So we just got an $1,800 check from American Cool Air....
Have no idea why we got it...
It's a legitimate wholesaler of cooling products for places like Chicken Farms.
Should we cash it?

1. Is it addressed to you specifically? Do you own a chicken farm?
But no, if it's a mistake you shouldn't cash it...

2. If it's not yours, don't cash it.
Chances are they'll catch the error soon enough, but I'd probably write "VOID" on the check and send it right back to them with a not telling them they issued it to you by mistake.
Trust me, it's easier in the long run.
Something tells me the seductress defrocked warped primitive would know this stuff, and why it's easier in the long run.

3. My guess: It is a discount "check", basically a coupon disguised as a check.
Read the fine print front and back.
I'll bet it's only good toward an installation of a full central air and heating system.

5. If it's not cash, don't deal with it. Strings are usually attached.
And even if it's cash, strings can still be attached. It could be some drug dealer's money, and you don't wanna mess around with money that belongs to people with guns.

6. Is there any fine print on the back of the check near where you would sign?

If you cash it, and it's a mistake, you could still be liable.

16. To avoid the feds, scammers usually do not use the USPS
Treat anything from UPS or Fedex with extreme caution.

17. If it's bogus and you deposit it, it just cost you $40 or whatever your bank charges for bounced checks.

Yeah people get checks completely out of the blue every single day. Moron.

Is "green commode primitive" a new term for the WCGreen primitive? I don't remember seeing it before. Dang, that is funny. :-)

I've used it for years, but you, sir, are the first one who noticed it.

Rush Limbaugh has a media tweak of the day, where he changes something minor in a story or some such thing, to watch the media run with the story tomorrow, with his tweak still intact in the story.
You mentioned a couple weeks back that you have only a few times tweaked the words in a post you've modified something you've rowed back over from Skin's Island. Have you ever considered maybe a change here and there every day, to tweak the primitives who visit our cozy cave?
-
He paid way too much for his air unit.

It's only been three times that I've done that, in ten years.
The funniest one was when I changed "Fisher" to "Fister," at our old home.
But generally, it's hard to top a primitive when it comes to words.

I used to get real checks from a company wanting to carry ads for my business.... in some off the wall magazine you never saw. The trick was that if you cashed the check that meant you had agreed to pay X-amount for the advertisements in the unknown magizine....trash canned all the checks.

The DUmmies are used to getting checks in the mail for doing nothing. They just happened to notice the payer this time was not US Treasury, paying out their Obama monies.

Don't feel bad I post lots of things that don't get noticed too. :-)

DUmmies are so gullible and fall for anything.
Every six months or so, I receive these scam letters/checks in the mail. The check is usually for $2,500-$4,500. The letter says I won $100,000 or whatever dollars. I am told to cash the check, wire $100 via Western Union to the company, and they will send my winnings.
Those checks/letters get ripped up and thrown in my trash. It's obviously a scam.
-
This is just too FUnnie!
Damned DUmmie (one of the mostest smartest people on the planet, just ask them) can't seem to comprehend that just because a check doesn't have "US Department of the Treasury" across the top doesn't mean it's a bad check.
Deposit the damned thing, wait 30 days. If the money is still in your checking account, it's yours.
If you get charged for a service attached to the check, (that's why you read the "fine print") send the money back, call the company to raise hell and cancel whatthehellitwas you signed up for when you cashed the check.
Better yet, you send me your mailing address, I'll send you a check for $10,000. All you have to do is cash the check, send me a money order for $2,500, and you can keep the rest.
DUH! :loser:

I was thinking the opposite shadeaux. I put a new A/C in 3 years ago (entire unit inside and out) and it cost me close to $10k. I wondered who his A/C people were.
Of course with the unit I have now ... when it is 110 outside I can put my thermostat on 68 and it will BE 68. Before I replaced the unit if it was 110 out I MIGHT get it all the way down to 90 in the house and the A/C was running 24/7.
We're a lot more comfortable in the house in the summer and my electric bill has dropped about a $100/month.
