Poll question: Employed or not
There have been a few polls about the demographic of DUers. We are mostly between the ages of 30 and 65. We are self-identified lefties. We are evenly divided on the death penalty and guns.
What is the DU employment profile?
Poll result (48 votes)
Executive Officer (0 votes, 0%) Vote
Self Employed (6 votes, 13%) Vote
Salaried/permanent employee (23 votes, 48%) Vote
Casual/Part time employee (5 votes, 10%) Vote
Unemployed (9 votes, 19%) Vote
Pension (5 votes, 10%)

61% claim to be (self-)employed
That means 39% un/under-employed or retired
Would DUmbasses be more likely to claim unemployment for street cred or claim employment to as not to look like the slackers they are?

Remember, DUmmies lie; all the time, DUmmies lie.

Of course, none of them are in upper-level management or big businessmen.
"Self-employed" would include those self-employed in selling drugs, and so that's probably close to accurate.
"Salaried/permanent employee"--no way it's nearly half of them.
"Casual/Part-time employee"--a very murky area; many of those are probably working illicitly under the table to augment welfare and social-security disability benefits.
"Unemployed"--it's got to be a lot more than 19%, given that that's almost the unemployment rate of decent and civilized people in this 0bamaconomy, and of course the primitives have fewer skills, and less of a sense of responsibility, than decent and civilized people.
"Pension"--if that applies to only retirement pensions, it's probably understated.
Now, there's one category missing here, that of "riding first-class on the social security disability gravy train," which is surely at least a third of Skins's island.

It could be accurate, if you consider welfare as a permanent career choice where the only job duty is voting democrat.
-
It looks like they're lumping hourly employees in with "permanent" because I don't see a spot for it otherwise.
-
In line with what Frank said, relying on their own characterizations of their status is totally fruitless. Are the rummage sale pillager and the cut-and-paste 'Cartoonist' self-employed, under-employed, or permanent employees as they see it from their own warped points of view?
-
"Salaried/permanent employee" = government worker so it is semi-believable.

I was about to comment that running one's own business is essentially the opposite of DUmmy-hood, but seeing your explanation I have to concede your point
I do think that the two options above could be collapsed into a single "quiet undeclared earnings alongside scrounging off the tax-payers".
