REPUBLICS, not Republican. This is your new language to spread.
Frank Luntz and his cadre of Orwellan language shock troops have been very effective in guiding the political language to their advantage; the most recent being the pervasive change of "Democratic" to "Democrat." I hear "Democrat" now everywhere...even by supposedly liberal commentators. The change has been so effective.
So, I propose we try the same to highlight the technique used against us. When people ask why we are referring to the Republican Party or Republican ideals as "Republic Party" or "Republic ideals," we are then provided the opportunity to explain the change and how it was prompted by the stupid change of Democratic to "Democrat."
For this to be effective, we need to spread the word and use the term CONSISTENTLY. The simple rule is when the word Republican should be use, just substitute "Republic". For instance, "I really dislike the methods the Republics are using to gum up Congress," or "The Republic Party owes the American people an explanation," etc.
WE CAN DO THIS. Remember, this isn't just a tit-for-tat. We should use the change to highlight the technique the Republics use and provide an opportunity to educate the larger public about the power of language in the political sphere.
Go get those Republics!
J out.

Then they wonder why we call them idiots.

4. And, it's this sort of attitude that explains why the Republics KICK OUR ASS.
Politics is less about using the frontal lobes and more about the amygdalae. Fear/emotion guide political force these days. Trying to reason with those who do not use it is futile.
Rising above it is no longer a viable option. Sorry, this is just the cold hard truth.
You just keep on being "above it all," while the country and our party sinks into oblivion.
I choose to FIGHT on their terms. I choose to show STRENGTH. I choose to bully and belittle what should rightly be put down.

When they say they "fight," what does that mean? I see scores of people every day, and POLITICS NEVER EVER EVER EVER comes up. What are they "fighting?"
I can only surmise that they're fighting the voices in their heads.

:lmao: They call us worse shit every day! The OP thinks he has a winning hand though, and he keeps using his word in every post. Now, the following guy's name I find irritating but he got something right.

8. "Republics" doesn't have any connotation to me...
We are, after all a democratic republic... Seems to me, that Republicans would be happy to embrace the nickname.
If we are to "stoop to their level," the reason why they love "Democrat" party is that they can put stress on the "rat" part.
Democraticks, lice, and fleas.
-
Uhhh, we're not the ones writing articles about how we need less democracy and freedom. We're not democrat governors who seriously suggest suspending Congressional elections. We're not the one banning church and school bake sales.
More cognative dissonance from the terminally stupid.
-
So they want to pique the Average Joe's curiosity on the differences between a republic and straight democracy with it's attending discussions of federalism, the 10th Amendment, etc etc etc
I say, go for it.

I'm really pleased the DUmbasses view "democrat" as a slur, but when this particulary derangement began, back around the time when Rove and Jeb stole Florida, I was really surprised.
In the time and place where I lived as a child, Republicans were about as common as three-legged chickens. I never, ever, heard anyone mention the party by any name other than "the democrat party". It was "the democrat candidate", "the democrat convention".
I think it must just be a democrat thing to constantly change the name of things. I remember how comical it sounded the first time I heard "chairperson". It still sounds weird. And then they started changing the names of minority groups, and sexual perversions, and mental frailties, all of which sounded weird and still do.
-
I guess they expect us to cry like babies if they do this. :whatever:
Hell they have called us repukes, rethugs, rethuglicans, and repigs for years, and all we do is laugh at them.

When your policies constantly fail, or when a special class of people perpetually make nuisances of themselves with rainbow orgy parades, the term for that group is bound to begin to carry negative connotations in society at large, so frequent name changes are required.

The “Ic†Factor
The history of “Democrat Party†is hard to pin down with any precision, though etymologists have traced its use to as far back as the Harding Administration.

When they say they "fight," what does that mean?
:catfight:
Stupid idea, really. Nobody else would pick up and use the term, or even care, if the DUpes did start insisting on it. It just sounds off. "Democrat" can be either a noun and an adjective without modification, "Republic" cannot.
-
If you want people to think you're some kind of moron, go for it. It wouldn't bother me or any Republican I know one bit.
At least "Democrat Party" sounds natural.
Republicans are in the Republican Party.
Socialists are in the Socialist Party.
Communists are in the Communist Party.
You're the only assholes who insist on have that little "ic" suffix attached that changes your name from a noun to an adjective, and it's funny how you get all pissy like a child who dropped their sucker in the dirt when you don't get it.

And they're absolutely death on the subject. Watch what happens when somebody inadvertently leaves it off. The entire thread derails in a comical manner, and never recovers. No matter how serious the subject matter. Talk about the next shiny object!
-
Talk about looking to be offended. Call us what ever you want, labels don't win elections, ideas do.
This is what I was talking about in another thread, they make their lives much harder than it needs to be. Who cares if anyone calls you a democrat or democratic. They say democrat because it sounds correct, not because "the man" is putting you down.

Most ad hominem attacks come from the idea bereft left.

I believe these morans tried this before, with the same result, proving once again they are insane.

DUAC DUAC DUAC DUAC!!!!!!11111!!!!eleventy
I've been pushing the term donk.
-
So when you introduce someone like Nancy Pelosi you say the "Democratic" from California?
-
Oh and, this is really going to be a winning issues amongst voters who are unemployed and see how horrible the economy is. ::)

I was just thinking today how before the movie Dances With Wolves came out, I had never heard of Lakota Indians--and I've seen a ton of westerns. But after that movie, every Indian on TV shows and movies seemed to be Lakota. Later I found out that Lakota Indians are what we used to call Sioux but, supposedly, they identify themselves as Lakota but the neighboring tribes called them Sioux. But why did it take until 1990 to make this known? Sounds a little fishy to me.
Another one. Beijing, China. I suppose it was back around 1980 when I started paying attention to the news and heard reports about Beijing, China and I can remember thinking that Beijing sounds like a pretty big city so how come I've never heard of it until now. I got schooled that Beijing is what we used to call Peking. But the name hadn't been changed. Seems we'd been not only pronouncing it wrong but spelling it wrong too--for hundreds of years, I guess.
What got me thinking about these things was the Gravenstein apple story I was reading here at the Cave. I couldn't believe that I'd never before heard of a variety of apple that had such a strong following and I was trying to rationalize my ignorance of it.

Actually, doesn't it go back to Reagan? :-)

When I was a kid, I remember it being spelled "Beiping" in the newspapers. The Red Chinese, I think, changed the Westernized spelling of a lot of towns.

It just highlights their intelligence. The party is not even capable of distinguishing between nouns and adjectives. This is what ? Second grade level work ?
