Alaska's Permanent Fund gives $1174 of OUR oil money to each Alaskan

Alaska gives each Alaskan resident a nice big fat check each year derived from the state's oil company profits. I'd bet my next pay check that if Texas or Louisiana (two other big oil states) tried to pass the same type of state constitutional amendment, the other 46 states of the lower 48 would be screeching NOT FAIR, and I believe rightly so, and they would not get away with it.

Since Alaska IS part of the same nation as the lower 48 and Hawaii, how do they keep getting away with this scam of skimming profits from United States oil reserves and distributing it ONLY to residents in Alaska?

Permanent Fund deposits $1,174 in Alaskans' accounts

Most Alaskans will be getting $1,174 in Permanent Fund dividends today.

It's a day widely anticipated by most residents, who get their yearly dividend from the state's vast oil wealth just for living in Alaska.

Most eligible Alaskans will get their dividends by direct deposit on Thursday. The rest will receive checks in the mail.

Voters passed a constitutional amendment in 1976 to establish the Permanent Fund as a way to stretch out the state's oil wealth for future generations.

With money kind of tight nowadays, I'm feeling kind of ripped off.

Doesn't Alaska get enough of our taxpayers money already?

I have worked all over the state, and it's a beautiful place, but I think it's time to share the dough with the rest of the country. After all, it's all our oil too. Maybe it's time to end this skimming scam.

I feel the same way about my tax dollars DUmmie.  I earned the money yet I'm forced to give it to people like YOU.

2. Oh, Texas gets its share, too.....

......it just goes to a handful of mega-rich oilmen instead of the people.

:whatever:  Yeah, no one else benefits from that money.  Strange though .... I seem to know a lot of people who work in the refineries.  Hell I used to work in the refineries making pretty damn good money.  I can't remember what they were refining though.  Hmmmm.

6. for one thing Alaska only has about 700,000 residents in the entire state
Edited on Sat Oct-08-11 06:22 PM by Motown_Johnny
So if you take the 710,231 that was the population total as of April 10 2010 and multiply it by the $1,174 per resident you end up with a measly $833,811,194.

Pocket change for oil companies.

If you want to be outraged then look at the federal money they get (while conservatives there complain about the federal government being evil and to intrusive).

http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/31/states-tha... /

^snip^

Alaska received nearly twice the national average, taking in $20,351.13 per resident, the most of any American state.

Besides, how else are you going to get Alaskans to vote for the destruction of their own state by big oil? You need to put everyone on the payroll or the wells literally dry up.

Now for the bitch slap ...

7. What other state is over 65% OWNED by the federal government?

Edited on Sat Oct-08-11 06:28 PM by Blue_In_AK

In truth, only about 1% of the entire state is in private ownership. Nearly one-quarter of Alaskan jobs are with the federal government, compared to 13% in other states. That's just how it is. If the federal government owns the state, and they need workers to administer that ownership, then naturally more federal money is going to be spent here.

See this chart for a breakdown of who owns Alaska.

http://nrm.salrm.uaf.edu/~stodd/AlaskaPlanningDirectory...

I get really tired of this crap after explaining it over and over and over. Why don't you guys just sell us to Canada and let us get on with our lives?

 :lmao:

DUmmies now see what their federal taxes go to!

Not much to it but I thought it was funny.

Arizona, pretty much.  I believe only about 11% is privately-owned, all the rest is Federal, Tribal, or State.

Seems the DUmmies don't understand that the resource was drawn from state land, not private land.
Basically, a royalty payment.
Had it been private, the royalties would go to the land owner if they had the mineral rights.
Typical DUmmie. All your stuff are belong to us.

I think Nevada is the state with the biggest percentage of its land owned by the federal government.

I'm sure the primitives would have no problem with that $1174-per-resident distribution, instead of being given each individual, being sent to the government in Juneau or Washington, the idea being that the government knows best how to spend money.

It's kind of ironic that the party who once had a leader who made a speech that included "ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country" has become the party whose every other statement is "give me."

Even more ironic is the fact the DUmmie doesn't mention moving to Alaska.  No, in typical DUmmie fashion he wants them to just send the money to him.

Still don't want to do anything for the $$$

Yeah, and it was Sarah Palin that re-negotiated the distribution from the Oil and Gas companies.

Bite on that, Dummies.

Alaska has been doing this since at least 1965 or so, which was from what I heard from cousins that grew up in Kodiak.

What does the words "Permenent Fund" mean anyway? It doesn't say anything about oil fund... Granted thirty years ago when the "Permenent Fund" was first created it was done with oil revenues, but now it is basically a huge bank account/investment fund and every Alaskan is a share holder in that fund.. Every year we get a dividend from intererst and investments earned from that fund NOT FROM OIL.. It is like someone getting interest on their savings account.. The interest is not the same thing as whaerever the original amount of money you started your savings account came from..It is not oil money, get over yourself..

First I'm really glad this DUmmies gets some of the 'permenent fund' otherwise it would have NO income.  The spelling and grammar of this DUmmie would rival Nadin or Pam Dawson.

Second this is not going to endear the DUmmies to Alaska's permanent fund because it sounds like this money is coming from INVESTMENTS!  LOL  The Alaskans are getting more for doing NOTHING and are relying solely on Wall Street.

Hmmmm maybe that money should be taxed as income rather than investment so the gov't can have more of it.

The Alaskan DUmmies aren't liking this thread one bit.  They got theirs!

Let Alaska dole out oil bonuses to every Alaskan citizen.

Since the Massholes are not beholden to dead Kennedys, they can finally build that flock of windmills off Cape Cod.

Then, very soon, every adult Masshole can begin receiving an annual share of the envirowhackjob losses.

I wonder if the DUmmies would take that money along with the Alaska prices that go along with it...you know, $8/gal for milk, $10/gal for heating oil out in some of the more remote villages, and if you're caught with booze in dry towns, oh, poor DUmmies...

That's what I was wondering, myself.

Also, didn't the amounts used to be a lot more than just a thousand bucks?  Many years ago?

Like ten or twelve times that much, but it's dependent upon the oil taken out during the year?

I still think the primitives wouldn't complain if it went to government rather than to the people, though.

There were times I (VERY briefly) considered plying my trade in places like Alaska, an offshore rig somewhere, or God forbid, with Amarco in Saudi Arabia.  The salaries they were offering SOUNDED pretty damn good--until you looked at the costs of living in those areas and the incidental costs of living there as well, not to mention in Saudi guys who like to play Ginsu knife party with your head.

It's all relative, coach.

Why do DUmmies care who owns the land in Alaska?  It's not like they were going to let anyone use it (ANWR).

I think you have to live there for three or five years before you're eligible to receive any money.  DUmmies would never make it.  Also, most of that land has no infrastructure, no utilities, and plenty of big-assed brown bears who like to eat stupid liberals.

It's nice to know that there are still vast tracts of America that are not sullied with the presence of tree huggers, Disney fans, Marxtards, dykes and fairies. Warms the cockles o'me heart it does. :-)

Uh, aren't a good portion of these resident "first peoples"? The DUmmies want to deprive minorities who've been treated so badly by the white man of money earned off of their own land? Not to mention keeping them from using land they've had for eons the way they want. Next thing you know they'll want to be taking over Indian Casinos so they can steal money from these people who've already been trampled on by the white man. Here they take a mostly useless plot of land and find a way to make a living on it and you guys will probably want to rob them after you finish taking the money earned from by native Alaskans. How is this any different than someone renting a house? The land is owned BY the people. Shameless selfish pigs!
