I'm about to cry: just received my first eviction notice

I work damn hard, I've been eating nothing but rice and ramun and the food donated to the OccupyAustin movement. I'm seaching feverishly for a second job. Other than cigarettes I have been able to keep "luxury" spending down to $15 a week and still I can't pay my ****ing rent or utilities. I made $9 for an 8 hour shift on thurs. I can't tell whether I'm more angry, sad, or disappointed in myself but I do know thy all of the strides I have taken to better myself, all the wonderful purpose I have have obtained, all the sacrifices I have made to help others, all the progress I've made in battling my depression and insomnia just went out the window. *******it I am one of the hardest working, most dedicated, level headed and intelligent employees most businesses will ever have, why the **** can't this work for me? When is the good kharma gonna come back around? When God when will I not have to continuously struggle just to have peace of mind? Will never give up, I know I have great things I can do in the future to help others. From the horses mouth I have already saved lives and souls, and it is that knowledge, that purpose, that I can and do make positive differences in people's lives that keeps me going, as well as my friend's children, my nieces and nephews that I love more than anything on this earth and I need to be there for them. Sometimes connection through serendipity is far thicker than blood. But sometimes, I just want to roll over and stay in dream.

Well, welcome to the real world child.

You cannot Occupy Austin days on end and expect your bills to be paid. Crying and dreaming won't pay the rent.

I'm looking, I see no one stepping up to help.

Solidarity sucks.

First off, Solidarity is the NEW Seig Heil!

Now, I wonder if the DUchebags will start a fundraiser for incompetence.

It would have to be an infinite fundraiser.   :lmao:

Hmmmm...9 bucks an hour, 40 hours a week, $360 bucks a week (before taxes), but if he's going through a carton a week....yeah, I can see where that'd cramp your style, dude.

And if you were so hard working, why the hell are you camped out with a bunch of ****ing hippies instead of asking for double shifts?

Sincerely,

A guy who's averaged 65 hours a week for the past two months.

I think he meant $9 for an ENTIRE 8 hours.  That would be $45 a week.

Why am I thinking someone is getting paid(far less then minimum wage I might add) to protest at this 'grass roots movement'. See through bs and it must be defeated. This is but one useful idiot whose idiocy would put the US and its resources in the hands of Soros to delve out at his will while he gets richer. They are such morons, they really are.

It's undoubtedly a tip based function. How much would you tip service-type staff if they exhibited a surly attitude, had bad breath so bad it could singe your eyebrows and slung your order at you with a sneer? I figure "dragonbreath" hasd to pay back his/her employer for the angry customers that complained and left without paying.

Because you are lying to yourself.  Your employer probably thinks you are lazy and that you take too many smoke breaks.

If you quit smoking I might have some sympathy for your non-spelling ass. :loser:

Well, he is posting from his campground.  On what, I may ask?  I don't even have a phone or other device that does that.  But, I have a house, a car, and FOOD.   :thatsright:

Oh yeah, and I average 65 hours a week too, but no overtime here Sparky.   :bawl:  I picked the wrong field.   :whatever:

10. little employment tip
Not too many people applying to work at UPS. And UPS is doing a lot of hiring right now to handle the holiday season. It's the busiest time of the year for them. All nighttime jobs... go show up at a warehouse and throw boxes around (some of the jobs are very physical, some are pretty easy - if you don't look super strong they'll find you an easier job). It's actually not that bad. Aside from your first week or two you don't see your supervisors much and they don't ride you at all. It's pretty nice. Just listen to your iPod all day and get a little exercise. Check into them.

He/she never comes back to tell them who is paying $1 per hour.

I have to admit, when I read the first sentence,

Quote

a little smile involuntarily formed on my face.

25. The problem is you are dependent on others for a livelihood

That is the problem with the world today. Our dependency needs to be shifted off of others, off of employers and back on the earth, the true provider of resources. Then you will discover the life of abundance you are seeking. I highly recommend reading "a different kind of luxury". It is the first step in taking back our independence and autonomy from others.

That is too stupid for words.

Before I even went over there I wondered how many posts it would take for one of them to say "Don't leave, just squat on the property!!!!"

3.  It took 3 whole posts before someone told them to simply screw the landlord.  The evil person who let them sign a contract to have a roof over there head for $X.xx amount per month.

They break the contract then it is always someone elses fault.  Must be.

I would post some tips and advice on how to get over this hump ( I learned them the hard way since I am going though a bad patch my self right now but things are going to get MUCH better by the end of the month ) but I know no DUmmie would ever look at it.

If you make $9 for 8 hours of "work" then you either suck at your job or you are deluding you self into thinking you have a job.

As for smoking I can't say a damn thing. Before everything flew off the rails for me I had pretty much quit smoking. I used e cigs and gum and would even go long stretches without either. Now I am smoking again at a time I can ill afford it. I am spending $23.38 a week on them. They are $3.34 a pack here. I went a week a without them a couple of months ago but I was wound up tighter then a cheap watch the entire time. Ironicly my BP went up with out them becaused I was so tense.

I'm guessing that it might be some sort of online "job" where you are paid pennies for completing tasks.

Be better off selling plasma. It keeps gas in my truck. First donation of the week is $25 and the second is $40 with a $10 bonus for the 6th donation of the month. Not bad if you don't mind sitting around for a little over a hour with a huge needle in your arm. That $270 a month has been a huge help to keep me going as I rebuild my life. And I was able to use the Visa debit card they put my money on to get my 3G Kindle replaced after I dropped it. It was still under warranty but they had to have a card with money on it on my Amazon account since they send you the replacement and you use the box it came in to send back the busted one.

I was so happy to get it replaced. I have hundreds of free books on, dozens of games, and free internet on the experimental browser. Sometimes I even use it to post here. I will sell my lap top if I am desperate but NOT the Kindle.

I read it as clearing (I assume, erading between the lines just a bit) $9 for an 8-hour shift, which would be $45 a week assuming the dope was doing 40 hours.  He could just be one DU's typically-incompetent communicators, of course.

Okay, let me understand...you want autonomy but you want the government to take care of you. Yeah, that'll work.

But let me ask you: How do you pay for things you can't "get from the land"? How will you pay for internet? Cell phone & cell phone service? How about clothes, toilet paper, soap (okay you guys probably wouldn't buy this). Even if you want to live off grid, it's very expensive to buy & set up. Since none of you have any money you 're not going to have the finances to do this. How about financing? Well, you have to have good credit and show that you have the resources to pay your monthly payment. As a general rule banks don't barter for eggs, wool and goat's milk. So do you do without a refrigerator? Electricity? Even if you imagine an idyllic life with candles & oil lamps (things that also need to be replaced & cost money), how will you charge your cell phone? Use your computer? I supposed you could sponge off friends, neighbors, family but all that requires transportation from point A to point B. There's no bus service in the country so you'll have to have a car, most likely a truck. Hay & feed have to be hauled. Egg layers have to have a certain amount of protein to be healthy enough to lay eggs.

When you first start out of your perfect little life you're going to be spending quite a bit of money just getting started. There's buying the land (even if you think the government should just give it to you, shouldn't you pay the native Americans that it was originally stolen from? If the land doesn't have a house or a barn you're going to need one. You'll also need fencing (this is more expensive than the coop & barn). You'll have to add amendments to the soil & cover crops & seeds. Depending on where you live or how much food you're going to need you might need a green house. Young chicks, ducklings, goslings, kids, lambs, calves all require warmth to grow and thrive. You're going to lose about 10% of your livestock & they'll have to be replaced. It's inevitable that you're going to have a disaster of some kind. It took me years to get enough hens to make a profit on eggs, and it's small. One year I lost 70 birds because I revamped one of the outbuildings across the pond so I'd have a larger chicken coop. A couple of roving dogs, in a matter of hours when I was in town and my dogs were inside, killed them. Didn't even eat them, just left dead bodies everywhere. It was devastating and I'm still rebuilding.

Farming is hard work and considering you're going to have needs and wants that you won't be able to get from your piece of paradise (no one has managed to grow an iPhone yet) you're going to have to work very, very hard for a few years to turn a profit to pay for those things. How do you guys plan to pay for that? Damned if my tax dollars will. My husband has a job off the farm while I'm working to make it profitable enough so that when he's ready to retire we'll have some extra income. It's very slow going. I seriously had no idea how hard it was going to be. I love it now but I'd never done anything like this and was completely lost at first. Think about it DUmmie.
