I go to a Pain Management Clinic today. My orthopedic dr has referred me. PT has helped some but it's not stopping the daily pain. I was reading the "contract" that I have to sign and it says that I will be required to pee in a cup before each and every rx. I am really hoping to get a nerve block because I have heard some good things about those and no daily meds are needed.
Anything I need to know before my appt at 2pm?

Hope you get some relief. I have had good luck with my Physiatrist and his staff who have used a number of different techniques. I am not a fan of shots but I will say trigger point shots work, ditto cortisone. And do any exercises you get from PT. :argh:

:panic: I knew it!!!
I have printed out all of my rx's from 10/09 to present just so they don't think I am a OWS type person. :lmao:
I just want to be pain free. The percocets work.....I know that sounds bad but they do work for me. I take 1.5 a day (1 in the morning and 1/2 in the afternoon before I go home) I haven't had any since the end of September and have been in excrutiating pain daily. Really puts Gina in a bad bad mood
Do I outright tell this dr what has worked? Will that look like I am seeking drugs?

No, not at all. You're just being honest.
The problem with opiate-based drugs is their tendency toward addiction. It's up to him to find a drug that is effective, but non-narcotic, over the long term. Percocet's really only indicated for short-term pain relief.
That's why they pay him the big bucks - to come up with an alternative medication.
Of course, if you REALLY want a definitive answer on pain meds, don't ask a doctor. Ask a pharmacist.

For a minute there I thought you in-laws were liberal and you were having them put to sleep.

See if you can score me some meds for my cramps! I will PM you my mail address. If they say no just tell them that you are allergic to tylenol, motrin, asprin, naxopren... Tell them that your other doctors ALWAYS give you 100 doses of vicodin! :lmao:
-
I've never been to a pain management clinic. I hope it works for you, though & will include you in my prayers.

I'm gonna guess this is to weed out the druggies.......apparently there are now more junkies abusing prescription meds than street drugs.
Shortly after you began posting about your back issues, mine redeveloped after a four-year absence. I went to my GP for orders for a new MRI (my old one was six years old), and then went to the same miracle worker at the pain management clinic that helped me before.
He gave me one epidural, and just like before, I was pain free in minutes. I asked him on all types of back issues, what percentage receive relief from this procedure (thinking of you)......his answer 80%.
Good luck!

Around here, we didn't have this problem until the state started handing out "medical care" to everyone that came along and asked for it. We had a Democrat governor that was gung-ho for Hillarycare at the time. Next thing you know, all these 'sick' people are turning around and selling their prescriptions for cash and whatever else they could get for them.

Well my :stoner: test came back negative, but I knew that would happen. I am clean as a whistle :hyper:
So my next thing is a nerve block next Thursday at 12:30pm.
No meds until I have some type of psychological test to see if I am addictive. I know I am addictive :naughty:
Anyway, back is hurting but I can hold off for some miracle hopefully!
Thanks for listening

I hope they can help. I've seen really good results from nerve blocks. I'm really glad you found a place that offers some hope. Pain sucks.
-
so if they can fix my lower back, I am hoping they can fix my upper back where the muscle runs along the top of my shoulders. That is always tingling and burning.
-
I don't know how they can't just fix pain at this point. They can build robots out of germs and a dog hair why not make a way to keep your back pain free?
-
Hey, I just thought of a way to keep people from thinking my house is so gross! I will just tell them I am building gajillions of tiny robots out of germs and dog hair!!!!

Liquid Vitamin D cured my sciatica and helps w/. pain management. I only take ONE 5/500 Vicodin at night now. The rest of the day is tolerable.
-
To be honest, I could probably do without the Vicodin, too. It DOES help me sleep, mostly.

20,000 IUs of Liquid D3 once per day. Vitamin D also possesses a myriad of other benefits such as fighting cancer, depression, etc.
