Occupy Wall Street + Tea Party = Game Over
Take everything that OWS stands for and add that to what the Tea Party "could have stood for" and the rigged corporate/government game would be over. If the Tea Party would focus their anger not on "government" but on those in power, then their cause could gain traction with us on the left. There are so many corrupt politicians that have been bought and paid for by big money that ordinary Americans are getting shafted. OWS going after corporate greed needs to spread its wings and expand into corporations buying government.
Harmonic convergence.
To cap it off, corporate media needs to keep these two sides apart and confuse the story lines. Watch the way they are portraying OWS "protestors"
Don't let the media get away with demonizing OWS. I may be off base, but I think if the two groups get together on what joins them, it could get interesting.

The Tea Party and OWS joining up would be like Hitler and Netanyahu playing golf together.
The Tea Party wants nothing to do with a group of people who occupy a public place and turn it into a sewer.
The Tea Party also wants nothing to do with communism either.

1. One requirement
No blind adherence to ideology. If they're required to prove their arguments using actual evidence, maybe. The fundamental problem I've seen with tea party types is that they can't take the least bit of criticism. If you commit the mortal sin of introducing facts and simple logic into the discussion, they pick up their ball and go home.

So screaming that we are racists, bigots, and so forth is facts and simple logic?

2. They are driven entirely by emotion
and looking for someone to tell them where to direct it.
Yes, as opposed to the more stoic viewpoint of "Me first!" and "Gimme!".

Someone here said something like, The Tea Party and OWS do want the same thing, they both want the Tea Party people's money.

Is that why you're at DU, a site that immediately bans anyone with an opposing political argument, or who hands the few hardy souls who do get away with making a conservative point a snarky "enjoy your stay" or "your concern is noted" or "welcome to my ignore list" or "whose paid shill are you?" Because they're good at taking criticism?

What an Fing idiot. The Tea Party is FOR LIMITED GOVERNMENT.
These people have sub 50 IQs and if breathing were not autonomic would all be dead.

If the Tea Party would focus their anger not on "government" but on those in power, then their cause could gain traction with us on the left.
If the OWSers would focus their anger not on "corps" but on those in power, then their cause could gain traction with us on the right
The correct focus is on the ever expanding role of gov't, not corps. Corps don't and can't threaten my freedom, but gov't can and will given the opportunity. A corp tries to take my freedom, I can cut it off at the knees by refusing to conduct business with it. Not so with gov't.
I'll put it in your terms.
If you believe corps have bought off the gov't, then cut the size of gov't and its role and automatically corps have no reason to try and influence via gov't. It's only because gov't is as big as it is that corps want to purchase power in order to control it. If you just rid the influence of corps in gov't, you still haven't eliminated gov't abusing its power over the people. Lessen the role of gov't, and you lessen the influence of corps AND lessen the influence of gov't abusing its power over the people.
Yeah, I know, that's a little complicated. Try and mull it over for a while.

The whole thing about the Tea Party allying with the OWS: We know what Marxists do to their allies. No thanks.
