If you have bad credit you can't open up a new checking account at just any bank
 or credit union.

I know several people this has happened to. Like many of us, they read here and they get emails telling them to pull their money out of BofA or whatever that day's bad bank may be. But when they go to that new bank or credit union, they are told sorry you can't open a checking account here.

Then where can they go?

Please remember this before you tell anyone they're using the wrong bank. Not all of us have the option to change banks. They aren't like grocery stores.

It's never them.  Always someone they know.   :whatever:

2. True, but depending on what kinds of banking services they need,
there are options for people with bad credit. Not as many as those with good credit perhaps.

If one has an existing checking account with BofA and bad credit, then yeah, they are probably stuck and have to work within the framework dictated by BofA policy until their credit improves.

I don't ever remember having a credit check to open a checking account at any bank.

Ya know, the more I read the DUmp the more I see why the DUmmies have money problems.  They don't understand simple finance. The debit card thread a while back proved that.

Must be why they hate banks.  Somebody to blame their ignorance on.

Stupid, selfish depositors wanting their money to be there when they go to make a withdrawal.

Who do they think they are wanting their money!

The banks must be profiling DU members because I've never had to do a credit check for a bank account.

I've never had a credit check at a bank either.  I can imagine one of our small banks doing that and using bad credit as an excuse if they know the person is a risk, though.

I've never heard of someone being refused a checking account. They may require that you deposit a few dollars to open, but that's it.

I've never had a credit check for a bank account; not ever.  I've changed banks 3 times in 2 1/2 years with nary a problem.  The CSRs didn't even leave their desks while I was opening the accounts and I could see the monitors the entire time.  There were no credit checks.

Why this bouncy?  Is she out of material?

Deadbeats.

Of course class warfare is happening - but it's not the working vs the rich.  Most working don't care if someone else is rich.  The true class warfare is between the working class and the deadbeat class (i.e. liberals).  The deadbeat class fights to get their hands into as many pockets as they can manage to steal from.

Yeah, that's weird.  Never had a credit check, all they want is positive ID, proof of SSAN, and some minimal deposit.  Mayber the KC Libtardess banks at a finance company...

I have also never had a credit check to open a checking account; however, based on previous example of DU behavior I would imagine that they do not do things like normal folks so rules for them may be different.

--------------

Normal person/banker conversation:

Normal Person: I'd like to open a new checking account.
Banker: Oh good. What will be the amount of your initial deposit?
Normal Person: $500
Banker: Great. Let's get this done for you.

------------------

DUer/banker conversation:

DUer: I WANT A NEW CHECKING ACCOUNT CORPORATE WHORE!
Banker: Uh? Okay...What will be the amount of your initial deposit?
DUer: MONEY! MONEY! MONEY! THAT'S ALL YOU FASCISTS EVER WANT IS OUR MONEY!
Banker: Well...um...you did come to us so I really do need to know the amount of your initial deposit.
DUer: IF YOU MUST KNOW, SATAN SPAWN, MY INITIAL DEPOSIT WILL BE -$500.
Banker: That is a negative five hundred dollars?
DUer: ARE YOU DEAF MONEY GRABBER? YES, -$500.
Banker: Yes...okay...if I may ask, how can your initial deposit be negative five hundred dollars?
DUer: BECAUSE, THIEF OF DREAMS, I WANT YOU TO GIVE ME $500. ARE YOU STUPID OR SOMETHING?
Banker: Okay...uhm...I think I might understand now. You are seeking a loan.
DUer: I DO NOT WANT A LOAN, FREEPER TROLL! I WANT TO OPEN A CHECKING ACCOUNT!
Banker: Well...with a checking account you have to make an initial deposit NOT an initial withdrawal. You can't really withdraw any money until you have money in the account.
DUer: I HAVE HEARD ENOUGH SCROOGE! I WILL TAKE MY BUSINESS WHERE I WILL BE APPRECIATED!
Banker: Nice day to you then.

When the monthly checking account is $10 and the DUche only puts in $12.75, I would do a credit check too.

I can't be sure but if this is true then it was in Dodd-Fwank to help the little guy.

Maybe she's trying to run away from an overdraft.
Overdraft fees are a huge issue at the DUmp.
The 99%ers constantly run into red numbers on their account balance.

I don't think they do a credit check either, I think they just check to see if you owe fees such as bounced check fees to another bank, and you have to pay those off before you open a new account.

Actually they DO run credit checks when one opens an account with a new bank (the customer just doesn't see it happening)........part of the regulations required by DHS.......along with the ID, your credit score and payment history comes up on the bank officer's screen when he/she is opening your account, and enters your SSN.

They don't tell you that it's being done, but if you ask them (nicely) they will even advise you of your current credit score........

That's what I was thinking, it seems since the early part of the century they started that, and most of the time they don't mention that they are doing it.

I'm wondering about this.

Anne and hubby are both teachers in Kansas City, Missouri, and have been around long enough they're pulling down $74,000+ per year.  Each.

Why would she be having money problems?

It's obvious she is, if one reads between the lines.

I'm not sure about that, but I should have added something to the DUer's last line. It would probably have been more accurate if it read: I HAVE HEARD ENOUGH SCROOGE! I WILL TAKE MY BUSINESS WHERE I WILL BE APPRECIATED! AND JUST SO YOU KNOW I'M REPORTING YOU TO KEEF AND RACHEL! With the banker saying: Nice day to you then and tell Keef and Rachel, whoever they maybe, hello for me.

Just a thought.
Would a bank want to know if there any legal judgements against a person, that they must then address?
If, "yes", why would they want to have to deal with all the BS that goes with it?
Banks in Kansas, give her a mallet, cat and a bucket of sand. Some assembly required.

Me either  :mental:.  DUmmies can't figure out why they don't accept seashells, shekels or Clinton Three-Dollar bills.
