Got an older relative in a "red state"? a student? Stumped for a Christmas gift?

make sure they have a valid ID so they can vote.. If they do not, get them one.. Send for that birth certificate/marriage license for them (if they cannot find it) or better yet, chip in with other family members and get them a passport.

Granny/Gramps/Aunt/Uncle/etc probably does not need another sweater, robe, pair of slippers,DVD player/duvet-set/whatever...but they might appreciate having the ID they may need to keep on voting.

There are those who rankle at the idea of having to HAVE "special" ID, but if the runaway republican legislature says they have to have it, why not just get it for them sooner, and worry about the dem leadership lawsuits...later.

The worst-case scenario is that they have a passport they may never travel with, or they have a state photo ID that they only need for voting, but it;s always better to have it and not need it, than to be hassled on election day and then be denied/.

I have no doubt that if people do get IDs, the republicans will just hatch a new scheme to try & suppress voting, but IF we happen to start getting more voters' votes counted, who knows?.....maybe we'd end up with more dems in office/...dems who could unravel some of these ridiculous laws or at least grandfather in people who have a record of having voted for years.

Blah blah blah. What a dipshit.

What is this bitch babbling about?

She acts like no one is a registered voter and it would be really really really really hard to register.  I did my one-time registration at the DMV after we moved to Las Vegas.  It took a minute or less to fill out the form.  My voter registration was mailed to me a week later.

Is that what the rant is about?  I couldn't even really tell.

all you need to vote in So Cal is a pulse and a few active brain waves.  A few years ago when I offered my driver's license to the poll worker, I was told to put it away and that they could not ask for any form of ID.

I had that happen in 2010 during the mid-term elections.  I had my ID out and ready and they told me, "No, we don't need that."

. . . and what if the elderly relative isn't a moonbat, and uses the new registration to vote Republican???

And in some places, you don't even need the brain waves.  Hell, here they allow for same-day registration with "proof" consisting of two pieces of mail addressed to you.

I'd love to see all the elderly people register as democrats, but vote republican on all tickets.

She might be talking about Wisconsin, except I wouldn't call Wisconsin a red state...yet.  The democrats are making a big deal out of the new voter ID requirement here.  Especially since some DMV offices in rural areas aren't open every day of the week and some old folks can't drive themselves to the DMV office and old people are on fixed incomes and can't afford the cost of the process one must go through to get an authorized ID and you get the picture--it all adds up to republican vote suppression.   For all of the time, money, and effort that democrats have spent fighting the voter ID law it would've been far cheaper for them to send limos out to pick up each individual without an ID and personally haul them down to the local DMV and cover the cost plus take them out to lunch afterwards.  All anyone who lacks a suitable ID would have to do is call the local office of their political party of choice, explain their plight and someone would surely squire them through the process.  The democrats are so transparently trying to perpetuate their system of vote fraud.

Why go to all that trouble? Every election just take all the names of the old folks and count them as votes for the democrats.

That probably happens a lot in blue areas.

It's time to stop.

If the DUmmies have elderly relatives who don't have photo ID, then what sort of crappy relatives are they?  Why should it come down to this?   Do the relatives never write checks or pay with credit card?

WI budgeted money to provide free IDs to those that ask for one so they can vote. They just need to get to the DMV.

Amazing how they make that claim yet seniors are more likely to vote Republican.  I'm wondering if they'll be able to wrap their heads around that one.

Not a chance, Sparks.
Remember how they went ballistic over Lech Walensa?
Then discovered he was a *gasp* capitalist?
Besides, they've been registering seniors for decades.
Regardless of the century they were born in.

Hell, they've been "helping" the seniors in nursing homes to vote the right way for years.
