One sentence sums up what is wrong with this country
Speaking at a White House news conference, Obama said:
"We have to have a strong, effective financial sector in order for us to grow."
Which makes me wonder : "Why do we have to "grow" ?
Perhaps if we simply held a steady course for a few years we'd be better off. Instead of the Fed "growing" inflation, instead of corporations "growing" bonuses, instead of Unions "growing" salaries and instead of government "growing" wars, maybe if we had a stable economy we'd all be better off.
Why must our leaders always think of "growing" ? Can it be that "growing" has always been a fictional facade under which the 1% keep the 99% in their place ? By giving them the illusion of having something they never had ?
As in:
"Look ! You have 4% more income than you had last year". While not mentioning it will buy 2% less.

This DUmmy just posted heresy at DU, instead of Unions "growing" salaries and instead of government "growing" wars, maybe if we had a stable economy we'd all be better off. . He actually is saying that not only are what unions doing part of the problem in his view, he is saying that they need to stop demanding more pay.

0bama is working hard at that 'not growing thingy.'
GDP Growth will be at or below 1% for 2011. This stopping growth and prosperity is hard and doesn't happen over night.

Answer to the OP. Growth will give jobs to the unemployed. That's why business/corporations need to grow.
I know that little lesson is lost on a nanny state elitist where all things come from the state...but that is why Obama's words sounded so strange to DUmmy frankcjames.
frankcjames, you can rest assured that Obama's words are empty. He is dedicated to destroying the economy, not growth or stagnation as you suggest. You should know by now that Obama LIES. He lied to you about ending the Iraq war, closing Gitmo and so many other promises he made to his base.
With democrats in charge frankcjames, you need to learn to shut up, obey and not question Democrat leaders. Their ways are mysterious to little people, that's why freedom can only be entrusted to the democratic elite.

I seem to recall back in 2004 a media obsession with the unemployment numbers hoping that President Bush would have negative growth in that area.
It doesn`t seem possible that O will have more jobs added then when he took office so I wonder if that will make the news.
