Poll question: In your opinion, is it harder to buy ammo or Sudafed?

Step 1 - Show license or state id to clerk
Step 2 - That information is recorded
Step 3 - Check a box agreeing to a lot of small print basically saying you won't do anything illegal with your purchase
Step 4 - Electronically sign
Step 5 - Oh, yeah -- I've got to pay for this
Step 6 - Swipe card
Step 7 - Enter PIN or sign again
Poll result (20 votes)
Ammunition    (0 votes, 0%)   Vote
Sudafed    (17 votes, 85%)   Vote
I don't buy ammo, but it's a flaming pain to buy Sudafed    (3 votes, 15%)   Vote

and, it's silly to have to show ID to purchase Sudafed. I'll suffer without.

eta: I say this as I blow my nose... yikes!

One hopes you'll have the same attitude if you happen to live in a state that has a voter ID law.

3. Sudafed

In South Dakota and Minnesota, you just had to be over age 18.

In Connecticut, I have to bug the pharmacist, and my ID gets scanned, when I buy Sudafed. Oh, and on my receipt it tells me how close I am to my maximum allowable purchase amount of Sudafed.

Buying ammo... shit, I don't remember how it is here. I haven't bought any in quite a while.

Good, and let's hope you keep doped up enough on Sudafed that you keep it that way.

4. Sudafed's about like buying a gun. nt

About?  About?  You fool.  When is the last time you bought a gun?  I'm sure the answer is never, so let me give you a clue:

The last time I bought Sudafed, I didn't have to fill out at least four pages of forms, show proof of attending a state mandated 8-hour safety course, and then stand around for 45 minutes while the sale is called into to an agent of the government for approval.

Why is my other fellow Nebraskan buying Sudafed to begin with?

Knowing the DUmmies affinity for drugs, he probably has the type of cold only crystal meth can cure.

I bought Sudafed just the other day, I just walked up to the counter and paid, no fancy hoops required.

Well, I don't mean to cast any aspersions upon my other fellow Nebraskan, but when Nebraska made it more difficult to purchase ingredients for methamphetamines, the state and the medical community went out of its way to widely and broadly broadcast all the hundreds of sorts of alternatives to Sudafed.

As you know, sir, drugs, licit and illicit, aren't my thing, and so I pay little or no attention, but this particular issue caught my eye long enough for me to learn that the alternatives are rather, uh, numerous.
