The Republican primaries have been taking a weird, wrenching turn. The pattern could be described as chaotic, except that it has one consistent theme.
"Anybody But Romney"...That theme is that Republican voters are searching for someone, anyone, other than Mitt Romney.
Mitt Romney ran a large national campaign for the nomination four years ago, so he is well-known to Republican primary voters. Too well known. They know all about his infamous flip-flops on abortion. They know all about RomneyCare, the government-directed health care plan he created as governor of Massachusetts, which he touted as a model for the rest of the nation to follow, and which Barack Obama and congressional Democrats actually did use for their model.
Hence the fact that Romney has never drawn the support of more than 25% of Republicans in the polls, and not the strong support of that group, either. The Rick Perry boom, for example, took away about a third of Romney's supporters.

The smart thing is to vote for whichever Republican candidate that can pull veto-proof Republican majorities into Congress, especially the Senate. If it's Romney, so be it.

Agreed whole-heartedly, sir.
Enthusiastically.

The problem is his track record as Governor of Taxachusetts .He's Republican Conservative in name only....Just like N.Y.'s Bloomberg...
He talks out of both sides of his face, just like a Liberal,Governs like a liberal and hangs with the liberals. Massachusetts will never elect a true Conservative to high public office ,Sen.Brown's,at best,a lefty RINO......
As Mass. Governor he has raised taxes, initiated endless fees and fines and blocked private gun ownership.....In order to hunt in Massachusetts you need a hunting license,A firearms Id card, and A State certificate of firearms training .The resident hunting license is $35.00/yr,the Firearms Id cost over $100.00 and the firearms training cost $125.00... Unless you're a high ranking retired cop or Politician It's almost impossible to obtain a C.C. permit..
....Even with a hunting license,If you are caught with a gun,(shotguns only),even on your own land, without an Firearms ID the fine is over $100.00 and your name ends up on the terrorist watch list....He's jammed Romney_Care through.... He's allowed Homosexuals to teach their filth to young children in the public school system even overriding the wishes of the parents not to have their children present.. He's ruined the health care industry in Mass...Along with Dukakis and Patrick He was just one more in a long line of Liberal failures as Governor for Mass...

Since health care is my number one issue, I will not vote for the Father of Obamacare. Anyone that thinks Romney is a conservative has rocks in their heads.

I never, ever thought I would vote for Romney, but I am firmly planted in the Anybody But Obama camp.

Exactly. At this point, even Ron Paul would get my vote over Obama.

Ditto -- as much as it pains me to say that.

Same here. He's close to being my last choice in the GOP primary field, but if he wins it, I will still voter for him in the general, given the alternative.

Thankfully it won't come to that. Dr. Nutz is nailing his own coffin shut.

Yup. I think that Dr. Nutz is blowing holes into his own campaign, but if he were to be the nominee, I would vote for him over Obama. Hell, if George Pataki were to get the nomination, I'd vote for him over Obama. So, I'd vote for Romney in the general . . .
. . . but Herman Cain has my vote in the primary, as well as that of my wife.
-
Yes, Romney is obviously a RINO.
Cain will most likely get my vote in the primary (or Bachmann).
But I will hold my nose again to vote for this repuke if I have to.
Damn, Ive had to hold my nose for the last 3 elections now.

I still think Palin's going to get in. I seriously doubt Romney can get the nomination. I bet 0bama can beat him because he's 0bama-lite. Why vote for a faded imitation with well coiffed used car salesman hair when you can have the real thing.

I think it's too late for anyone to "get in," but being drafted at the convention could be a vastly different scenario.

Romney was a lousy Gov. in MA & the Repub party went to hell in a hand basket cause he did not actively support the party or candidates. 47 out of 50 in job creation during his term. Not a good resume.
I am of the opinion that a RINO Prez (Obama lite) will set the Repub party back many years. We need a Tea Party Conservative who not only will get the economy on track but take an axe to spending, eliminate agencies, cut subsidies on green energy and farmers and eliminate thousands of regulations and repeal Obamacare and drill everywhere. Romney is not up to the task. Palin would fight for each one of those issues. The rest of the candidates would just blow smoke up your ass to get elected. .

You would think the party leadership would have figured thing out by now wouldn't you.
I don't think Romney will make it out of the primaries but then I never figured anyone would vote for Grampa McLaim either. Go figure.

Seems that way to me too.

Of all the ones I can think of right now, he is my last choice. I'll vote for him if I have to but then I'll slap myself. And publicly I will only admit to voting for Kodos.

If it turns out that Romney is the sacrificial RINO slaughtered by the ReichsMessiah, I'll vote Cthulhu: by that time it will be of no use to vote for the lesser Evil.

chris christie just endorsed romney

He shouldn't have. It's not like he's gone to any great lengths to HIDE his personal beliefs on, say the 2nd Amendment, or gay marriage, or any of a host of other RINO sacred cows. Unlike Romney, who's busier covering shit up than a cat with the runs.

Another strike against Romney.
Obama’s Maniacal Science Czar John Holdren Advised Romney on Environmental Policy
Barack Hussein Obama has clotted the executive branch with unaccountable “czars†— unsavory characters too extreme to be confirmed for cabinet positions even by a hyper-partisan Democrat-controlled Senate. Among the most alarming of these malevolent lunatics is Science Czar John Holdren, a participant in ClimateGate who has advocated de-developing America and putting sterilants in the public water supply. Holdren has also spoken in favor of forced abortions, confiscation of babies, targeted as well as mass involuntary sterilization, bureaucratic regulation of family size, and global authoritarian government. If there is a line between ultra-left ideologue and evil maniac, Holdren clearly crosses it. No one to the right of Pol Pot would want John Holdren advising our leaders.
This brings us onto still more common ground between Barack Obama and Willard “Mitt†Romney. From an official memo released by Willard’s office when he was Governor of Taxachusetts, announcing “Strict New Clean Air Regulations“:
Governor Mitt Romney today announced that Massachusetts will take another major step in meeting its commitment to protecting air quality when strict state limitations on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from power plants take effect on January 1, 2006. …
Massachusetts is the first and only state to set CO2 emissions limits on power plants. The limits, which target the six largest and oldest power plants in the state, are the toughest in the nation…
In addition to reaffirming existing stringent CO2 limits, the draft regulations announced today, which will be filed next week, contain protections against excessive price increases for businesses and consumers. They allow power generation companies to implement CO2 reductions at their own facilities or fund other reduction projects off-site through a greenhouse gas offset and credits program.

I guess I was hoping that he would be different from the typical northeastern Repub.
