SIRTE, Libya | Thu Oct 20, 2011 8:52am EDT
SIRTE, Libya (Reuters) - Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi died of wounds suffered on Thursday as fighters battling to complete an eight-month-old uprising against his rule overran his hometown Sirte, Libya's interim rulers said.
His killing, which came swiftly after his capture near Sirte, is the most dramatic single development in the Arab Spring revolts that have unseated rulers in Egypt and Tunisia and threatened the grip on power of the leaders of Syria and Yemen.
"He (Gaddafi) was also hit in his head," National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid Mlegta told Reuters. "There was a lot of firing against his group and he died."
Mlegta told Reuters earlier that Gaddafi, who was in his late 60s, was captured and wounded in both legs at dawn on Thursday as he tried to flee in a convoy which NATO warplanes attacked. He said he had been taken away by an ambulance.

He's no loss, but the price of this overreaching cluster**** is that it'll be a cold day in Hell before the the UN authorizes NATO to use force 'To protect innocent civilians and enforce a no-fly zone' again.

Hmmm.
And how long did it take the UN/NATO to deal with Qaddafi? Wiki says 247 days.
It's a good damned thing that UN/NATO is only dealing with a two-bit hustler like Gaddafi, rather than somebody REALLY powerful like Mullah Omar. :whatever:

Yeah, I used the word 'Cluster****' for good reason.
The UN originally bought into this just to protect civilians from the same shit that's been happening unimpeded in Syria for months, mainly by keeping Moe's air force on the ground and providing humanitarian relief. Then the US, French, Brits, and Italians bootstrapped it into an all-out air war against the regime which killed a shit-load more people than were ever at risk when the whole thing came up in the UN originally. A month or so into it, the Arab League countries who had asked for interventioin were having huge buyer's remorse over what had been sold to them vs. what was actually delivered, but with the use of force authorization in hand, the four main powers behind it weren't going to rein it in.
I can't say I see the whole thing as net positive, the old f***er was going to cash his chips in not all that far into the future anyway, and we're extremely likely to see a humbled secular dictatorship replaced with an aggressively-militant Islamist theocracy.

Ah-yup. Qaddafi had been pretty well contained since those F-111's dropped little prezzies on him and his buddies back in '85, but he got a little uppity after the events in Yemen, Tunisia, Egpyt and other garden spots revealed some discontented folks in his own back yard.
It took 'em awhile, but getting pissed over having those little prezzies dropped on their asses finally happened.
It's good to see that Qaddafi bleeds just as much as his own people do.
But yeah, militant islamo-fascists are bound to step into that vacuum, especially now that Qaddafi's demise appears to be official.

You are right....and when the muslims have complete control of all the Islamic coutries.....the BIG war starts.... It will truly be a world war for ALL the world.

Yeah, I'm not sure this is all that great, either. I think the media here portrays the "Arab Spring" as a democratic movement, but I think most people realize this is an Islamic movement pushing sharia law. Look at the clashes in Egypt with Christians being killed in their new "democracy". I hate to say it, but as others have pointed out, there will be another Arab Israeli war soon, and Obama has helped the anti-Israelis along.

And we will be drug into it.
I think we should issue side arms to all the officers in the military that are not Muslims and require them carry them loaded at all times. Same goes for all NCO's while in uniform on an American base with additional long weapons. The grunts on base should have quick and ready access to long weapons and ammunition at all times while on base. The muzzies have already infiltrated behind our lines (they're here in the U.S.) and we're still letting them in by the boat load.
When it starts it's going to be a slaughter. Lets make sure the slaughter is over there, not over here.
How would WW2 have turned out for us if we had had a few million Nazi's and imperial Japs willing to blow themselves up running loose in this country.

Just as I sometimes will have cold pizza for breakfast -- the name of the meal isn't important. I just wanted to make sure you weren't choking on your food. I can conjure up a mental image of someone performing a Heimlich manuever on you and who knows? It just might be done.
Mutton - nasty smelling meat. Do you cover up the smell with mint? Just curious.....

^5 Razzy, you nailed it right on the head. Christians are being slaughtered in the streets in Egypt, Libya, Syria, anywhere their tiny enclaves still exist in the middle east. Let's not forget Iraq either, it's been going on there for the past several years as well but you'd have to really dig to find any coverage of it.
The entire mid east is being taken wholesale back a thousand years.

Yup, that's him alright.
http://www.apacheclips.com/media/36284/short_clip_Gaddafi_still_alive_after_capture/
Definitely not "found dead" as reported elsewhere. They took him alive. I'm actually surprised he was dispatched as quickly as he was, could have been a whole lot worse for him if the rebels wanted to play with him the way my cat will torment a mouse for hours before he finally bites his head off.
Can't wait for the outcry from the Libtards that he was cheated out of a fair trial.

Well hes not pining he's passed on, bereft of life.he's stone dead.

Mutton and lamb, the meat that Jesus ate, I hope you don't have a problem with that.
BTW, cook mutton properly and the smell is Delicious.

He did nothing of the sort. He happened to be on the golf course when all that went down. Remember?

How do you know that Jesus ate meat? Were you there? Maybe he was a vegan. Or couldn't stand mutton, regardless how it was prepared.

I wouldn't bet against that being Obama Hussein's plan all along. Raised in madrases and then he chose Wright to be his pastor for 20 years.

Wasn't Bubba the rapist also on the golf course and couldn't be disturbed when OBL was offered over to us on a silver platter back in the 90's?

I noticed that other dude squatting handcuffed wearing the striped shirt in the back of the pick up truck looks wee tad nervous. One of Moo-mar's sons maybe? Odds of him still being above room temperature now are probably slim to zilch.

I'm amazed at the liberals who are shocked or surprised that Gaddafi was executed. It shows that they really don't understand arab culture at all. And the fact that the President of the United States has the gall to stand up in front of the nation and announce that we're ushering in "freedom" to Lybia is disgusting. He knows damn well we just ushered in sharia law and an almost certain death sentence to non-muslims in those countries. Egypt is a fine example of the arab version of "democracy" - complete with a renewed oppression of non-muslims.
Obama seems to think that the American people will support him in this because we're helping other human beings to have what we have - freedom. This just isn't the case at all. We spent $1 billion taking out Gaddafi and the people that take over Lybia will still hate the US, perhaps even more than they do now. They will not thank us for the aid, they will simply see our weakness and demand more aid while still hating us and perhaps even sponsoring more terrorism. Obama seems to have already committed to throwing more money at Lybia.
The head of Lybia's National Transitional Council on Monday night delivered his first public speech in central Tripoli. Speaking to thousands of supporters in Martyr's Square, Mustafa Abdul-Jalil said Lybia would adopt sharia law.
LINK (http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/africa/110913/libya-tripoli-mustafa-abdel-jalil-amnesty)
Unlike US or other western law, sharia law is not implemented with freedom or equality in mind.
The same is occurring in Egypt:
In the current turmoil in Egypt, one of the oldest and biggest opposition parties, the Muslim Brotherhood, has kept a low profile.
Banned in the past, it is now keen to play a greater political role in a post-Mubarak Egypt.
HARDtalk's Zeinab Badawi speaks to Kamal El-Helbawy, a member and former spokesman of the Muslim Brotherhood, about whether the party will attempt to implement Islamic law in Egypt.
Watch the interview (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/hardtalk/9384094.stm) to see that Kamal says that indeed, that is their goal.
I'm hard pressed to think that this is a good thing for the US or for Christians and Jews in the mid-east. It seems the mid-east is regressing 1,200 years or so.

Yeah. A lot of alleged intellectuals are on the MSM talking about the Arab/Muslim desire for pluralist societies, but to the Muslims that actually live in that corner of the world, all 'Pluralism' means at the most is Sunnis. Shi'its, and Sufis getting along together, and women being allowed to vote as long as they vote the way their husbands or fathers tell them to.
The handful of intellectuals exposed to Western ideas of democracy and tolerance who actually believe in some of those values are the people these professors and authors are talking about, but they will be dealt out of any nascent power structure faster than a guy without the entry fee at a poker tournament.

Qaddafi Reportedly Died of Wounds Sustained Before Capture
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/10/26/qaddafi-reportedly-died-wounds-sustained-before-capture/
Libyan Deputy U.N. Ambassador Ibrahim Dabbashi says ousted leader Muammar Qaddafi was not killed by a Libyan government soldier, according to Reuters.
Dabbashi told the U.N. Security council Wednesday that Qaddafi died from wounds sustained before he was captured by Libyan fighters.
A Misrata military council official said Muammar Qaddafi, his son Muatassim and a top aide were buried at dawn Tuesday in a secret location, with a few relatives and officials in attendance.
snip
Over the weekend, Libya's chief pathologist, Dr. Othman el-Zentani performed autopsies on the three bodies and also took DNA samples to confirm their identities. El-Zentani has said Qaddafi died from a shot to the head, and said the full report would be released later this week, after he presents his findings to the attorney general.
The U.N. says one thing and Libya's chief pathologist says the truth.
