We live in a strange world
We can have a Republican president who spends 8 years driving our country into the economic ditch with his policies yet some people can be convinced it is the fault of the Democratic president who inherits the mess after being in office less than three years.
If a lazy Republican president allows a terrorist attack killing thousands to happen on his watch, after being repeatedly warned of an impending attack, he is considered a hero and a strong president and everyone loves him. But if a Democratic president actually does something to prevent an attack from happening before one actually does occur he is considered some kind of dirty dog.
And if a Republican has both a recession and a terrorist attack occur on his watch like Bush the Idiot did within months of being in office, well then it is double plus good, and his approval rating will shoot up to +90%.
We live in a strange world full of strange people don't we?

Hey Don, it's not that 0bama hasn't fixed everything that has people mad, it's the fact that he made it worse. And you and 0bama keep whining about what he inherited, yet Bush inherited a much bigger mess from Al Queda and he never whined and complained and bitched about bad luck.

1. yes, we do, Don... I make sure to hammer those facts to all my GOP coworkers, family, and a few
acquaintances/friends that are GOP. I love pointing out how they never once complained about the massive debt B*sh built, until a Democrat and black guy got into the WH! I finally am making way on a couple from Colorado. It's been a long go of it, but they, especially the woman who's a lifetimes GOPer, are starting to acknowledge that the GOP leaders are especially out to protect the rich... They used to send me forwards every week about Obama, and most of it was filled with lies. I'm praying for them, because, like the few other people I know who are Repubs, I cannot believe they are... I guess they just don't delve into the issues enough to understand what they're backing. I got my best friend and his mom to vote for Kerry in '04 after decades of being GOPers (she lovessss Reagan still, bah!) and they haven't looked back. There's hope for all of these confused people, but it just takes one of us to get to educate them...
Hey moron we complained about the spending under Bush and the republics, in fact that is why you goons won in 2006 and 2008.
I think it's cute you think you can educate us, when we have the truth on our side.

Yeah, Don, we live in a strange world all right, and it's too bad it's your world, a world created by Democrats, liberals, and primitives, for the rest of us to live in--a world where you've given us that down is up, black is white, dry is wet, round is square, bad is good, foul is aesthetic, greed is charity, life is death, hate is compassion.
Fortunately, Don, this strange world, as all ages and eras and epochs must, is coming to an end, and a new day's dawning.
Shove that up your rectal aperture and smoke it, Don.

Damn Frank, you took the words right out of my mouth.
Yes DUmmies, you made your bed, now sleep in it.

I don't find any of that nearly as strange as the fact there are people who think that economic problems can get calamitously worse for three years under one President and it is still somehow his predecessor's fault, but America can be attacked by a terror network that has been at war with us for ten years just eight months after that predecessor took office and that was all on him.

Yep, Bush was supposed to fix everything Clinton didn't do in less than 8 months, but Obama's huge deficit increases, lack of leadership, and inability to do anything but borrow money even with a huge Democratic majority...are all Bush's fault. Of course, the DUmmies recognize that Repukes tend to get a lot more done with a lot less, so maybe their point is valid. No one really expects Dims to get anything done well...especially other Dims.
Looked at correctly, their consistent whining really is a bad-hand compliment. They know they can't do anything well, so expect that of their representatives at all levels. They know that Repukes tend to do far better, so instinctively expect our reps to be far more excellent than their own.

Actually, if you look at the data from 1999-2001, you'll see that Bush also inherited a recession after the dot-com bubble burst. When did the Dow and NASDAQ peak? IIRC, it was somewhere around April of 2000.
If a lazy Republican president allows a terrorist attack killing thousands to happen on his watch, after being repeatedly warned of an impending attack, he is considered a hero and a strong president and everyone loves him. You mean like the first WTC bombing, Khobar Towers, the African embassy bombings, and the USS Cole? And the reaction to those was what, exactly? Lob a few Tomahawks at an aspirin factory? And hate to say it, but killing an American citizen without due process is kind of problematic, even if on foreign soil and conducting treasonous acts, but then again he was never charged with that, now was he?
And if a Republican has both a recession and a terrorist attack occur on his watch like Bush the Idiot did within months of being in office, well then it is double plus good, and his approval rating will shoot up to +90%.
Talk about "inherited from the previous administration"...

Yes indeed, Don. So tell me, before you pontificate further, how did Bush "drive us into the ditch"? Was it that reckless home ownership policy? Oh wait--he tried to warn us of that. Overeasing of credit? Nope--not on him either. TARP? Yeah, well, I'll give him some shit for signing that hunk of guano but then again, he couldn't have signed it had a Democrat-controlled Congress not passed it, now could he? Mismanagement of the Iraq war? Well, people don't seem to realize that politics stops at the water's edge and calling our own troops Nazis, saying the war is lost, etc., wasn't exactly helpful, now was it?

I agree that DUches do live in a strange world.

OK, this is one theme the left repeatedly brings up that really pisses me off. They keep harping on the August 6, 2001 briefing the President Bush received that warned an attack by muslim extremists was highly possible. No time table or place given as to when to where this attack will actually occur, just a heads up to the CINC. Based on this somewhat limited information, what exactly was GWB supposed to do? Can you imagine the uproar from the left if he would have immediately demanded profiling of muslims and arabs based on this heads up report. Shit, even after the 9/11 attacks and we knew the profile of who carried out the attack, we still can't profile and the tsa seems more concerned groping old ladies and small children while groups of muslims board planes and intentionally act suspiciously and they get a free pass because we are too afraid to offend or piss off the group of people who want us dead.

I'll bet this DUmbass's family really looks forward to holiday dinners and reunions.

If by some miracle he'd managed to stop 9/11 from happening, the DUmmies would be absolutely convinced that the steps he used were pure fascism, had no basis in fact, and didn't stop anything. As is, everything he did to stop any further attacks are met with complete condemnation from the idiots, including his plan to take the battle to the terrorists, on their turf. There is nothing Bush could have done at any point in his presidency that would meet with their approval. Sheesh, he could have personally donate a thousand dollars to each DUmpMonkey, and they'd have added up all his assets and complained that he didn't give away enough.

And yet, the continuation (much to their chagrin) of Bush's intelligence policies put in, post 9/11, are the very policies that enabled Obama to nab Bin Laden and Awlaki. :mental:

Gosh, guess what, guess what...I've finally got a couple of left wing loons to use their brains. They're finally starting to see what hypocrites the left is. Naturally they've been liberal all their life. They kept repeating the Republicans are racist because it was okay for Bush to get us into debt but they blame 0bama. I pointed out to them that we got mad at Bush too and the whole Republican policy and if 0bama really wanted "change" he wouldn't have doubled down (or quadrupled down) on Bush's mistake. I said I blamed his white side for this cuz we all know whites are racist and his white half was trying to undermine his black half. It's probably the white half that owns the bedroom slippers. That's why we need someone like Herman Cain because he's authentic and wouldn't be at war with himself.
They tried to pull that crap that Republicans protect the rich. I reminded them that the richest people in congress are Dems and that those speaking out about taxing the rich more are fat ****s like Michael Moore who, in spite of his constant whining about it never sends extra money, nor do any of the other Hollywood rich and that Warren Buffet may be joining the chorus about wanting to pay more in taxes is currently fighting the IRS about unpaid taxes. If he means what he says wouldn't he just give it to them, saving the middle class from having to use their tax dollars on litigation. That's money that could've gone to help the poor & illegal aliens they're so protective of. Plus there's all those examples of the 0bama administration being crony capitalism on steroids.

For all of Bush's faults he gets no credit for trying to stop the housing bubble, trying to increase oil drilling, or trying to shore up Social Security. It was Congress that rebuffed him on all three and they are large parts of our current mess. He was not sitting passively while these things started to snow ball.
