Title: MLB Playoff Thread
Post by: Odin's Hand on September 29, 2011, 06:52:07 AM
The Rangers clinch home-field in their ALDS and Boston is where they belong in October. A good baseball day yesterday.

Many times during the season I was ready to write off the Cards - even turning the TV off! But, what a September they had. Who would have thought........

'Course, I don't think they'll get past the Phillies......but ya never know!

Man, I'd love to see Pujols, Holliday, or Berkman just take Cliff Lee yard over and over again.

The Rangers are hot and are going to be a tough out in the post-season. My condolences to the Boston fans out there, that was a tough pill to swallow, but at least you still have the Pats.

GO RANGERS!!

Really cool how they had Cooper Stone come out to throw the first pitch.

I couldn't sleep last night and turned on the TV to the Yankees game just before the bases loaded balk that broke the dam, in the eighth inning.  (The Yankees scored six runs that inning.)  I was reminded of the Phillthies offense.  I'd like to see the Brew Crew v. the Rangers in the WS--two teams that have never won it.

Yeah, hopefully both those Det. and NYY bullpens get wore smooth out next game.

Well, the Yankmees are out.  The D'Bags and Brew Crew are tied in the sixth, but that could change in a second.

What a nice thing to wake up to (on my birthday, even!)--the Cardinals advance!  Though, Ryan Howard goign down is never a good thing.  The only guy on the Phill(th)ies I would be feeling worse for, if he went down like that, would be Raul Ibanez.

I want to see the Brewers and the Rangers in the Series--with the Brew Crew winning the whole shebang.

The Tigers/Rangers game might be rained out tonight.

It went off, much to Justin Verlander's chagrin.

The NL "Suds Series" starts today. Go Cards...

The bias in the play-by-play calls from Joe Buck has been disgusting already. Fox should've relieved him for someone else.

Buck has been an irritating boil on the ass for years. He is incompetence personified.

Mrs E and I caught the last 4 innings of the game last night, which comprises the FIRST game of ANY sport that we've watched on the tube in many, many a year.

Pujols is a monster. Plain flat out. Three home runs in a WS game - ties the record with Babe Ruth (1928, IIRC), Reggie Jackson (1977). But beyond Pujols, it was a slugfest brawl. The Cards took no prisoners last night.

Fluke...that "no tag" call at first opened the floodgates.

Rangers take the next two and need one in St. Louis.

I have no problem with that end result, just as I have no problem with the Cards taking it all again.

It's called, "I have no dog in that fight."  :-)

I'm still gloating over the 1968 WS triumph by Detroit over St. Louis.  :whistling:

Try arrogance. I've seen him at a couple sports dinner. His father, Jack Buck, was a prince. This "kid" is just spoiled.

But so happy that the Cards have gone so far. I'm so proud of them.

GO CARDS

Larussa blew the pitching change and then blamed it on the crowd noise while he was on the phone with the bullpin but he keeps changing his story.

Go Rangers

GO CUBS!!!!

Oh, wait......That's next year...... :-)

At least you can dream about making it next year.  Probably 2013 at the earliest for the Mets . . .

. . . but then, watch out!  With the surplus of prospects they have in their lower minors, some of them are bound to hit The Show.
