Title: DUmmies Discuss Work Boots - A Very Short Thread
Post by: GOBUCKS on October 04, 2011, 09:40:05 PM
I thought this was a strange thread, because I couldn't understand what a DUmp democrat would do with work boots:

I found and bought a pair of American made work boots yesterday!
I usually try to buy American made products, but find it hard to find things like clothing and shoes that aren't made outside the country. I have now discovered Thorogood brand work shoes. The pair I bought seem very well made, and were actually a few dollars less in price than the boots made in China next to them on the shelf. I used to buy Red Wing and Carolina boots, but those brands are now made overseas. If anyone knows of any other American made boots, I would like to know.

Well, there was no explanation, here or anywhere in the thread. So I still have to ask, what in the world would a DUmp democrat do with work boots?
Birkenstocks, flipflops, Chucks, beatle boots, but never work boots.

4. It's worth spending money on a good pair of workboots
If well made, they will last decades, and many soles.

I don't rightly know these days where the hell to get shoes re-soled.

Not holding membership among the freeloading 99ers, it's probably just me, but I've never worn out the soles on a pair of boots, and I've never heard of anyone having them resoled.

Dress shoes, all the time, but boots?

I'm pretty sure DUmmy eallen has never owned a pair of work boots.

And wouldn't know what to do with them if he did.  Probably a Croc-wearing pansy. :loser:

I know why they would need boots in a figurative sense: to wade through the bullshit that they spew. I don't know why they would need boots in reality. Maybe they've spent all their time ranting on DU so the floor never gets cleaned. Not cleaned to the point of needing a boots to protect their feet from the grime.

About the only way you could wear out the soles on modern work boots is to take a bench grinder to them. More lies from the liars.

No,Red Wings are still made in America.  They have a lower brand named Worx that are made over seas but the Red Wings are made in Minnesota.

A mixture of rough concrete and chemicals will wear out the soles before the rest of the boot. I buy cheap ones at Walmart or K Mart and they last as long as the expensive ones that some co-workers buy.

And still very much worth it.

Actually lack of use or exposure to some chemicals can do that.

I had a backup freebie pair of steel-cap work boots that sat about in a cupboard for ages. Took them out because my normal pair were wet and wore them over a long weekend walking about through the scrub. Before leaving I'd fuelled up a truck and walked through a lot of diesel. Come the end of the weekend the little remaining sole could be scraped away with a fingernail.

Tops of steel toed boots wore out faster on my boots. Soles OK but no leather over the steel toes. [20]

Well, yeah...I mean if you are constantly bathing them in oxidizers.

Indeed they are.
