City Hall Tells Dallas Occupiers to Get Insurance or Else. They're Leaning Toward "Or Else."

... Everybody in the Occupy Dallas encampment I talked to at about noon today was aware of what just happened in Boston. They're braced for the same thing here if the city tries to toss them out.

A city permit issued late yesterday allows the Occupiers to stay in Pioneer Park near City Hall but requires that they post a million-dollar liability insurance policy by 5 p.m. today. The Occupiers I spoke with told me they think the insurance requirement is bogus, and they don't intend to do it.

They've been talking to lawyers about City Code and First Amendment rights. At their headquarters tent, Michael Prestonise told me: "For special events permitting, their rule is that an event that has over 5,000 people will require a million-dollar insurance policy, and an event that has 2,500 to 4,999 will require a half-million dollar insurance policy."

He said the maximum number of people taking part in the Pioneer Park protest is far below the 2,500-person trigger for insurance. "Since they don't mention anything below 2,500, we are taking the position that it doesn't apply to us," Prestonise said ...

2. Tell City Hall to read the First Amendment to the US Constitution.
When Texas Secedes, they can write their own, Until then....**** off.

Remember that the next time you seize some farmer's family property without due process or compensation because a hard rain turned it into a "wetland."

You would think that a bunch of leftists would be thrilled to be forced to buy insurance.

I'm waiting for a fire to break-out in one of the OWieS shanty towns. It will be packed beyond safe capacity, there will be flammable cooking supplies and heaters, trash and other items will not be properly disposed of or stored, there will be no visibly-marked evacuation routes and emergency services will be lacking in both planning and supplies.

People will get hurt.

Lots of people.

Then the left will ignore the fact they were begging for a disaster--in direct contravention of all the regs they force on the rest of us--and claim it was started by RW operatives.

They will just claim a paid right wing teabagger fundie fascist agent set the fire.

BTW, where to I apply for paid right winger agent anyway? The DUmmies keep talking about them and I could use the money.

Ditto.  I'm being laid off next week.  I could use the money.

I've sure had them try to explain to me why it was such a great idea with Obamacare when I expressed how pissed off I was at a blatant loss of freedom.

Not as many as you think, The numbers of protesters aren't that high.

Sometimes the rubbernecking tourist and casual passerby observers outnumber the protesters. These are the people that are in danger of being trampled when the OWSies begin their panic stricken stampede to where their parents had the chauffeur park the limo.

Who made all this insurance necessary?  (My business is insured 6 different ways, the cost is enormous).  The lawsuit-happy society we've become.  Who made it so litigious?  The liberal, blame-everybody-but-myself crowd.  The mentality that it's just someone else's money, so it doesn't matter.

You own this, DUmmies.  Buy your insurance.

First, you have to get the DUmmies to name some organizer or leader, maybe this Michael Prestonise character will do. Then, collect the money for the premiums for the policies for "Michael Prestonise dba " (fill in the blank) ". Fire, public liability, and non-owned auto liability will do for starters.

Does Dallas have a no "smoking" on public property ordinance? New York seems to be missing a big money source if they don't enforce their's. (http://www.conservativecave.com/Smileys/default/stoner.gif)

No smoking 15 feet from an entrance to a building.  They are ok for that.  But, it is raining, and we haven't had any in a while.  The PD doesn't anticipate too much fuss when they are removed later today.

Oh this is rich. Moonbats being forced to deflate their estimates of crowd size rather than inflating them. In any other case they'd be claiming, "250,000 showed up!"
