot your eating might cost $2 each

remember for the want of a nail the war was lost

21. They'll move on to gambling, and when that plays out, they'll legalize pot and tax the crap out of it.

Well, given the excess windfall profits of the marijuana industry, why not?

1981 = bag of marijuana, $10.  2008 = same bag of marijuana, $160.

22. Well, not lately. But I have been down in PR and Bahamas...

And not that many people were smoking.

Wow.

In this Bush economy, the worst economy since Ankor Wat was constructed, a primitive can afford a luxury vacation to Puerto Rico and the Bahamas?  What's up with that?

7. Hey Gorn

I say tax just the republicans, you have to show your ID, and if you are registered Republican
you get taxed .........

Well, some of us think that's generally what happens anyway.

Republicans and conservatives earn money; Democrats, liberals, and primitives spend money.

17. Mom's trips to the shore will never be the same

they always, always stop at the Cheesequake service area on the Garden State. For one thing, that's as far as she can go from the city without taking a leak (we joke that her initials PPF stand for "Pam Pees Frequently"!). But then, there's the obligatory fast food stop, though she's often satisfied with the Starbucks there.

Tax Mom's Cheesequake stops? Think of the children moms!!

24. Why is it ok to tax cigarettes, wine and beer but not fast food?

You know, this is the first time I've gone through a whole bonfire involving the lost primitive.

What with the subway cat being temporarily housed in one of those rooms with soft walls, one supposes the lost primitive is her stand-in, her substitute.

Wow, someone actually got it right.  No doubt they're repeating what they heard on conservative radio, Fox News, or they're a mole because there's no way a lib would ever view any tax as being a bad idea.

Corzine must be missing the money he made at Goldman Sachs, wouldn't you think?

That's where he might wind up if this goes through.
